As someone who's related to a big family like this only by marriage, I love the Kevin reveal! I kept my married name after the divorce, and with my ex having literally at least 100 first cousins not to mention however many second and third, I'm constantly getting Facebook friend requests from total strangers who assume that because I'm connected to all their family and have the same last name I must be some family member they don't recognize. 😅
So many years of lore and it all came down to this episode. I'm going to lie down on the floor to contemplate the everything while also trying to ignore how this was far too similar to a recent family gathering.
You bring such life to these characters because literally I get so involved I forget it’s the same person playing each part!! Jenny is awesome!! She deserves so much recognition. Kevin and “Benito” too! Love Benito’s character, so funny!
Also, I’m glad Armando was cast as a guy who was more beefy and macho-looking in comparison to Benito and Rolando, because I kinda had the You Betcha guy in my head as Armando, and the guy cast to play him looks close. I even had this mental image in my head of Armando getting Benito and Rolando each in a headlock as a way of sort of palling around in a jockish sort of way and all the women in the family are just cringing or eye rolling at the sight of it. 🤣
We originally wanted Mario Ramill to play Armando last year, but since he’s all the way in Florida it would’ve meant we couldn’t use the character as often. This year we originally cast Eddie, the actor playing Marcos, as Armando, but we ended up writing Maruchi’s new boy friend and he was better suited. Mike was great as Armando cause he had the physicality we wanted, and could play macho but also a little embarrassed and insecure too.
This has been a thanksgiving tradition for me watching the lore of this family grow and inmerse us even more in this world Jenny has created. Honestly i had to stop half way cause how much I laughed with Maruchi "Trial of the Century....maybe" and Abuelas stare to her ex marido is a look we all know to well the "No me Jodas conmigo" look, seriously I died 😆
