    This really does go to show that you can do a lot with a small space and small budget. I really like the additions you’ve made, especially the LED signals.
    Keep up the great work :)

    Love the shot across the grass. It would be great to see how you build the loco and wagon kits!

      Cheers Simon! It’s a new angle and it seems to have gone down well; so I’ll try it out again for sure. I would like to do a video on that and may well do so for the next wagon kit. Hopefully you’ll get to have a play this summer!

    If it is anything like my garden railway you will never be completely satisfied and will always want to extend and alter it. Nice video, I like home made items.

      That’s very true! Many thanks. I enjoy watching videos of your railway too. Great work.

    Love the long shot as the train leaves the shed and approaches the station 👌☺

    Josh in such a small space you have added some really nice detail especially the station and signals. It doesn't matter how big or small your layout is as long as your having fun that's what it's all about.

    Great work with the lighting. What did we do before LEDs? And to think that the people who discovered LEDs couldn’t think of a use for them... Les

    Nice touch. Since you have a battery box, maybe you can have some sound module to play some random background noise, announcement. I have a very inexpensive small board that plays mp3 off an sd card. Starts automatically when powered and loops the audio. You can fit few hours in mp3 even on a 1GB card, so it does not feel like a repeated short clip.

      Hi there! Thanks for the comment. That is a very good idea. I will investigate some options. A nice back sound would be nice on a summer day.

      @@joshw6226 Google "wtv20sd-sd", it is a few dollar small mp3 player with a built in amp. I have used this unit when a friend ask me build him a background audio unit. It runs on 3 AA rechargeable batteries. If you ground the first button input, it will play the 01.mp3 from the SD card as soon as it starts up. Does not get any cheaper than that. Just make sure you get a 1gb microSD card and not bigger.

      I will certainly look at that. I like the idea of adding sound to the railway to make it feel more realistic. It’s a great asset that usually works well on indoor railways but I am sure works just as well outside too. Thanks for your guidance. :)

    Great railway. where do you get he track? How to you weather proof the outdoor elements? what scale figures would go with it!

    • @joshw6226
      @joshw6226  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you very much! The track is a mix of Peco SM32 (mainly purchased from Derails Models online) and Cliff Barker flexitrack which is available on his website. The track doesn’t need weatherproofing which is a bonus and all locos, stock and buildings have a few layers of varnish on to keep them protected. Anything wooden gets treated also, but all in all, it is fairly low maintenance.
      Best wishes

    Hi Josh, can you help please I am wanting to build a garden railway the same layout as yours with what I am told is a balloon loop at each end joined by a single track so I get continuous running , what I am struggling with is the 'Y' piece of track which joins the loop to the single line, I dont wan't points that I would have to switch every circuit ,what did you use and more importantly where I can I buy them ? hope you can help regards Norm

    • @joshw6226
      @joshw6226  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Norm, no problem at all.
      This is exactly the same problem I had. I wanted to have a continuous run and just let the train go round without needing to do anything. I found an easy solution however. I used Peco SM32 points (excellent service from Derails Models). Between the switches there is a little square panel that lifts out. Underneath, there is a piece of V shaped wire which moves when the points are thrown and essentially ‘locks’ the switches. You can easily remove this and the switches will then move freely with the weight of the train passing over it. Put plenty of grease under the blades and make sure the train has enough weight on it. It should then pass round the opposite way each time depending on which route it took exiting the points. Works wonders for me!
      Best wishes
      Josh

    • @joshw6226
      @joshw6226  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      All the best Norm. It may take a little while before they run 100% effectively but make sure the blades are clear of any debris or ballast and they get a regular oiling.
