Thank you for making this. I really want to get this game, but the renowned ultra challenging difficulty is putting me off. I’m not an experienced gamer and I think I’ll be out of my depth with this.

My first souls game was bloodborne and it took me like 4 hours wondering around and dying constantly before I even manage to fight my way to the cleric beast but once you get the hang of it it’s relatively simple and it gets more interesting as you play through. The start is the hardest part, trust aha
Hey Fextra, just bought this game and as someone whose beaten ever souls game besides this one, this guide is fantastic. Makes sense to me and will help make the first playthrough less frustrating lol
Appreciate the video but as a beginner to souls games in general, a lot of this goes right over my head. Next time I'd love to see something more basic that breaks things down a little more for true beginners like myself.
Bless you dude, I'll try to give you 1 or 2 tips when starting. Generally a lot of players choose the Royal Class when they start, they start at level 1 but that's actually not a bad thing as it gives you a lot more freedom in what you can put your soul levels into when you build them. The Royal Class also starts with a 2 very powerful items that allow you to cast magic and regenerate MP from the very start of the game (NOTE: No matter which class you pick you will never be locked out of the weapons or stats of the other classes as class only determines your starting stats and items). They have access to Soul Arrow a spell that acts like a projectile and can deal with enemies while being at close range. However in general Magic itself has so many spells that the utility it offers is valuable throughout the whole game. Another thing I'll recommend as soon as you can, is to buy a Heater Shield from the dude in the Nexus, reason being it reduces all physical damage you take to zero which is very good for the first shield in the game. I'll note that using certain items require stats to be wielded, these are usually adjusted via your soul levels. There's a couple of other handy items in the first area of the castle but generally speaking this ^ is what you want to know for the start of the game. I'll also say play this one at your own pace, as rushing through levels can get you killed quite easily.
@@LPPanther No worries bud :) Last piece of advice I'll give you generally speaking dodging is much better than blocking. Don't worry at all about heavy armour, as long as you've got a shield and the freedom to move you should be fine. Good luck :) and I hope you enjoy the game mate.
I know I’m being stupid… but I want to use the winged spear how do I tell what stats I need to upgrade in order to equip it?? Can’t seem to compare the weapon to my own stats to find out or even view the requirements of the weapon
Beat bloodborne, elden ring, ds2 & ds3. But man this game is pissing me off. Its the total lack of check points. Hate safely working through a level only to die right before a boss. Cant even run back to your souls because there’s a million enemies in tiny cramped spaces. And then boom. Just like that an hour gone with no progress. Had to take a break from this one and im still only in the beginning smh.
Most levels have shortcuts that make them a lot easier once you unlock them, making finding them satisfying. You should focus on learning those routes (we have maps and video walkthroughs)
I also heard that when you grab an item and you can't carry it, it sends it to storage now, is this true? One thing I hated was finding a new set and find out i'm forced to leave it there and lose it until NG+ xD
yes this is true, I've seen a let's play where he sent stuff to storage. Demon's Souls was my first ever platinum and first ever rpg, I'm a souls vet, go for royalty and a mage build
@@jeagerjeager9171 Hosting always carries that risk. But changes don't immediately happen until you warp at an archstone. Two bosses from neutral without a Body death will get you to PWWT, with an exception for Boletaria Palace since it has 6 boss enemies(4 regular plus the 2 dragons) and thus you need to kill 3 without a Body death.

Wish there was a beginner's guide to help explain this beginners guide. I've been playing this game for days and have made literally no progress I'm still at the gates of bolterra and when I get to the giant castle knight boss guy with all the archers around him. My character died and had to go all the way back to the very beginning what's the gates of bolterra. Would it kill the developers to incorporate a checkpoint when you get to a boss?? I would probably have an easier time learning Mandarin than I would mastering this game.

New to this game, and really struggling with not being able to save the game, get so far into a level then die , back to the start again and again , any tips on how to not let this make me stop playing ? Thanks
The game saves constantly, what you are losing is your progress inside a level. My advise is to take it slow and steady, make a mage build (we have builds on the channel and the wiki) and follow the game progress route: demonssouls.wiki.fextralife.com/Game+Progress+Route You can watch the videos to get an idea of how to go through a level. Once you get the hand of it you will have fun :D

