    I’m from Australia and I’ve got a 2017 WR450F
    Do mainly fire trails, single tracks and some minor enduroish hill climbs/goat tracks.
    Looking at a T7 for the on-road capability and I’m keen for more exploring. Tell me, should I buy one? Lol

      The T7 still stands as the best bike I’ve ever owned and it does so much incredibly well. It is genuinely mind blowing how capable it is. I would highly recommend it but keep the WR too for the much more technical stuff. I will be keeping mine for sure and getting a WR one day. My mistake was dropping the €3k on the suspension instead of going for the WR. Easier to say that now though as my experience with the suspension has been nothing short of a nightmare

    Nice, I still got the stock tires on my t7, front feels dodgy in the mud

      Stock tyres and stock suspension is terrible. Everything else though is amazing in fairness. The bike works extremely well and performs in places it probably shouldn’t. If I could wave a magic wand I’d put the weight down lower and shave 50kg. If you could do that it one genuinely be the best bike on the market

    Blokes are stripping them down & racing in the Erzberg Rodeo on T700’s .. so yea mate some people use them for enduro.

      It’s an incredibly capable machine, even more so in the hands of people over 6ft. That’s a big one, the height of the T7 makes it cumbersome for anyone under 6ft in the more technical stuff. Won’t stop me from trying though 😂

    Where in Ireland is it? I am living here too and looking for off road roads.

    Hello, thanks for sharing. I noticed that you said that you "probably should have not spent money on the suspension and got a different bike". If you did get another bike, which would it be instead of the T7? Thanks in advance. Kind regards. 🙏

      A particularly bad day this one 😂 But yes I still stand by that, basically I upgraded the suspension which has made a tremendous improvement but the bike still weighs 220kg. For the riding I want to do and push more I should have changed to a road legal enduro bike, something like a WR 450 would be way more fitting. I see single track on solo spins and can’t ride it because what if I get stuck blah blah. The T7 is probably the best bike I’ve ever owned, but it’s not 100% suited to this type of riding and this is what I find myself doing more & more

      Thank you for your fast reply. Indeed, and i agree. I have a crush fro the T7, but wherever i look on YT everyone says the same, it's too top heavy. And this is why i haven't bought one yet. I have a 2006 KTM 525 EXC-F, that weights 114 Kg, but it's converted to supermoto. With 17' street rims and tires it probably weights more. It's feels slightly too heavy for the streets if you ask me. But it does the job very well. And then i have a 2009 WR250F, which i use in the woods. It's also slightly too heavy for me, because I'm not a big guy. (177cm/64Kg). I'm thinking of selling both bikes and would like to try out a 21' or later KTM 500 Six Days. They weigh around ~106.5 Kg. Perfect to use on single track and easy to convert to a SM if you wish to ride it on the streets. Nothing beats a WR450F, but their slightly heavier than a KTM 500. I would go Japanese all day everyday, that's my first choice. But i have to give the KTM 500 a try to be honest.

      @@emperorkhan9941 Ye it sounds to me if you get the T7 for anything off road orientated then you’ll find it too heavy. I’m about 85kg in my birthday suit and do a lot of heavy weight lifting. I can deadlift 100kg for 8 reps and 4 sets quite easily. This helps me tremendously when lifting the T7 up. Even though I consider myself strong though, I’m short too at just 5’9. Probably very similar to you actually. 32” inseam but it can still be hard to get the foot down depending on the terrain i.e if the ground is fallen away on each side of a track for example.
      Again though, the T7 is probably the best bike I’ve ever owned. So don’t let me put you off entirely. My problem is that my skillset doesn’t match for the bike in the terrain I want to ride 😂😂 Pol Tarres is a beast and shows the bike in an incredible light, the only problem is he’s 1 in 7 billion from what I can see

    • @emperorkhan9941
      @emperorkhan9941 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@motorbikediaries That's a good reference. I'm 5'9 as well and i lift heavy weights as well, 4-5 times/week. Before my knee injury a dead lifted around 80~90 Kg, for the same reps/set range. Today i try not to lift that heavy/hard but still challenging enough around 60+ Kg. I'm also 32" inseam.
      Yeah overall i think the T7 is a really good bike, the engine is well known from the MT-07, so no doubt about that. But I'm guessing the same as you, that my skillset won't match the bike in the terrain I wish to ride in.
      By the way Pol Tarres is NOT 1 of 7+ billion. I bet Pol Tarres is from another planet. 🤣
      👍

    • @motorbikediaries
      @motorbikediaries  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@emperorkhan9941 The bike itself is incredible, and the engine is proven to be the most reliable engine on the market presently. It literally ticks so many boxes it’s crazy. And even off road, it’s still an incredible bike that gives so much satisfaction when you take it places it has no right being. I’ve done the suspension now so I’ll be keeping it and buying a second bike like a WR. But for now the T7 remains the only one in the stable and that’s definitely not a bad thing, just helps that I do lift the weights because it comes in handy on pretty much every spin 😂😂

    Stock suspension ?

    • @motorbikediaries
      @motorbikediaries  ปีที่แล้ว

      No it’s a Tractive closed cartridge setup in the forks and Tractive Pro rear shock. In this video the fork spring was wrong though. My latest video is an update on the whole thing

    • @AdvGuru
      @AdvGuru ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I found the stock suspension of my T7. To be so soft, unable to adjust for enough stiffness for cross ruts, small, jumps, rocky jeep roads. Most affordable option would be progressive springs. Which, is all I had to do to the shock. I got Ktech fork inserts for about $900 US. world of difference. Much more responsive on and off road

    • @motorbikediaries
      @motorbikediaries  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AdvGuru In hindsight I wish I had of just done something like that but it is what it is. The Tractive suspension is very very good none the less

    That is some decent off-roading, way over the comfort zone for this machine. Yamaha should sponsor you, as nothing is better for profits than a bad example. And about being lost and in bad weather, it's the best part of the experience. Only the major crashes and malfunctions are better.

    • @motorbikediaries
      @motorbikediaries  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I wouldn’t say no to a sponsorship deal. Especially if it was to come with a WR 450 😂
