_"You are reaching the end of your journey. It is not always a happy thing."_ Berserk will always be absolutely phenomenal. Thanks for the interesting video ML!
Based video. I don’t think there is enough talk about how complex the background characters are and how well miura managed to make them feel impactful in their few moments.
One piece that was overlooked on this is that mistress Flora was exiled from the Elf island for a great transgression, I believe she used magic to revive/save him by some eldritch power.
Good point. My guess is that the taboo Flora broke was using magic to rebirth Gaiseric’s lover into Danaan. Seeing as how all the godhand does is rebirth individuals who sacrifice to them- and them being explicitly evil- it would make sense for rebirth to be taboo among the ethical magic users. Perhaps she even had to tap into the godhand’s power to accomplish reincarnating Danaan. I don’t think it could have been turning Gaiseric into Skull Knight tho, because I think he had to go thru the whole process of the berserker armor devouring his soul. I think Flora ultimately did incarnate what remained of his soul into the armor SK currently resides in, tho I don’t think that came until after he had slain the previous 4 godhand members.
Yea i feel like its a FMAB thing where the forbidden act was her binding his soul to his skull knight armor, since its said he basically died by bleeding every drop of blood from wearing the berserker armor. But, like in FMAB, it has limitations. Perhaps she could only do a piece of his soul, and that piece, was vengeance.
I also think she used her power to help turn Gaiseric into Skull Knight. We saw early with the slug/parasite apostle arc that those who are involved with the Godhand and the Apostles have their souls pulled into the depths of the vortex, enemies and allies alike (though hatred may also be required, unsure). So Gaiseric, linked to the Godhand and dying of blood loss from the berserker armor, should have had his soul dragged away into the abyss. Magic would likely be necessary to alter that fate and allow them to act in the physical world. Flora seems to have escaped this fate herself, though whether all magic users could or if some other factors were at play is unknown.
Phenomenal essay. As I also grow older, wiser, and more calm along with Guts throughout the years, I'm beginning to think Berserk may be a tale about life taking it's natural course of misfortune, and learning to survive it, grow, get passed it, and moving on. Learning to value other things much more important than anger and the past; The present and a better future.
Yeah, Guts' story is great but there is also the other side of the coin. The story about dream and conviction to achieve it, the story of the other common child but with a clear goal in his mind, the story of a man who rewrite the 1000years history of a nation, the bigger story, the tale of Griffith the white hawk.
I still can't help but grieve for the loss of Kentaro Miura. He was such a brilliant creative mind and his work has done so much for me in maintaining my own existence. I will never forget this fact and I will always honor him for the man and mind that he was. He is not just one of my favorite writers and artists of all time (if not my absolute favorite) but he is one of my favorite people to have ever lived. Whether it be a year, ten years, or the rest of my own life that goes by I will always honor him.
Great Video. Skull knight's character arc is very subtle, but god damn the parallels that Skull knight shares with Guts! His own eclipse, and Void as his Femto, the downfall of kingdom and berserker armor. Miura's ability to sprinkle satisfying bits and crumbs of history and lore to the readers, whilst practically revealing none is crazy.
9:24 I want to add to this theory. I believe Zodd is King Gaiseric's physical body. - You can see the Lion on his skull helmet when he was human. Zodd is a chimera of sorts with the head of a Lion - They both have an endless thirst for battle and bloodshed I willing to bet that Zodd is Gaiseric's beast of darkness and as he lost his humanity, it got separated from him. Skull Knight constantly clashes with Zodd throughout the story but never kills him eventhough he easily could. (Afterall he's on even footing with the Godhand who could easily defeat Zodd) I think it's because he's holding back because he isn't sure of the consequences of killing his physical body. Just a lil theory
More easily a frenemy, like the relation between Gatsu and Grifis... unless his true frenemy is Void (but it's implied that Void was present in the former GodHand incarnation, so maybe not)... 🤔 ...Miura, why you had to go at this point of the story? 😢
What a fantastic final set of chapters from Miura… giving us Casca back, Skull Knight lore, and that phenomenal cliffhanger ending. Which seems to be the official ended… R.I.P Kentaro Miura.
sad that there was no full ending and his assistants didnt get to finish it. but i certainly enjoyed the journey and Kentaro Miura left us a masterpiece that will be passed down and live on. RIP Kentaro Muira and thank you
@@yagmi6182 Not gonna lie, I’d be incredibly interested to see if his assistants could continue the story. If it sucks, we’d still have Miura’s work to it’s end and in my opinion wouldn’t damage at all what he gave us. If it’s good and what Miura would’ve wanted then Berserk fans get a completed/continued story. I see no real reason to not continue unless Miura didn’t leave enough story details on how he wished to proceed with Berserk-post 364 or it’s 100% out of respect to conclude with his final chapter and let it be the end. However, if we see no continuation of Berserk ever and it is officially over with 364 then it is a wonderful ending to the manga that just like it’s mangaka, ended too soon.