@@sharpkatana1178 No need to feel shame my friend. The game is difficult and whenever you're stuck the best thing to do is to go level up and come back it makes a lot of difference but the most important thing is to never give up!
Normally multiplayer is limited to a Soul Level range based on the level of the host. Turning the limit off for invaders means you could be Soul Level 20 and get invaded by a Soul Level 712 player(if I'm remembering the max level cap).
Tried to find your Wiki page and couldn't. Would you please give me a link as a beginner I'm sure this would help out tremendously. Haven't played video games since the mid 90's.
Because they want people to play new characters, not just the same one, over and over again. If people eventually start new characters, it's better for the overall health of the game, as in theory there's players at more level ranges. This way it's not just brand the 10% population of brand new players, and everyone else at whatever soul level the meta is.
@@walksoflifesixnine having to start new characters every time u want to do a new build is the opposite of keeping players. The reason the dks2 and dks3 pvp is still alive till this day is because u can respec to try a new build.
This is because the Tendecy, if you die in body form outside the Nexus, the world tendency goes black, so the game became more hard and new enemies appears. The people jump and die because they want to play in soul form and with a white Tendency.
That is The Penetrator. He is a Boletarian boss and has the hardest to acquire equipment in the Remake. I think the Penetrator sword is acquired the same way as the armor set. You need to play the game in fractured mode, in both world tendencies and acquire 26 coins hidden throughout the game to trade with Sparkly the Crow for a key that unlocks a gate that is behind an illusory wall that is behind another locked gate that you get later in the Boletarian area once you have killed one of the archdemons... Yes it is a lot.
Solo souls farming is always a matter of visiting the Shrine of Storms; barring some strange nerf in the remake. The further you can get the better: skeletons in the first area, the first reaper in the second area, or the flying creatures in the third area. E.g. it was easy to get the 20,000 souls or whatever was needed for 99 Fresh Spice from the merchant woman in 3-1.

demonssouls.wiki.fextralife.com/Delevel:+How+to+re-spec+in+Demon's+Souls - So far I have not found the re-spec the developers mentioned so you can only delevel.
You can only cast spells if you have a catalyst equipped, and if you have attuned / memorized the spells so they are showing up on your spell slots on the bottom left of the screen.

This video only slightly gave me some clues. Is this be another SEKIRO like surrender for me? Im gathering courage now. 😂
What do I do if I like helping random other players as a phantom? Say we kill the boss each time, do I always have to kill myself somehow just so that I become a phantom again so I can be summoned?
That's a good practice, yes. Go to Nexus and jump off one of the high stairs. Get the souls you dropped and get back out into the world. At least until you are trying to drive your world tendency to the black.
I don't understand how I'm supposed to upgrade? I've killed two bosses and I don't know how to update my weapon or armor. Or even repair my items? How do I get back to the nexus? Im guessing that's where I upgrade? Edit:also how do I get more fire? It seems extremely helpful

Played the game first time yesterday,I liked it but kept dying on first level and thought this game is to hard and I’m bad but seeing in the comments I’m not the only one.Ima give it another go
This game is a Masterpiece. Bluepoint are masters at Visuals. Detail everywhere. I've been stopping and staring at shit. Lol
Was in NG+ before I realized Item Burden and Equipment Burden were two different things 😄
I’ve never played a dark soul or dark soul type game in my life but I’m interested.
Same I’m scared to spend 70 on it
@@austinkeyser3373 It'll be worth it. If you don't know if you'll like it, play Dark Souls 3 or Bloodborne first. Souls games feel really really hard at first.
@@themelancholia started bloodborne liked it than kept dying on the bridge with the 2 werewolf dog things and having to redo the entire mission is kinda bung
You gotta know whether it’s something you acc want to get into because the start is brutal. My first souls game was bloodborne and it took me like 4 hours wondering around and dying constantly before I even manage to fight my way to the cleric beast but once you get the hang of it it’s relatively simple and it gets more interesting as you play through. The start is the hardest part, trust aha

