Those tiny less than quarter-screen FMV windows for character interactions were a good workaround for the limitations of the Sega CD upgrade for the Genesis in the early 1990's. There wasn't enough room/bandwidth/CPU to have high quality full screen video on one CD. Wait, when was this made?
I worked at a Software Etc.../Gamestop from 2000 - 2004 and I _distinctly_ remember receiving and stocking that game _(and then seeing it/handling it for years/through countless re-organizing and alphabetizing)_ and I will never, _EVER_ be able to forget that goddamn cover...

It was fun 14 years ago to be part of the teams that were going around and finding where all the digital assets had been stolen from. The unique Necromancer Boneshield from Diablo 2 as wall ornaments was one of my first observations. I played Limbo of the Lost when MandaloreGaming preserved it after playing it. It's 100% worth it just for the ending. It's textbook, so bad it's good.
This is a bit of a guilty pleasure for me. There are unfortunately mind-numbing sections of tedium, but the plot and characters are so utterly insane it more than makes up for it 😂

The FMV is too good for ps1/N64. Looks a bit like a late ps2 release, focused too much on FMV. Ps3 came in 2006. Ps3 was capable of a lot more... so 2008 release ment for old hardware lines up.

This game is *the definitive way* to summarise what dreams are like, if aliens arrive on earth and ask us what dreams are we should show them this and they’d automatically understand 100%. Edit: this game really is the perfect entertainment experience when your brain is not entirely functioning correctly, it really deserves a modern remake with assets that weren’t completely stolen.

And whats even more hilarious is that briggans or whatever this characters name is, was a sea captain thrown into limbo, where as pirates of the caribbean (by akella) was solely made within like 8 months to be in line with the first movie release, which flopped so damn hard that it fell into obscurity. SO MAYBE THIS IS WHERE CAPTAIN HAWK WENT TO AFTER THE GAME FAILED!

I just wanna say that the Wintermute Engine is a pretty great free adventure game engine. It's been a long time since I tinkered with it but the community was great and perhaps still is. Limbo of the Lost might be an hilarious turd but the engine is pretty solid.
Also, I'm pretty sure that opening scene where he's falling through the fire is a clip from Spawn. If you pause at the right time you can almost see Micheal Jai White.

I played the Bards tale (2004) after seeing your video and had a blast, even chose the bad ending (or good ending, depending on the perspective), possibly wont play this one as point and click adventures are not my cup of tea. I recommend the Majesty Kingdom Sim series, especially the first one for a candidate for goofy game.
While Majesty is definitely a goofy series, it's NOWHERE NEAR the level of these games. If you'd include Majesty, I'd say you should include stuff like Yakuza, too, which just doesn't feel right. Some random games I ~would~ say deserve maybe a compilation video (due to their light amount of actual content) would be a few random mobile and idle games, like NGU Idle, Soda Dungeon 1/2, the ever famous Cookie Clicker, etc. - While they're "actual games", the concepts of so many of them are so ridiculously out there it's kind of insane. Especially Cookie Clicker and Egg Inc. But, honestly, the category of "truly goofy and insane games" really doesn't have that many true entries in it. I will say though... Chip's Tips 100% deserves the honor of being considered a ridiculous, insane, goofy game. It's a "horror parody" of Blue's Clues, but I'll just put it this way: You'll never understand how ridiculous of a game it is until you watch someone play it, or play it yourself. Every single element of the game makes zero sense and it's amazing.
