I'm not sure I've ever seen a big win get forgotten as much a BYU's over SMU. That was a big win, but it was so early that everyone--myself included--kind of forgets it happens.
Always love your analysis! Big game this weekend in BR, which is frankly a playoff elimination game. Hope you get the chance to see the game, and looking forward to your analysis on Sunday. In my view, too much football left to go to be too worried about rankings right now. These things tend to work themselves out.
Glad you pushed back on them mattering while Galloway was being nonchalant about it. These initial rankings absolutely matter. @andrewgiegerich8211 Any power 4 team that goes undefeated should be in. That's what the controversy was to me. That team earned that opportunity. Since they didn't get it, they were gutted before the bowl game. A shell of themselves. Heck, they still are lol for different reasons now.
The only way the Big XII can get 2 teams is if BYU goes 12-0 and then loses the conference championship game. Anything else and they only get 1 team in.

I get so tired of the “who have you beaten” argument. And Greg is the worst about it. Teams can’t control who’s on their schedule. If the 1985 Chicago Bears had Army’s schedule, people would still be arguing that they haven’t beaten anybody. It’s the committee’s responsibility to evaluate the performance on the field of each team - not just stack best wins and worse losses. I hope Greg sees this.
@@karofy754 Exactly. I'm a Texas fan so all of the arguments against us are "well you don't have any Top 25 wins". Well it's not Texas' fault that Oklahoma and Michigan both stink. The only thing that Texas can control is how well they play and they curbstomped both of those teams. The committee should be able to tell the difference between a last second FG victory and a 30pt beatdown of an unranked team in assessing the quality of a team - not just counting how many "Top 25" wins you have and nothing else matters.