Really useful tips Fextralife rocks 🤙
7:21 This wiki article now links back to your video, lol.
How funny lol
Does delevelling return the souls you spent on those levels? The guide doesn’t mention this
No
Hey Fextra, just bought this game and as someone whose beaten ever souls game besides this one, this guide is fantastic. Makes sense to me and will help make the first playthrough less frustrating lol
I've been using the fextralife wiki since dark souls 1
Thanks man
Appreciate the video but as a beginner to souls games in general, a lot of this goes right over my head.
@@Akechi_The_Phantom_Detective Thank you for the info, I really appreciate it!
@@LPPanther No worries bud :) Last piece of advice I'll give you generally speaking dodging is much better than blocking. Don't worry at all about heavy armour, as long as you've got a shield and the freedom to move you should be fine. Good luck :) and I hope you enjoy the game mate.
@@Akechi_The_Phantom_Detective Phalanx defeated. Thanks man. I'm on my way now!
I’m in the same boat. First time playing a souls game and I haven’t the foggiest what’s going on. Talk about throwing you in the deep end.
They renamed the red hot demon's soul to the burning demon soul
I know I’m being stupid… but I want to use the winged spear how do I tell what stats I need to upgrade in order to equip it?? Can’t seem to compare the weapon to my own stats to find out or even view the requirements of the weapon
What do you guys think about magic faith builds? I was thinking of doing one with Large sword of moonlight.
It's definitely viable. Just grab the talisman of beasts and your job is done.
Turns the game into easy mode especially when you have health regen too
Can’t wait to play next year when I buy the PS5.
Thank you!
It's intimidating but I'm slowly getting better. I'd be improving a lot faster tho if the game didn't keep crashing...
the sixth archestone dlc incoming with from soft's blessing?
Lets hope or even better Miyazaki's hands on it.
Yes you hit the button that used to be the options button on the PS4 controller
Yes. Also, you can send stuff from your own inventory to storage at any time.
@@XoRandomGuyoX how do I coop without making my world tendency terrible
@@jeagerjeager9171 Hosting always carries that risk. But changes don't immediately happen until you warp at an archstone. Two bosses from neutral without a Body death will get you to PWWT, with an exception for Boletaria Palace since it has 6 boss enemies(4 regular plus the 2 dragons) and thus you need to kill 3 without a Body death.
Just beat dark souls remastered, beat sekiro and blood borne, and this feels like the hardest yet
Have you finished the game since posting this comment? If you're still stuck or confused I'm pretty knowledgeable with this game. I could definitely assist you.
@@Poetic_Justice92 well thanks friend! Yes Ive finished it 😁 def my favorite Ps5 exclusive so far
@@know1827 Awesome! Well done friend! Out of all the Souls games I've played and beaten this one is definitely one of my favorites. I've only been able to play the original though. Haven't got my hands on a PS5 yet so I'll stick to my PS3 version until then.
@@Poetic_Justice92 thanks! I went halfway through ds3 a few years back as my first game and rage quit haha. Def plan on retrying that before elden ring comes out. But got lucky with the PS5 as my gf wasn't working at the time so kept track of when they were being sold at certain retailers and after a month i finally got one. Hope your able to get one soon!
This Game is so frustrating. Have no weapons that are of any use. I have no way of level upping. The game is not at all intuitive. Figuring shit out is nearly impossible. I would probably have an easier time learning Mandarin than I would mastering this game.
if a female can do it so can you 🤗 I started the game few weeks back I'm pure black witch makes the enemy extremely hard to kill, I'm now on NG+ still pure black 😤 iv not had any help what so ever since starting the game, there is a streamer on here that is extremely knowable on the souls games, watching his videos helped me out no end ill try to find him and get back to you, I'll addmit I'm still confused on the world tendency system hense why I'm pure black 🤣 I'm not very skilled at this game either, so much i don't understand 🤔 I'd try to help you if i just new how to add you but i don't 😔

@1:31 - Searing - not red hot Demon Soul - for Blacksmith Ed - in Demon's Souls on PS5
This is more like an intermediate guide idk shit he’s talking about and I’m a beginner
I gave Ed the red hot demon soul and I still can’t forge anything. Am I missing something or does anybody know how to fix it. I started a new character because of it and now it’s doing it again.
Like forging boss weapons and stuff? You need a +7 weapon most of the time.
I chose knight and now I need to use magic but don’t have a caster how can I find one
there should be a silver catalyst in the area above the fools idol boss arena. travel to the first area of the 3rd archstone (tower of latria), once you disable the big machine thing that shoots arrows go behind it, to the left and up the stairs.
There should be a wooden catalyst on top of the watchtower in 1-2, not long after beating the Phalanx boss of 1-1.
I had only played elden ring and dark souls 3 before playing demon souls on my ps5. I enjoyed my playthrough of demon souls but it was much easier I only died to 3 bosses but died way more times on the run up to the bosses and from falling
So I can't leave a summon sign when in body form only when Im in souls form?
Yes
New to this game, and really struggling with not being able to save the game, get so far into a level then die , back to the start again and again , any tips on how to not let this make me stop playing ? Thanks
The game saves constantly, what you are losing is your progress inside a level. My advise is to take it slow and steady, make a mage build (we have builds on the channel and the wiki) and follow the game progress route: demonssouls.wiki.fextralife.com/Game+Progress+Route You can watch the videos to get an idea of how to go through a level. Once you get the hand of it you will have fun :D

