Continuous video autofocus of all three Sigma lenses gave me a lot of trouble, especially at higher apertures. Replacing them with Sony little by little now, zero issues there.
@@JasonMorrisphotocinema Agree, that would be great video. For video I still use the Sigma 16mm and 30mm on A7C even in ff mode for 2.39x aspect ratio output, or if I'm doing stabilization in Catalyst Browse, without clear image zoom in camera.
The most important question is what camera and lens are you using to record in your studio at the beginning of the video? Probably the best lighting/sharpness/ I've seen on a youtube video. Literally watched the video 3 times.
Was led here after watching your FX30 videos and how funny is that you mentioned that we may be seeing Sony's 10bit APS-Cs soon. Well you got that right man! Still deciding on choosing the right lenses for the FX30, hopefully more lenses will be released soon to support the FX30!
I just purchased my FX30 but I've yet to decided on a lens! Any updates since you last posted this? What did you end up going with and what's the lens like?
Sigma weighs almost the same as two Sonys (405 vs. 219 grams). We have 242€ difference in price here in France. For me, APC-S is about the size. I'll get the Sigma zoom. (E 1.8 / 11mm already in my bag)
I have that sigma and is fair good, although i heavy ass hell and bulky, also the compensation colors are not very good in low light conditions, you need a tripod to not ruin a picture
Just subscribed! Dope content 🔥 what would you recommend for capturing nightclub/night events with the zve10? The 11mm or the 15mm? I'm getting by with the 30mm sigma, gimbal and kit lens and looking to upgrade the flash table service photos. Appreciate your help on this. Love from CDMX 🤙
Sick review man, you must have pumped out so much content while you were on holidays! If I didn't already have the Sigma 16mm f1.4 I would have bought the Sony 15mm for sure. I will take a lens with a physical iris ring on it over one without any day. Still the Sigma 16 is no slouch, super nice to manual focus with having its nice wide focus ring. People really cant go wrong with either!
I currently own the Viltrox 13mm, and the Sigma 16mm. Both are great, and a no-brainer for me to purchase at its price. The Sony is very impressive as well, however, the price prevents me from pulling the trigger. I’m good with my “Budget Wides”. Great video, and lovely family, may mans. 🍻

Also when clicking 'Buy' on the webpage it just refreshes the page instead of moving down to the LUTs. Just wanted to give you a heads-up!
How about if putting this lens on Full-frame body than have active stabilization turned on.. is it going to cover up or no? but absolutely best review.. it was worth watching!
I just ordered an E10 with this lens. I considered the Sigma and have a few outstanding Sigma’s I’ve been using with my Canon SLR but it was only a $200 price difference between the two lenses and when you’re already dumping at least $1000 into a camera, it was a buy once cry once decision.
What video settings is used for the videos in E10 using the Sony 15mmor Sigma. I wondr if you have any Sony 11mm in cropped mode (using Active Steady Option) would look? Thanks Jason!
That is truly a shocking cry of war for competition, I like it! A first party making lenses equal to third party, maybe more expensive, maybe just about the same thing, but on the upper hand, they got fully native compatibility from the first day, no firmware shit.
I would like to ask if the 11mm will look the person skinnier when taking a picture or video due to the wider lens ? Or this 15mm is more ideal for normal looking size ?
All good. But I just switched from ZV-E10 to A7SIII and realized that in the range of 16mm@1.x full frame there's nothing besides 3000$ 2.8 zoom lenses
it makes a drastic difference in everything low-light compared to apsc - brighter exposure, faster shutter speeds, less noise, higher iso sensitivity/lower iso numbers used, better overall resolution, dynamic range, clarity, contrast, saturation, etc. Look at any apsc vs FF low light test. A larger sensor is better image quality in every way possible. In the daytime, assuming you test with the same lens, and camera setup, apsc and FF may share some crossover in quality, and may even look similar when not zoomed in 1:1, but low light situations is where they diverge from each other. Unfortunately, if you find yourself always maxing out iso and getting noise or blurred shots due to low lighting and longer shutter speeds, what you need is a FF camera first, and not a new lens. If you are hitting a wall with your low light shots, you will always get more benefit upgrading from apsc to full frame first than just upgrading the lens. Even using the same lenses you may already have, like a kit lens, you will get benefits in low light from FF, that you won’t in apsc. I know the general consesnsus in the photo community is to upgrade your lens first and that camera bodies are pretty much the same in terms of performance, or very close and that’s true if you are talking about the cameras within same format. Remember that in most places on the internet, where they are talking about upgrading your lens first (they are usually assuming you are sticking with the same sensor size.) But remember, apsc is a whole nother format compared to Full Frame. It isnt just a change in chip technology, or processing, but a physically larger sensor. And jumping to that larger sensor size affects everything about the image -mainly it allows you to gather more light, with a higher signal-to-noise ratio, because it literally has more or larger photo cells or both. So this of course will boost primarily, your low light performance, first of all. More light gathering ability via larger sensor, more sensor cells, and larger photo receptor cells working together = not just more low light performance but better low light performance -overall image quality improves as a whole (more than just changing lenses would do in the same format). However, sometimes money dictates our purchases and we have no choice but to upgrade a lens first before a new camera, you’ll still benefit from a new lens, but less so than a jump in sensor size. In that case, just enjoy what you can with what you’ve got. It’s really living the experience and the memories that matter, not the photos.
Hey Jason, I’m using the sigma on MFT and just did a 2 hour shoot looking in focus on the LCD but when looked at the footage on my pc it was super blurry, any ideas?
There's definitely a market for the Sony, but it's too much for hobbyist. Maybe if I'm making good TH-cam money maybe I can afford the Sony to up the quality of my vids, but overall, Sigma for now.
That’s a good point. There is quite a bit of vignetting with full frame. Putting clear image zoom in full frame with 1.2 is almost enough for the 15mm lens
I watched the video but have no idea where's the "SHOCKING!" part? Looks like it's just a good lens compared to another good lens. So is it just clickbait?
Nice video sir J. Sub here!🤝 Been aiming for the Sony 11mm for vlogging since it's very compact and if I have that Sigma 16mm, it's best for sit down videos. 😁
It's really valuable information and good reviews. Good reviews . Im new in vlogging fields and planning to buy camera and lens. Most of my vlogging as video shoots only can say roughly 95%. So which lens best for me for video shooting . Thanks
Price is too much for 15mm VS Sigma. Sharpness is awesome at 15mm but dont worth double the money. So Sigma is still best buy.
Sigma is really hard to beat for that price
which one best lens sigma 16mm or sony 11mm or sony 15mm ? special needs for low light shoot.
@@UnderratedJatt I don't have experience with 11 or 15 but very happy with Sigma 16mm, both sharpness and low light situations on 1.4