@@NutsorSomethingBerserk the assistant can’t win this... if his final is dope it will be remembered as berserk ( miura) and if he fuck it up berserk fans will end his career. I knew the day he died berserk couldn’t get a proper ending and with so much fanatics nobody would dare to take a shot at a proper ending.
@@grandvizir It’s shoes that anyone stepping into can never be filled. No matter if it’s someone Miura himself would’ve picked to continue the story. But I, again, would be interested in at least seeing someone make an attempt. If they believe that Miura would’ve wanted Berserk to continue and he left enough behind for someone to possibly pick up the baton, I’d be game to see them at least try. If we never get anymore Berserk though, I am content with that reality. Miura was Berserk and the only way I’d ever see this working and only way I’d ever want the story to continue with another person at the helm is if he gave his assistants or left behind enough material to progress the story past 364. If all he was able to complete and leave us with was chapter 364 then I wouldn’t want anyone to touch Berserk. You’re right though about anyone who picks it up runs the risk of easily butchering the story, art work, etc or just making a weaker product that fans just can’t gravitate to the same way they did with Miura. It’s just my 2 cents tho. I’d just like to see a try at it if they have the resources to do it. If they don’t, don’t.
@@NutsorSomethingBerserk 100%, i just assume it was over when i read about his passing, that's why i was so mad about it. The "true ending" we will never get, the last harsh lesson of berserk i guess... in our wettest dream we can pray about a secret book with the last chapters, at least the storyboard, especially when the vibe felt different in the last chapters. Anyway, berserk have always been like this, take what you're given and appreciate it, you never know when it comes and if it ever will. And besides the out of this world graphic level needed to finish it, you would still need the mastermind behind it imo. But if anyone have the guts to risk a career on this i will be a first hour supporter for sure ! Can't get enough berserk overall, no matter what form it takes !
I hope his assistants continue it. Obviously no one will ever be able to mimic Miura's thought process in this, his style and his personal touches, but if there are notes, and if he truly did try to teach his assistants at least some of what he was going for before he died like I've heard, then I'd like to see what the assistants can do. With something as beloved as Berserk and with how close they were to Miura, I like to think they'll take it seriously, and as such I would like to give them a chance. Even if it comes out bad, at least we'll have received a fair shot with the notes and ideas left behind by the main man himself, and we can live out our lives knowing where the series truly ended.
It's a hit or miss I believe... It's a masterpiece that has no rival, it's so hard to continue working on it and I also have the feeling that it wasn't finished any time soon. It was his life work. (And I would love to know the ending, or more information about certain characters as well... But I do believe that it's best to let the story rest in peace together with Kentaro Miura)
There are no winners here, if berserk ends it ends, if his assistants continue, regardless of what they do they'll be criticized but I feel they should go with it because berserk still does not have a mainstream following and as far as I've interacted with the fan base, we'll be happy with new berserk content
@@vishnueashwar His assistant stated that they knew the story and knew how to mimic miura's style at 99%. The reason why its not being continued is that in Japanese culture its incredebly disrespectful to continue someone's work after he passed away, and thats why they refuse to do it out of respect for miura.
I'm honestly hoping the story isn't over. I imagine the beast of darkness is really gonna try to tempt Guts and enact his revenge and we see another huge internal conflict.
The part that made me think that was when skull knight was carrying guts off after the eclipse it’s like he either did not want to kill guts or couldn’t kill guts I’m not sure which is which but he definitely hesitated for sure
@@1o98765rtg when Griffith became a godhand member, only his negative aspects of himself were kept. He is hyperfocused on his goals, and truly has no reason to deal with Guts. Granted, now I haven't read physically this far but got some knowledge on the matter of the moonlight child...I feel like it's a form of possession. Idk if Griffith really feels... anything other than like the boy being a distraction. The tears in his eyes after the transformation in front of guts though, idk honestly! Definitely need more information
HOWEVER Demons do show emotion so idk if this is an inconsistency. We saw this with the slug count, we saw the fear in the snake apostle. So maybe not all humanity is lost unless godhands are really a different tier in terms of emotion. In that case, Griffith is really having an oh shit moment. It's confusing, but that's the beauty of it
Thank you for this! when i read the last chapters of the manga my conclusions were exactly the same as yours and i think is a beautiful end if that's the case, i learned this myself trough my own life, had a childhood filled with violence and abuse, growed up to be a raging asshole and started on a path of alcholism that could have end my life, and as i decided that i had suffered enough and started to get help, to trust in friends and talk about my problems in therapy and A.A., i began to heal, and the desire for revenge that i had with those who gave me that pain began to dissapear, when i read those last chapters of Berserk i cried my ass off because that was exactly the way it feeled, so if the manga ends this way, i would be happy, it doesn't have to close all the loose ends, life never does that anyway, for me, finding a long deserved rest after so much struggle is enough. Thanks!
