Roar 2024 red stag hunting New Zealand - solo public land

  • This was a 4 day solo hunt on doc land in the south island. My goal for this trip was to shoot something with a good bit of bone on its head. I managed to secure a solid 12 point stag, which ended up being the best stag that I saw during this trip. It was the third trip I have made into this area.

    Thanks for sharing with us. Really enjoyed watching what I used to be able to do when I was much younger, but without cameras or jet boils (or lightweight tents) . Thanks again, great photos and awesome animal, cheers.

    Great vid mate and really nice head, well done. What sort of bivvy bag is that and does it breath well or do you find it gets a bit damp inside? Cheers Phil

      Cheers, It’s just a old fairy down one, and it dose get quiet damp. Don’t think they make them anymore.

    You did well to find a 12 ptr in area as overpopulated with deer as that.

      As a 70 year old I'm always looking for DOC land I can drive into
      as I no longer have the young legs that I used to have any tips please?
