I lost a great friend recently. He was 18. This makes me miss the good times we had in highschool. I miss the good ol' days. Most of all, I miss you buddy.
I close my eyes Only for a moment, and the moment's gone All my dreams Pass before my eyes, a curiosity Dust in the wind All they are is dust in the wind Same old song Just a drop of water in an endless sea All we do Crumbles to the ground, though we refuse to see Dust in the wind All we are is dust in the wind Oh Now, don't hang on Nothin' lasts forever but the earth and sky It slips away And all your money won't another minute buy Dust in the wind All we are is dust in the wind (All we are is dust in the wind) Dust in the wind (Everything is dust in the wind) Everything is dust in the wind The wind
This is a song that makes you cry, as it opens your heart and soul. This should be the aim of art, and especially of music, even if you do not understand the language, it is sung, it goes right to your Heart, and makes you cry and REMEMBER the times of your Life! A BIG THANK YOU FROM HUNGARY! Yolanda, who feels all right the song...
I can not help but think about " where these people are today" Who they became and how many are still with us. I am a person who can relate to this video. Class of 1979. Lots of memories in this clip!
Means even more now. My mom died from cancer 10 weeks ago. My brother a year ago and my dad 9 years ago. Plus many others. Keep reminding myself that they are in a much better place. But, I have to deal with the pain and the loss 😪
I saw these guys at the Forum in L.A. after this album came out. When they started playing this song the crowd went nuts!! Toward the end he stops singing for just a moment. The entire audience was singing the song along with him!!!
Takes me back to growing up in the ,70s it reminds me of my home town Alhambra CA everything was simply & carefree im 56 now! But this video makes u realize how precious life is& short!!! Awesome concept video!! Excellent thanks for being here!
I had the privilege to see Kansas live yesterday. It was amazing. The musicality was unbelievable, and the band does not get as much credit as the deserve. I also had the opportunity to go backstage with them. i talked to guitarist Rich Williams and violinist David Ragsdale. They were the nicest guys! Anyways, without these guys, I wouldn't have picked up a guitar at all.
Amazing story, and RIP David Ragsdale. I met one of my first guitar heros, Brian Setzer, following a concert with his Orchestra in Columbia Missouri. I mostly play the bass now but once in while, the guitar.
yesterday my friend...12 years ago. time stands still at this place on youtube :D greetings from austria. this was the first song i`ve heard on youtube, 2007
I have no words to tell you how much it means to see a video for this - one of the most memorable songs of my whole life. I closed my eyes on the first note and whispered the words along with the video, then replayed the whole video. I am so glad this was found and rescued! What a beautiful "fit" - your dad did a great job. Tell him I said so! ♥ & Blessings to both & to Kansas, also!
I love this song. Whenever I want to listen to it, this is the video I watch. Thank you so much for making it. It shares the meaning behind the song more than anything that Kansas or their record label could ever produce.
just one of the many great songs from that time. not only were those times where so many people just wish they could go back to, but also wish the music was the same today. a much better place in the world at the time and the music meant something so much different too.
Great job on the video, I really enjoyed it. I'm from that era too and getting closer to being dust in the wind. I was 22 in 1977, man that went fast, but they were good times.
I know im asking the wrong place but does someone know a tool to log back into an Instagram account? I was dumb forgot my login password. I love any tricks you can give me!
@Tatum Cairo Thanks for your reply. I got to the site thru google and im trying it out atm. I see it takes a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
Ps: This my favorite music video of all time. Reminds me of my High School sweetheart who helped me get over perhaps the worst period of my entire life as well as her Church youth group including the adults (Melvin and Gay Gray) being baptized in Corpus Christ. Excluding my wife and children. 1977 was the best year of that era. I am so grateful to have been born when I was born. Yes we had hell on earth, but I fear the worst is now and perhaps to come. Most of the advancements today have been of no gain. Yeah I use them to....
It's so awesome that your father's video was nearly lost to time, but now over 7,850,000 people have viewed it! Love that modern technology makes the past so much more accessible :)
I jus wanna say that this is how i found this song 15 Years ago in my Homeland - Poland. Young hippie with Dreams. Now I am 30 yo Rocker touring Europe and USA playing in ADAM BOMB. In hard times I want to listen to this song. It keeps me calm and distanced to all Mortal stuff. I am always going to yt and after all those years I could not imagine "Dust in the wind" Without this beautiful video. Say thanks to Your Dad Wherever he is. -Kozzy Havokk
All the years together, lots of good and bad time, I really loved you with my heart and soul, now your dust in the wind, you were great to me baby I could not ask for a better girl, you being killed in that car destroyed my life if you only new how many nights I cry over you even now. I love you nick even through your not here. I'm hurt so bad about you, I ask god why but I never a reply, I know you would not want to see me this way, I wish it was me not you. I guess we are dust in the wind, R, I, P baby your all my dreams, I do love you and will never, never, forget you.
Great film - 1977 was my graduating year, and 'Dust In The Wind' was THE song. You'd put on the headphones and drift off with the lyrics - or park down by the beach and turn up your brand new Pioneer car stereo system. Thanks for the trip through the aisles of my aging memory (the film made it all real again).

