    Terbaik boss...penerangan yang jelas dan mudah difahami. Saya ada tanam musangking dan 101 umur dah 4tahun. Tapi masih tidak mengeluarkan bunga dan berbuah. Mungkin tidak betul cara penjagaan yg saya amalkan.

    Thanks for sharing your expertise. Can you trim off the apical branch once the tree reaches a height of 9-10 feet so as to make the durian tree grow sideways? I am considering from a small garden standpoint [as opposed to a durian farm which has plenty of land].

    Good explanation, btw how to select productive branches, and what is optimum no.branches per tree to keep?

    • @durianabcabc2157
      @durianabcabc2157  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks. Those horizontal branches are productive. No need to worry about optimum number, some branches will dried out or blown down over time, advise to keep as many as possible.

    Here in Australia I grow several variety of Durian trees, Monthong Chanee and D24 on my hobby farm
    Chanee and D24 have fruited for the first time this year and all grown from seed. Monthong is grafted.
    In our area I have kept seedling trees pruned to a height of 4 meters to help protect them from over turning in case of Cyclones. I'm hoping this wont effect their future fruit production to much.
    I appreciate you sharing your knowledge and look forward to your other videos.
    Hoping you will do one on pest and disease control. Thanks

      Nice varieties mix you got there buddy. Yes tree low height training method is viable as well. The side branches & water shoots' growth will be more vigorous. As long as water shoots are pruned regularly, the side branches will be productive. In some cases, water shoots' stems got so fat and causing side branches to dry out.

    Is there a general guideline how many branches to keep in order for more fruits? I've heard some farmers saying don't keep more than 20 branches as it will use up too much nutrient and cause late and less fruits? True or false?

    Thanks for sharing. Would like to know more on the tools that use in pruning works. For older durian trees it is too high to reach so what will you recommend to do pruning?

    • @durianabcabc2157
      @durianabcabc2157  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you. Usually for older trees a sickle is recommended coupled with bamboo to reach further pruning distance. May need tall ladder & some balancing skills.

    • @durianabcabc2157

      Check out our latest video about pollination. Generally the effective period is from late evening to next morning during anthesis day1.

      @@durianabcabc2157 Thanks mate. I'm a keen gardener, curious about durian planting. My question is pollination must take place during time of flower opening n remain receptive assuming stigma remain receptive in order that pollen tube have enough time to grow down the ovule to complete fertilisation . appreciate if you could help.

    • @durianabcabc2157
      @durianabcabc2157  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes the anther will dehiscence for pollen around 6-7pm during anthesis day1, and stamens will drop (though dropped, anther still active for another 12 hour max in room temp) on next morning. Most cultivars have stigma which are receptive (stigmatic fluid) from 3pm till next morning, some rare cases the stigma still receptive after 24 hour. so the pollination window usually max 6-12 hours (7pm-7am). Nonetheless let nature pollinators do its' work, unless you are aiding pollination by hand.

    • @henryyong5974

      @@durianabcabc2157 Many thanks and much appreciated for your time. In the process, it's also critical to know time required for pollen tube to grow down ovule to complete fertilisation while it's still receptive.

    Sifu,did you cut off the main branch to limit the height of the main branch? If do so, when is the best time to cut off? Thanks very much .

    • @durianabcabc2157

      No i didn't. But i have heard topping off the apical branch may be the new way of managing, usually around 15 years old height.

  • @CrisostomoIbarraMI6
    @CrisostomoIbarraMI6 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Sir, do you apply paint or solvent to the cut branches? To protect the branch from insects?

    • @durianabcabc2157
      @durianabcabc2157  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have not tried those on cut branches. Cut surface surface should be slanted and not horizontal so rain water will not accumulate, hence free from fungi attack.
