  • The Kentucky State Parks Division of Interpretation and Engagement spent last week learning about the legacy of native peoples during Native American History & Heritage Interpretation Workshop at Lake Cumberland State Resort Park.
Guest speakers included experts from the Kentucky Native American Heritage Commission, Kentucky Archaeological Survey, William S. Webb Museum of Anthropology and Wickliffe Mounds State Historic Site, Kentucky.
Topics included Kentucky’s Native American History, “American Indians: Myths and Stereotypes,” Demystifying Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA) and more. This training was partly funded with a grant from the Kentucky Local History Trust Fund administered by the Kentucky Historical Society
We invite you to come explore the legacy and rich Native American tribal heritage throughout Kentucky State Parks by attending one of these upcoming events.
