    I got to start over financially at age 43, I'm in 90% stocks now and 10% exchange-traded REITs. Honestly, I'm fine with it. At retirement I plan to switch over to all dividend stocks and just live off the income, not caring a whit about what the day-to-day prices in the market are.

    Great overview of these midstream companies. BTW, Canadian distribution tax withholding is waived for US investors if the stock is held in a retirement account, like an IRA or Roth.

    Good video. I have owned EPD for 9 years. I purchased it because it had a strong balance sheet and well covered with somewhat average but growing dividend. I am a bit disappointed that an aggressive cap x program over the years has not generated even higher returns and therefore a growing stock price. The stock trades at less than it did in 2015. I have held it however, the surprise being at tax time when year after year I have paid no or small amounts on federal taxes on it. Yes it costs me $75 to have my accountant process the K-1, but not paying federal taxes most years in my tax bracket is a big win too.

    Great video, I actually own all three in a retirement account. ENB is my largest position (2.55% of the portfolio), followed by EPD (!.68%) and finally ET (1.59%) EPD and ET go ex-dividend in the 2nd half of this month and ENB goes next month, so I'll most likely be adding to all three positions in the near future.

    I’m compiling and picking stocks that I’d love to hold on to for a few years before retirement, do you think these stocks would do better over the years? I’d love to retire with at least $2million savings. Now you gotta rely on a pretty good diversification if you must stay green. Currently up 21% and being cautious. Still better deal than letting it sit in savings or checking earning near 5% interest.

      Well up at 21% in this present market is impressive. I was wondering if investing in a cumulative ETF during this next decade is a sound investment. Or is it better to invest in a distributing ETF (even considering taxes)?

      I would like to do this and I feel the fear is overblown as well. 2 things that worry me. 2-3 clicks when using taxpackagesupport to get the electronic K1 I assume. How does this take care of the change of basis each year, where your cost basis is lower each year instead of paying tax on a second distribution like a normal c corp? Also how big of a holding do you need to start ugh tax in other states to make it worth filing? Since they operate in many states, you should be filing if your stake is big enough and make a big share of profits in a state with state income tax… would appreciate some insight!

    Im surprised you forgot to mention (unless I missed it) that $ET is three listed MLP’s in one stock (a mini-energy mutual fund/etf) reason I say that is because;
    - $ET owns $SUN (Sunoco) - one of the oldest gas station companies in the US
    - $ET owns $USAC (USA Compression Partners LP)- a leading LNG compression company
    - Both $SUN and $USAC provide awesome sometimes near 10% or more pre tax annual div yields if you buy them individually. 😁

    I own EPD and have so for around 4yrs. With over 830 shares I get over $1600.00 a year. Yes it is taxed different but in the 4 yrs of owning shares I have paid no taxes on this stock. I pay my accountant to do the K-1 tax for this stock and $65.00 to prepare my K-1 tax is worth owning this stock. I have yet to see a downside to EPD. My average price on this stock is $21.18 a share so I am still up on this stock and with reinvested dividends of 14-16 shares a quarter it just keeps building my income if I ever need it.

      The price-to-distributable cash flow (Price / DCF) ratio is used in valuing Midstream Companies/MLPs not P/E. Just like P/E should not be used in valuing REITs in which P/FFO or P/AFFO should be used.

    The K-3 is a new form that all MLPs must provide their unit holders per new IRS rules which show your MLP's international investments. Since most USA MLPs don't have investments outside of the USA it's just more useless paperwork from the IRS. Most MLPs will only send it to you if you specifically request it because it's essentially blank. Neither EPD or ET have international investments so you don't have to worry about the K-3.
    You just have to file the K-1 for both. Which can be daunting at first, but TurboTax can do it for you and if you have a CPA doing your taxes already then it's no big deal at all for them. EPD is pretty straightforward, but ET has several subunits which each have to be reported separately so it's definitely more time consuming.

      So I've never had one of my MLP's not get the K-1 to me by April 1st. In addition, you can download a copy of it from the company website in late March. There are only 2 boxes on the form that you have to transfer to your tax return. The tax benefit is significant with as little as 75 shares. The only downside to a MLP is that you can't hold them in a retirement account but that is negated by the tax-free benefit from depreciation of company assets. Its a win-win. There are plenty of TH-cam videos on how to handle them at tax time. You do yourself a disservice by not fully investigating them. It's very hard to beat the dividends they pay!

      I mean if you think you are getting a good experience with them, that's great. I had a horrible experience with them.