Wow where have I been that I missed this....I was 12 in 1977, but I guess that music wasn't being played in my world. Anyway I love it now and it came to mind this morning as a friend has just finished an 8 week 20,000km bike ride through the USA, he had been sending fantastic pictures of his trip on a daily basis and I'm inspired to do similar trip before I become dust in the wind.
Found this song years ago this video to be specific was my first exposure to it I always come back thankful for you uploading this. Everytime I'm low this song definitely helps

My wife, her brother and I seen Kansas in summer of 78 in Folsom stadium in Boulder CO. When DITW played some skydivers jumped out of plane way above the field. Was a super day. I am only 35 years old but this song as well as many others by many other artists have been a major part of my life for as long as i can remember. I listened to them growing up and i still listen to them. My children listen to them as well. There is a lot to be said and heard in the lyrics of these musicians from the 60-70's. Music these days lacks true content. there is no depth or true meaning. I have noticed lately that a new-old trend in music is coming back.
Great video. Even though the people and setting were obviously not the same, this takes me back to countless "frozen in time" moments from my own childhood and adolescence. Definitely stirs feelings of melancholy and contemplation; beautifully done.
Point of no return was the first Kansas album I listened to, and it's still my favorite. When this song came in I couldn't stop playing it! This video is so cool and real. I'm glad your dad made it.
It was a tough video to watch. I was 19 then, and 1977 was the happiest year of my life. To step back to those memories, only to watch them vanish in the dust, is gut-wrenching.
Nice that you were able to restore this film. So much of our past will not be preserved like this, unless people like you keep up this type of effort. My parents had 8mm put onto some VHS tapes, and now it is up to me to have them digitized or they will be lost forever! Thanks for reminding me that I need to do that.
Awesome video, like nothing else out there. It truly brings you to terms with what our life in this Beautiful place we Call Mother Earth is. While we are here, let us love and take care of it and ALL its inhabitants, Human and Non Human, it's the least we can do!
This is awesome... bet he didn't know how cool this would be today.... I was 11 in 1977.. still loved this album.. my oder sister had this album.. never forget.. Cool Video!
Thanks for sharing! The film reminds me of living in Kansas as a kid in the 1970s. At the time my dad was a junior high school art teacher and his students filmed art films like this with a 8mm camera. Unfortunately, "Dust in the Wind" still has implications for the world even now, so long after the Cold War, i.e., saber rattling between the major world powers in Syria and elsewhere.
When I was young I did not understand these words as now . A young person sometimes has a false sense of self importance but the years have a way of revealing the truth . From dust we come and so we return . Very cool song and always was ---also a very good video .
Great video coming from an Amateur. I liked the effects . One of the greatest songs to come out of the 80's. Best known as "Longhaired Rock'. Along with Groups such as Boston and Styx. These groups had raw talent.
This video is amazing. It is evident that this era holds special meaning to you - the simple life. I love symbolism. I'm using abbreviated sentences, thus highlighting the brevity of our existence. Your father's footage captured this theme successfully. How beautiful it would be if we lived our lives were spent as a flower. Sweetening the paths of others, with our fragrance, as they come in and out of our lives. Beautifying our society while fulfilling our Divine purpose. Thanks for posting.
I'm 14 , and the crap we have today is nothing compared to the awesome music there was in the 1970's and 1980's

Good old rock n' roll brought me here

Just rock n' roll
Been watching this video for years. There is nothing like it.
Probably one of the greatest songs ever written.
Supposedly Livgren wrote it in his darkest days
I lost a great friend recently. He was 18. This makes me miss the good times we had in highschool. I miss the good ol' days. Most of all, I miss you buddy.
Really sorry for your loss sir. I know how you miss him. I had a songwriting buddy lost back in 1994. I think of him him often.
I close my eyes
Only for a moment, and the moment's gone
All my dreams
Pass before my eyes, a curiosity
Dust in the wind
All they are is dust in the wind
Same old song
Just a drop of water in an endless sea
All we do
Crumbles to the ground, though we refuse to see
Dust in the wind
All we are is dust in the wind
Oh
Now, don't hang on
Nothin' lasts forever but the earth and sky
It slips away
And all your money won't another minute buy
Dust in the wind
All we are is dust in the wind
(All we are is dust in the wind)
Dust in the wind
(Everything is dust in the wind)
Everything is dust in the wind
The wind

@@Sleep659 Hi dude from my future.
Beautiful. Even after all these years.
Another gem Mark. Beautiful rendition of a classic song. Your photography was the perfect backdrop for the lyrics.
Este video es mil veces mejor que el original, representa con exactitud el mensaje de la canción... Gran trabajo...
Man, its shame youtube lists this so far down now, even the family guy one is higher, should be the official video smh
I'm 15 years old and i am proud to say that i will forever love and remember this music, and i will show my children what real music was.
You had any kids yet bro ?
I really wish I could go back and live during this time.
I did. And believe me, I wish I could do it again. Everybody says the music of their generation was the best, but I really believe it.
@@SueDNim Kansas had and still has some of the best music ever recorded. They have many more songs like this one with lyrical depth and scope.
Thanks to your father. My emotions goes 400/mph

Thanks. 1977 is very special to me. The year I graduated from high school!
It's not just a song, it's a feeling, and the BEST of all, I can't explain what happens to me when I hear and feel it.
Thanks for sharing this, mate. Who know all those years ago that the video wouldn't just survive, but thrive, in a new millennium? It's a miracle.

Everybody talks about the song, which don't get me wrong is great, but the video is perfect... I can't find words to describe it... I'm speechless ...
Heard this performed tonight by the band. Still have it after 39 years of rockin on.