Everyone forgets, karma/causality is not a circle, indeed it is a spiral. Flora taught us this. It's really sad, but farnese would die. This would drive everyone into a horrible rage against Griffith. Flora would come and remind Schierke not to lose herself. Schierke would do this for Guts while he's about to die. Then, Griffith would not kill Guts or casca because of the moonlight child. Serpico would attempt to kill Griffith but to no avail. We'd then get a Serpico growth arc. Something we haven't gotten yet. Casca seeing the loss of her beloved sister/security blanket forces her to face her trauma head on and she does so because she realizes that's what Farnese would have wanted. This is as much as I can tell from what we got and my 30 read throughs of Berserk. After that it's a mystery
Based on my understanding, the current griffith is way more complex character now after he got the human body from guts and casca' unborn child. The current griffith still carry his old ambition and personality based on his action on the previous chapters. So i think he still got the strong 'feeling' about guts (and i think he is trying to deny it) and the feeling is now more and more empowered by his worldly body which is guts' child. As he try and rationalize the decision to eliminate guts he is unconsiously help guts many times in child form which is a denial that he has no more 'feeling' to guts anymore (and that he wants to be near guts whenever he can, like in his previous life). Griffith character is truly fascinating, he is both the hero and the villain. He only think others only as his tools to achieve his goal. He only acknowlege one person as fellow person not only tools, Guts. In the current arc, eventhough Griffith has many capable followers again, he still cannot forget about guts so he unconsiously go near him whenever possible(at full moon nights when his power at his max). So when he appear at the last chapter revealing that the child is actually griffith to guts, casca and their friends, I really can't predict what will he do next. Will he at last acknowledge his true feeling and help guts and friends to fight the godhands in order to create a kingdom that truly his without future complication from other godhands or try to sever his bond to guts because now he truly know that guts is the only thing that he care beside his goal and ambition, the only weakness he still has, or something else entirely.
You know, I do like the similarities Hero's shade has with Skull knight. I never thought about it like that until this vid. Moreso I've always wanted to know what majora's mask Link did after the game, how he lost his eye, and how he died.
There was a huge war between hyrule and the Gerardo after the events of OoT take place called the “sealing war”. Theory goes link became a high ranking general /soldier and died in combat.notice how In Tp shade is wearing damaged armor.more then likely from the damage he took in combat.outside of that it’s believed link settled down with Maron and established ordon village after the events of OoT. Hope that kinda cleared things up for you :)
You forgot to mention the taboo Flora committed that led to her banishment from the island, implied to have been attaching Gaiseric's soul to his current suit of armor.
An interesting analysis. It is very tragic that Miura had to go, but so is the way of life... I always imagined that we would be able to get more backstory for Skull Night had the manga continued, probably in a similar form to the Golden Age arc, just much shorter. But then again, I do like how Berserk finished, if it had to finish like this before being officially closed, since it left many open ends, well open. Sometimes it is good to leave certain things mysterious and left the imagination of its readers do the remaining.
Fate really is cruel in berserk the skull night suffered and lost his love and his body in the eclispe and 1000 of years latter his descendant gets forced on by a future god hand just a awful turn of events a final spit in the eye.
I really hope miura sensei's disciples can continue the story with whatever he left behind. I know some would say its disrespectful after his passing but something in me is begging to see it to the end no matter how bitter it is. Hell im sure most of us expected the end wouldnt be a happy one but we want a true end for guts and gang. Either he finally gets to truly rest or die fighting .
Miura said he was gonna give Berserk a good ending, that he couldn’t give such a grim story a bad ending. I REALLY, really hope he told someone how it was gonna end just to have some closure.
I think that Berserk is actually building up to a happy ending. Theres a strong theme of hope in berserk specially when surrounded by pure evil. Guts journey has also been about letting hate go and finding love. I really want to see the ending too and I think it will be a tribute to Miuras live to see his lifes work concluded
Well whatever the case, it will not be the same berserk. Just look at game of thrones, when other beside the original author try to give ending of the unfinished story.
Skullknight is precisely how to implement a ""Gandalf"" character that still has personal and very human driven investments in an outcome. Even if a lot of it can be boiled down to revenge.
