I actually work with someone who has cerebral palsy and his way of communicating is with a Tobii Dynavox. He’s not able to speak so he uses his eyes to communicate with the device. I have seen him use it so much. It’s an amazing tool and it has totally changed his life.

I hope that the Dynavox and Gemini provide amazing results for Abby. We have tried various communication programs over the years and are currently having success with Aacorn+ ,an app on our IPad, it is a great feeling when you find something that provides positive results.

So cute, I watch your vlogs with my 8 year old Izzy. She noticed that Abbie has the same Shopkins pajamas as her. She loves to watch your vlogs, and it is teaching her so much about kids with Autism, and special needs kids. She felt a special connection to Abbie because they have the same pajamas.

I had guests this week that I had to entertain cook and clean for (total of 2 toddlers, 1 baby, 2 dogs, and 3 adults!) so I had zero time for TH-cam 😭 Time to binge watch the vlogs!
It would be amazing even if she learned to understand sentences better when people talk to her, or if she could communicate some more complicated things with symbols (like short sentences), or learned to use written words without pictures (i.e., sight reading some words).
Hey u guys r awesome...i am from canada.My 5 year old is using a app on ipad for communication it works just like they way u explained.he is doing so good within two months he start reproducing the words.now he can say full sentence like i want water.hopefully it will work for abbie same way.love you guys...
Dynavox is awesome. My daughter has used one for a few years now and although at this point she doesn’t build sentences I’ve programmed sentences on it for her so she only has to make one choice; we’re hoping to see her progress and continue to want to communicate.
My son had his evaluation today. Which we already knew what the outcome would be. I was just surprised after only 10 minutes she said” he definitely has Autism “. Watching your videos continue to ease my mind. He walked out as the same kid that walked in. This opens the door for so many more opportunities for my little guy. So thank you.
As someone with aspergers a message I have for you is that your son still has the opportunity to show the world who he is. autism is only a part of who he is.

I love that she is getting a more advanced AAC device. She seems very intelligent (especially with electronics, like her ipad). I use AAC apps on my iPad (Proloquo2Go and SpeakforYourself). But I can type, as well.

I've been watching a lot of videos on doctors that treat autism have you ever in all your years of dealing with helping Abby and trying to find out everything you can have you ever been to a DAN doctor
The kids at the center I work in use the proloquo app to communicate but that's another one where you just press "pretzel" and it's equally expensive. I really like the idea of teaching sentence structure, I can't wait to see how Abbie's communication expands!
I use a system that looks exactly like what your using. We call it PODD and it was founded I Australia.I work in New Zealand with a child with cerebral palsy, who is wheelchair bound and is almost fully deaf. She relies heavily on something like this to communicate, though we sign to her, it difficult for her to sign back because of the weakness one side of her body she can’t fully sign words that require to hands. I also find you videos super helpful because in the class I work in we have many students with varying degree of autism and the way you work with Abby inspires me to apply a similar method and positivity with the children I support.

I have worked with the Tobii Dynavox before, with a friend from high school who has locked-in syndrome. He was only able to move his eyes and a little of him mouth by himself. His Tobii (which he named Luke) was completely opperated by eye contact and it meant we could join in with class conversations, and even things such as Drama that he was never able to do before. It also made him able to say if he was uncomfortable or needed anything. He will never be verbal but because of the dynavox we are able to email and everything. Hope it works for Abbie, even though it is a very different case it may make a big difference
