@@IanCheng94 I agree, it’s been too long! What was the #1 key point for you that really hit home? You know this information, it’s so fundamental, that I feel like it’s gonna just slipped right under the rug, so I’m so happy to hear a comment like this! - Dax

@@rhythmjuice You had me at the "clap", it feels like everything is built on it, I think I will be just clapping to music whenever I'm in doubt!
Knowing where the beat is, and expressing between the beat(the pocket?) has been a great milestone/work-in-progress for myself and my friends.

@ the saying “in the pocket” sounds so cool, but I’ve honestly never understood exactly what that meant. Also, “staying behind the beat” all of these expressions left me super confused for so many years. What I have come to discover, is perhaps these sayings relate directly to the slow-fast expression you can apply to counts one too. The more you slow down on one, the more anticipation you build around not making it on time to count two, causing an acceleration, and a natural accentuation of the two that reflects the swing of a pendulum. This is how I approach staying in the pocket. In reality, I’m never behind the beat, I’m simply creating an illusion that I’m not gonna make it in time, and it’s all right there in the Swinging pendulum example. It’s all so simple for me now, it makes me laugh.

@ Likewise! it's good to feel cool and follow the instinct, but to improve is to clarify things as much as possible. And you guys are the master of teaching things crystal clear🥰

@@IanCheng94 I really appreciate the kind words. Most of us are going to make our biggest improvements with simple mind shifts. At least, that’s what’s worked for me, and I’m excited to start to share more about the details.

@@rhythmjuice I could aways feel the rhythm and have good timing, but never fully understood the details you talk about here, so I can better relay this type of information to my students. I feel a lot of dancers, new and experienced, are a bit "in a hurry" doing the steps thus making their rhythm messy. So improving the foundation that you talk about here can make a huge difference for a lot of dancers regardless of their level. :) So thank you for sharing this! Hopefully we can see you guys in person somewhere in Europe soon!
