  • Today we were called by Copart to come pick up two vehicles. One was a bought vehicle and the other was insurance. The first one was basically dismantled and the Prius had a locked up break. Good old dolly time. Starting to think I'm throwing more dollies with the flatbed than I did in the wrecker. Another long one but not sure how to get them shortened. I hope you enjoy the video and please remember to like subscribe and share. Oh Copart paid $450.00 for the red one.

How much do you usally get per car owning your own truck getting insurance cars? One day I want to buy a truck. Good you have a CENTURY deck. quality. Miller industries rules. I drove a extended cab international like that older model though when it was a 4300

If your talking about what Copart pays, it varies with location and distance from the main yard. I was a Jerr-Dan guy for a long time. I like some of the options on the JD but this bed worked great. Thank you for watching.

Hard to believe anyone would pay the amount you mentioned purposely for that red car. That's behind my comprehension LOL! OK? To each there own. Another great job David!

Hi Dave. When you begin to witness the amount of money CoPart is willing to pay for junked vehicles in comparison to what they pay haulers to pick those vehicles up, the picture becomes clear.
CoPart retains at least 50% of what the Insurance companies pay for transporting the vehicles. Of course they also make money on auctioning those vehicles also.
Most dispatchers share a percentage of that money also,(although most will never admit it), along with the manager. To be more clear; the manager will give a quarterly or monthly percentage to the dispatcher. So if your pickups begin to get FUBAR, you can know that somehow a dispatcher has become irritated over something you may have done or not done to her liking, and will start to use a tow company for “cleanup”.
Managers live or die by the number of cars brought in every month and get the bonus by the amount of money they save,( it practically goes right onto their pocket). Watch your 6.

So far we are making OK money. Also so far they have been really happy with me. We shall see how time goes. We're not making a huge profit but we are making one. Thanks for commenting.

Had similar issue with dollie straps falling off in travel, my understanding to be that the dollie wheels move up and down with terrain combined with lift doing the same yet independently, while tire in the dollie is "locked" in position in relation to vehicle on the dollie, it can not rotate if is drive axle on dollie or parking brake preventing wheel from pivoting with dollie travel or with vehicle angle changing with lift up/down movement by tow vehicle suspension travel or terrain changes (a road grade change, unintentionally raising or lowering the lift). In this theory, the locked brake on the rear of prius probably lost its strap, while the other side did not, giving credit to this theory. Hope I explained well enough for you to understand what I mean. In my issue, vehicle in tow is personally owned rear wheel drive rat rod, once I was told of possible cause, I started towing in neutral and no longer had an issue. ( side note: my tow vehicle is a Silverado HD with sneaker lift, upgraded frame and suspension mods, no flatbed option here.) Hope this helps, thanks for the video, great job.

Thank you for watching. I was also running the straps with two points of contact vs. the lasso strap like the wheel lift straps. Once I started using it that way the problem went away.
