    Starting Point: Grand Avenue goo.gl/maps/Fz...
    Grand Avenue is a major north-south thoroughfare in Los Angeles, California. In 2007, a $3 billion Grand Avenue Project was proposed to revive Downtown Los Angeles.
    en.wikipedia.o...
    Los Angeles, officially the City of Los Angeles and often known by its initials L.A., is the second-most populous city (over 18 million) in the United States (after New York City), the most populous city in California. Situated in Southern California, Los Angeles is known for its Mediterranean climate, ethnic diversity, sprawling metropolis, and as a major center of the American entertainment industry. Los Angeles lies in a large coastal basin surrounded on three sides by mountains reaching up to and over 10,000 feet.
    Nicknamed the "City of Angels", Los Angeles is a global city with a diverse economy in entertainment, culture, media, fashion, science, sports, technology, education, medicine and research. The city is one of the most substantial economic engines within the United States. The area economy is the third-largest in the world, after the Greater Tokyo and New York metropolitan areas.
    Los Angeles includes Hollywood and leads the world in the creation of television productions and recorded music; it is also one of the leaders in motion picture production.
    L.A. hosted the Summer Olympic Games in 1932 and 1984 and is bidding to host the 2024 Summer Olympics and thus become the second city to have hosted the Games three times (after London).
    Economy
    The economy of Los Angeles is driven by international trade, entertainment (television, motion pictures, video games, music recording, and production), aerospace, technology, petroleum, fashion, apparel, and tourism. Other significant industries include finance, telecommunications, law, healthcare, and transportation. Three of the six major film studios-Paramount Pictures, 20th Century Fox, and Universal Pictures-are located within the city limits.
    Los Angeles is the largest manufacturing center in the western United States.
    Race and Ethnicity
    Los Angeles is home to people from more than 140 countries speaking 224 different identified languages. Ethnic enclaves like Chinatown, Historic Filipinotown, Koreatown, Little Armenia, Little Ethiopia, Tehrangeles, Little Tokyo, Little Bangladesh and Thai Town provide examples of the polyglot character of Los Angeles.
    Culture
    Los Angeles is often billed as the "Creative Capital of the World", because one in every six of its residents works in a creative industry and there are more artists, writers, filmmakers, actors, dancers and musicians living and working in Los Angeles than any other city at any time in history.
    Movies and the Performing Arts
    The city's Hollywood neighborhood has become recognized as the center of the motion picture industry. Los Angeles plays host to the annual Academy Awards and is the site of the USC School of Cinematic Arts, the oldest film school in the United States.
    Sports
    The city of Los Angeles and its metropolitan area is the home of nine major league professional sports teams. These teams include the Los Angeles Dodgers and Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim of Major League Baseball (MLB), the Los Angeles Rams of the National Football League (NFL), the Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers of the National Basketball Association (NBA), the Los Angeles Kings and Anaheim Ducks of the National Hockey League (NHL), the Los Angeles Galaxy of Major League Soccer (MLS), and the Los Angeles Sparks.
    Landmarks
    Important landmarks in Los Angeles include the Hollywood Sign, Walt Disney Concert Hall, Capitol Records Building, the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels, Angels Flight, TCL Chinese Theatre, Dolby Theatre, Griffith Observatory, Getty Center, Getty Villa, the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Venice Canal Historic District and boardwalk, Theme Building, Bradbury Building, U.S. Bank Tower, Wilshire Grand Tower, Hollywood Boulevard, Los Angeles City Hall, Hollywood Bowl, Battleship USS Iowa, Watts Towers, Staples Center, Dodger Stadium, and Olvera Street.

    Thanks for these videos, I love America but I could never find videos about real life, about real noises, about everyday life in the city. But only documentaries or films mounted and reassembled or commented and you never understand what it means to be really there !!!!!!
    Instead in these videos everything is very very real and I think it's the thing that comes closest to being really in these beautiful and boundless cities !!!!!!!!!

