- RIP CHI - (July 15, 1970 - April 13, 2013.
Deftones' bassist Chi Cheng was left in a coma after a severe car accident November 2008. His condition slowly but gradually improved, till he was in a minimally conscious state. Chi was in New Jersey for about a year to continue the treatments he had started in a brain rehabilitation clinic. He was then moved home to Cali with his family, and a new medical team. He was gaining strength now that he was out of the hospital environment, till he passed away.. We love and miss you always Chi. CHI CHENG! RIP.

This video was a much loved one and since there have been a lot of people missing it, I have decided to upload it. It was uploaded because fans loved seeing Chi Cheng healthy and happy, doing an extremely funny interview. Much respect and a big thank you to Salvador Cabaret for his video.

Chi was my fav bassist for Deftones imo, being their longest and they all got along great in those 18 years, and an outstanding backing vocalist with his loud screams going live and in Headup, Needles and Pins and much others, RIP Chi Cheng, u really helped this underrated band rise, much credit and for Sergio as well, they were the best❤️🔥🎶
As a native of Lodi, Ca I got into these guys at like 10 yrs old after learning chi went to high school like three blocks from me. Deftones wrote the soundtrack to my life lol. Rest in peace, Chi. One love

I've ran a tributepage for Chi since his accident (Myspace/Facebook) and have talked to fans all over the world on there, and so many of them speak of how Deftones - and especially Chi - have been a major part of their lives. Chi is loved all over the world. His family has told me repeatedly how the fans' love and support got them through everything. Thank you for sharing that.

Every day since Adrenaline, Deftones have been apart of my life through music. Whether in my car, or running with my ipod, there has rarely been a day wthout their music. I along with several thousand Deftones fans did not get to meet Chi, however he was and still will be apart of my life through the music. My condolences to the members of the band, friends, and especially to his family who never gave up hope since the tragedy. Travel well Chi, thanks for all the great years of music.
I balled like a baby when seeing Chi while stephen was talking about how the band hasn't had a lineup change and now Chi has passed away! :(

I was very sad too. I try to think that at least he doesn't have to suffer anymore now. But I will always miss him. I love this interview and at one point I couldn't find it on youtube. I had it downloaded so I decided to upload it.
