The intro to the third disc “Welcome to an altered future” will always be so underrated. It’s short but it’s one of the best layered spooky sounding music the band has made. Gives me goosebumps everytime
I sure am glad I didnt miss this! Murder of the Universe is one of my all time favorite Gizz albums, something about it just screams "Gizzard" to me. Weird fantasy/sci-fi horror subject matter, odd time signatures, _smooth_ transitions, woo's and guitar delay screeches galore, and of course, self references (that opening track of chapter 2, Some Context, is quite literally the outro of People-Vultures, I assume ripped from the song itself). Stu himself said that this was his favorite Gizz album because it's "stupid" and "ugly". Though in recent years he's changed his mind and said that Butterfly 3000 was his favorite, probably because its more personal than horror creatures, fantasy battles and a vomiting cyborg. The entirety of chapters 2 and 3 have music videos rather than individual songs. Makes me wonder why they didn't just release a music video for chapter 1 too. Also, fun fact, Crumbling Castle was meant to be the 2nd chapter of this album originally, but they decided against it, probably because it would've made less sense as a medley that seems like 1 long song, and would make more sense if it actually _was_ 1 long song. Super excited for the Microtonal series! They're really incredible albums, a lot less blaring and energetic than this and Nonagon and a lot more droning and dreary. Hope you enjoy!
And given that "Some Context" is the outro of "People-Vultures" you can actually play all of Nonagon Infinity inside of Murder of the Universe if you start it from "Mr. Beat" and end it at "People-Vultures". And one of the other songs ("Reticent Raconteur"?) can be played directly into Mind Fuzz.
If you want to dig deep into the connection between albums, the line "water's rising up, thick and green" in Crumbling Castle seems awfully similar to the vomit 👀👀
Woo! What a beast of an album! There's a KEXP live version of the 'Altered Beast/Alter Me' tracks you should check out! 'Lightning Lord Vs Balrog' and 'Han-Tyumi and the Murder of the Universe' have great music videos that are worth a look too! Yup!
loved your reaction to this, you should check out "eyes like the sky" its one of gizz's first albums so its a little on the low quality side but tells a great story
writing a dnd campaign revolving around this and petrol dragonic using the songs as a guide to set story beats (group dosnt listen to king gizz so should be a crazy fun story for them)
this was my first record and listen from them. i was at a record store in philly and noticed the interesting name of the band. the record was a special colored vinyl that looked like a blue pool of blood so i had to get it. first listen i fell in love with them, now i own all their albums on vinyl and theyre my favorite band. gonna see them twice this summer on their us tour. this albums still my favorite
gotta be some of my absolute favorite storytelling, not just from gizz but all time. literally impossible for me to choose a favorite song from this album
In Chapter 1, we hear about someone becoming an Altered Beast and by the end of the chapter it's time for it to die, die, die. In Chapter 2, we have the battle of the Lord of Lightning vs Balrog, which was a corpse that began to twitch, caught alight and was born that very night. I think that the Balrog is the dead Altered Beast resurected. By the end of Chapter 2, The Lord of Lightning escapes leaving us, not without a final clap of light, day fades into moonless night, wich brings us to Digital Black (total darkness), where a cyborg is jealous of humans shortcomings to the point that it builds a human machine so he can live those experiences vicariously. Of course his creation doesn't appreciate being covered in vomit all the time so Han-Tyumi takes over. Amazing album, great stories, awesome sounds, I love it!
definitely make sure to check out the music videos for Lord of Lightning vs the Balrog and Han-Tyumi and the Murder of the Universe, they're sick as hell
@@walterooski new album should be coming pretty soon, this is just the first sneak peak of it, they might release a studio version as a single or something though so up to you if you wanna. th-cam.com/video/eGNPZYX10Yg/w-d-xo.html
@@walterooski youtu.be/ eGNPZYX10Yg tbh you might wanna hold off on it a little bit since this is just a live sneak peak and it probably means it may be dropping as a single soonish and that would probably be better for reacting than just some dudes concert video, but it does sound pretty sick from what weve heard so far!
@@walterooskiAs far as I know there's only cellphone footage of it, nothing professional, but it looks like its gonna be released as a single sometime soon-ish. With Gizz, you always know there's something coming up. At least 1 album every year, except for 2018.
Two things: how did you miss the guitar line from Crumbling Castle in the middle of Vomit Coffin? And just wanted to say that depending on ones mood, this album can either cone off as the scariest or funniest from the Gizz boys.
MOTU is something I never wanted to like but like anyway. At the Sept 1st show in Chicago they performed Suite 3 and I was a little bummed since I felt I was missing out on stuff I thought I'd like better, but by the end I was entranced.... again. What a ride.
@walterooski also I just finished listening and here are two things about the album you might find interesting: -Han Tyumi is an anagram for humanity. My interpretation is that Han tyumi is meant to represent the future of humanity as a whole and not just one person. I think this makes the Han tyumi monologue much more meaningful. -Stu has crohns disease, which was not public information when the album came out but hes been open about it since. When he opened up about it this sparked a lot of speculation that the inspiration for lyrics about excessive vomiting and shitting throughout their music came from stu's struggle with the disease.
Be sure to check out their murder of the universe set at KEXP, it's awesome and even Fantano should be able to enjoy it - it's basically the instrumentals without the female narrator voice. And I just saw somebody already pointed out this recording 12 days ago - kudos! th-cam.com/video/G5Z4bma_tUM/w-d-xo.htmlsi=KCmKqbvGubSTJvDn

Han-Tyumi's vomit alters timelines and gives birth to the Gizzverse. A New world's "dried crusted mud" is also probably the vomit.

Dude just earlier today King Gizzard played a new song from their next album live, you should check it out its some sick 70s blues rock type stuff.
Drop me the link and I’ll make sure to do it in the next day or two!

Looking forward to seeing the Gizz in Hamburg next week, but fearing that even a 3 hour set won't be long enough.
it won’t. not a cult.
THE BEST BANDDDDD
Walter, the KEXP set for that album (in front of audience) has to be their best imo!
You can hear elements of ITRN and Petrodragonic, yes. But this is Doom Prog FolKraut. It hits way harder than any subsequent metal albums.

The vinyl also have an awesome story book telling this story with cool animations.
The real question is: did you ever look at the cover for Fishing For Fishies?
This was my favorite listen to this album. The next listen will my next favorite listen
Yooooo gizz days are back?? Whens the next one my dude