      It is risky to build skyscrapers in an Earthquake zone.
      That said, it is not a small downtown. It is still the 3rd or 4th largest in the US...

      This drive is from east to west, about 10 blocks. North from Figueroa south to is about eight blocks has all the old, beautiful art deco theaters/hotels and early 1900 office buildings that should be on the video.

    I always get Vermont and Olympic mixed. I don't know. Vermont has Denny's then Olympic is by 6th St.
    Olympic and Wilshire is L.A. Live; Vermont and Wilshire is K-Town. Vermont is West then Olympic is East. Got it. But why does that happen to me?
    #helloworld

    • @lorenzoferlinghetti
      @lorenzoferlinghetti 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Vermont is north to south (from Griffith Park to San Pedro) and Olympic is east-west (from East LA to Santa Monica). Also, Olympic was originally 10th Street because it's between 9th and 11 in downtown).

    The streets are so deserted and empty. LA has a very cold, generic and bland feel to it. No pedestrian activity or excitement. New York and Chicago are so much more alive, fun and full of energy!

      This guy tapes his videos in the morning, come 12: 00, the place is pandemonium. NYC is ridiculously dirty, it's like a third world country in most of Manhattan. LA's downtown is where the fun is. I have to say that Chicago has the best downtown of any U.S. city tho.

    • @paulmason7002
      @paulmason7002 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nice try , but I know better. I lived in LA and the city is exactly as shown here, deserted , empty and cold. Also most of downtown LA is ghetto and crime ridden. You can have it. Face it , you just can't beat the excitement of NYC.

    • @paulmason7002
      @paulmason7002 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Ugly Towers??? Chicago has some of the most beautiful architecture in the world. Chicago's skyline is stunning. LA's skyline is stark ugly and small. LA's crime rate is worse. Ever hear of South Central , Watts, Skid row???

      Well said,Paul! I’m from Chicago.
      Let me tell these “folks” about
      LOST Angeles ,I was there a few times to go visit true downtown expecting the rooftop experiences and restaurants and live streets,unfortunately all I saw was homeless people way worse than NYC or Chicago because the weather accommodates them to sleep all over the streets with tents like they will conquer Mount Everest hahaha. Disastrous,no people,I decided to leave my rented car and be a pedestrian at night,well way too many sketchy people,I don’t mind because I’m 6’3 230 lbs and can box someone’s ass or send them in a coma but how about normal average people ? They will be terrified or unpleasant to walk there and they avoid Downtown. Santa Monica has that dense ,european feeling with some cafes and shops but otherwise this city is terrible so DEAD! I’m european myself so to me Chicago ,NYC,SF,Miami are good cities to live,Vegas,Phoenix,LA,Houston,Orlando,Philadelphia,WAshington DC are total crap! Sorry but people who enjoy LA are ones that either just make big bucks and don’t care or are some average americans or latinos that haven’t seen anything else in their mediocre life. There are of course cool and hip latinos and americans but you get what I mean by that,alternative society is non existent there! They all smoke pot at Venice Beach sooo? Is that cool and hip ? That’s trashy because they are potheads and are mostly narrow minded society . And Venice is actually trashy as well,sketchy peeps there too! Sorry but Malibu and Bel Air or Beverly Hills are just big and rich closed residential communities just houses,palm trees and a street. Forget about the stupid movies! Hollywood blvd is filled with some weirdos with all type of suits ,impressionist and unemployed weirdos walking around for photos. Hollywood sign? I really don’t care about that sign,blvd of fame is very,veeery trashy and the only nice club they got in this boring city is called SOUND and the club is actually pretty great and they play contemporary Techno and Tech house with top notch djs like Marco Carola ,Carl Cox,Martinez Brotherz,Jamie Jones and so on. But the club is situated in midst of this all trash hollywood blvd weird and unpleasant vibe and people .

      well 70km/hour for city street is quite fast. that's the speed for Free way 70km and 80-100 on high way. So i don't know how the fck is that safe for city street with cars running around 70km/hour.
