This is the pinnacle of Coil for me. Everything's here - awesome eccentric electronics, quirky rhythms, John's lovely mumblings and a whole lot of beautiful, heart wrenching emotions.
Every few years i return to this track and it never fails to shock me in its indescribable impact. I don't think it would have the same legacy if it had made it to the studio, would have been fascinating to find out though.
reading through a george russell book (midsummer eve), i happened to stumble upon this poem, 'in tirnanoge: a dream'!! the open lines of stanza 1 and 2: "we were happy and dead, you and i" i wonder if this is perhaps where geff got the inspiration from? of course, for those of you who don't know who george russell is, he was an irish mystic, author, poet, playwright, political thinker and mentor to many great irish authors and artists (james joyce, in ulysses, paid him the greatest compliment...... 'AE.....IOU')!! he is the 'AE' balance refers to in the song 'beestings' from moon's milk ('don't believe AE, see for yourselves the summer fields'), and the track 'avatars' from 'astral disaster is inspired by AE (he wrote a novel called 'the avatars')!! geff was greatly inspired by AE's work....... in this performance, he actually looked like him, AE wore a great big beard like this and had severe side swept hair like balance, plus he wore the dandy fashion balance is modeling here!!
it's amazing, when he start's to sing and the music get's that call to far off places, I can't think of anything more beautiful to experience.I really missed out with this band. I listened to the erlie work's of TG and was an avid Virgin Prunes fan during their new form of beauty/Beasts phase & earlier work( that Sound of Mournful wailing caught between time and reality) This indeed is far superior to Anything else.(VP excluded, they too were pioneer's) Thanks for posting this. Simply The Best!

Wish this made it to CD, I love this song! Fitting he played it at his last show...