I'm genuinely confused about the invasion limit. I see the description at the bottom, does it mean I'm turning on or off invasions? Or something else
Normally multiplayer is limited to a Soul Level range based on the level of the host. Turning the limit off for invaders means you could be Soul Level 20 and get invaded by a Soul Level 712 player(if I'm remembering the max level cap).
@@XoRandomGuyoX Ok cool! Thank you so much! I understand now

demonssouls.wiki.fextralife.com/Demons+Souls+Wiki this is the wiki :)
why couldnt they just add a freaking simple respec option...
They wanted stats to feel permanent
Glad im not a new player. And played demon souls tons of time cant wait to play this remake
Dark Souls is a much better entry to the series, Demon Souls mechanics are confusing as hell.
@@MadOrange644 Well it was the original souls game so it definitely wasn't gonna be as polished as their later games.
i been seeing messages to jump from nexus to die, should i or should i just stay alive?
This is because the Tendecy, if you die in body form outside the Nexus, the world tendency goes black, so the game became more hard and new enemies appears. The people jump and die because they want to play in soul form and with a white Tendency.
@@IAM___ARI So basically it’s better to have a white tendency?
Whats the name of the sword from the knight in 0:02 - 0:04 ?
That is The Penetrator. He is a Boletarian boss and has the hardest to acquire equipment in the Remake. I think the Penetrator sword is acquired the same way as the armor set. You need to play the game in fractured mode, in both world tendencies and acquire 26 coins hidden throughout the game to trade with Sparkly the Crow for a key that unlocks a gate that is behind an illusory wall that is behind another locked gate that you get later in the Boletarian area once you have killed one of the archdemons...
Yes it is a lot.
Lmao shoutout to IncredibleAnus @ 8:36
How do buy stuff with souls, how do I use souls, why am I collecting them, how do I assign them? That's what I need to know
Solo souls farming is always a matter of visiting the Shrine of Storms; barring some strange nerf in the remake. The further you can get the better: skeletons in the first area, the first reaper in the second area, or the flying creatures in the third area. E.g. it was easy to get the 20,000 souls or whatever was needed for 99 Fresh Spice from the merchant woman in 3-1.
So you recommend using shields through out the game? I’ve always roll in other souls games ;(
rolling is good here too,
I wanna get this game whenever I’ll be able to get my hands on a PS5 but Ik on the fence cuz the game is very challenging 😭 and I get mad fast
Anybody know how to get your first spell and where the spell vendor is in the nexus? I have the miracle guy and I’m over level 10 in Magic I just can’t seem to find the spell vendor or any info online to help
I need this too
He's on the opposite side of the Nexus from the miracle guy
Just came back and got a PS5 since 2007 with PS3. Demon Souls is my first game and I almost broke my new controller. Love the feeling you get when you finally beat a boss. Thank you for the guide and wiki m8😀
How do you respec? I thought the remake had a system at the statue or is that aesthetics only?

I'm so terrible at this game but I want to keep playing. Just got to the Tower Knight and am raging but can't put it down.
How do you cast spells in this game? I learned two spells and have one equipped but it's not letting me use it. Am I missing something?
Catalyst bro.
You can only cast spells if you have a catalyst equipped, and if you have attuned / memorized the spells so they are showing up on your spell slots on the bottom left of the screen.
So what your saying is if I die once it’s just fuck me? Seems like good game design
So that’s who I died to! Some bastard invaded me and I had no idea what it meant so I just carried on. Next thing I knew I got stabbed in the back and died. I thought it was like some rare encounter or something
Hey guys I just started playing this game in ps5, I’ve never really played a souls game before and I’m really excited to play more. So far I’ve just kept dying in the beginning lol, anyone got any tips ?
Can you change the button layout? I like the style of these games but I couldn't play bloodborbe bc of the attack button layout. I like the nioh layout much better but I couldn't find a way to swap those on ps4 hoping ps5 is different
So helpful
Nah mate co-op going up to 6 was crazy
This video will be useful in a couple months lol
So I found some dragons did I go the right way? In the first area
I got used to DS3, BB, DS1, Elden ring way of development. I don't say Demon is something utterly different, but I am demoralised playing this game initially. I don't know what's going on. This video only slightly gave me some clues. Is this be another SEKIRO like surrender for me? Im gathering courage now. 😂
In summary
Step 1: git gud
Step 2: profit