It’s interesting how Berserk defines Skull Knight and Guts’ fates as intertwined. It is alluded to that they share a destiny. Reminds me of the concept of reincarnation in Naruto as Naruto and Sasuke were destined reincarnations of Madara and Hashirama.
We know why skull knight is immortal though.. The black smith that made the berserker armor says that HE MADE skull's knight CURRENT armor, heavily implying that it's the armor that's keeping him alive. Of course there's more to it, but you can't just forget that point..
I always viewed skull knight as the mentor who claims to not care what happens to guts but his actions show other wise yes at first it was just a chance meeting but before it’s end he clearly wanted guts to know that his rage would lead him to become a mirror image of skull knight… the big lesson killing evil can make you in part evil
I believe his assistants are trying to figure out how to move forward. This could take a couple years. Business stuff. I would not completely write off Berserk but it's definitely on the backburner of the backburners.
as much as I want that to happen, it's not going to be the same story. I know the notes are probably with Studio GaGa, but I'd rather Berserk be left alone as a case of "what could have been" and admire its beauty from afar.
As much as I want it to continue in some capacity, even though I know it wont be 100% what was originally intended, at the VERY least everyone deserves to see Miura's notes, character sheets, and concept illustrations, so that we as longtime readers could possibly catch a glimpse of what an original ending might have been
@@THEMANGALOG Honestly the worst that would happen is it’s not good and everyone can just treat it like new Star Wars letting Berserk just fade away just feels wrong
Unfinished story’s are not masterpiece yet. Conclusion is important. Taking the pussy way out and leaving stones unturned is the authors way of saying. Hey I don’t know how to end it Without ruining it like himym
I haven't given up hope. I truly believe Berserk will continue, even if it's not gonna be the same. I believe Miura's disciples have incredible ways to resolve the plot points up their sleeves. When Miura died (May he rest in peace) they immediately canceled his more recent manga Duranki, but not Berserk. So by the looks of things, I think they are still planning on how to not just approach the situation, but to also find out how the story can continue, so as not to disappoint the fans if hope truly exists for this series. Remember, so long as it hasn't been confirmed cancelled, the story, nor the manga is truly over. #MayBerserkLiveOn
Great video. For some reason, even though Miura beats you over the head with the fact Skull Knight is King Gaiseric, I never connected it was the Godhand that destroyed his kingdom. Probably a sign of what was going to happen to Griffith.
I always have this idea that King Gaiseric's empire is based on Babylon who also tried to create a world empire. Also, the fact that a "tower" existed on both. Nonetheless, the anime is 1000000/10 and provides a lot of symbolism (e.g. Holy See = Roman Catholic Church) that really made it one of the best if not the best anime
Ok, all this goes through one ear and out the other cause I'm looking at the pictures you show, realizing I don't remember half of this stuff or half of these characters...
Well thank god it continues, and we may get to see how this all turns out. The chapters are coming out very slowly, but it's understandable, as they try to revision and recreate the story that was suppose to continue. Even if I have to wait 20 years for the end, It will all be worth the time, hopefully.
I think I remember somewhere Miura said berserk was 65-70% done and after the last chapter I felt it was about to kick off into the next big thing but I hope we hear something next month for the 1 year
i wouldn't be against someone taking up berserk that was a close colleague to Kentaro. A dream to live on, but something to complete his legacy, to say his works are finished i feel is saddening but could be left on a baton to a great friend... Sadly it won't be the same without him, maybe the care the excellence would be changed, but to leave his piece unfinished is a hard stop to me. I know art is left up to those who want its interpretation of it, but i really truly feel Kentaro wanted his work to have a final end to it because of how much care and delicacy he took to do said work. I really do wish it gets the ending it deserves or one we can all truly be happy with. Berserk is one of my favorites and will always be a favorite even if there is no end to it. Here's to you Kentaro Miura, Your work will always be great and i hope that if anyone does pick up where you left off they keep your legacy and dream alive like as if you were still alive. Rest in peace...
Hanarr the dwarf: You're its owner now only...thats you've use it, doesnt mean ur master it.. One knock from hanarr & the berserker armor instantly went to berserk mode...
I think the planned end would require Guts and Griffith to sacrifice themselves to keep the cycle from continuing and save those left that follow them. This premature ending we get in Elfhelm is a well-earned peace in a chaotic world that I can enjoy
Disagree. Guts and Skull Knight kill Griffith and the God Hand thus ending the cycle. Griffith doesn't want to end the cycle. Griffith is selfish and he only knows a selfish possessive love of people. He says it outright to Guts. "You belong to me." He collected people and he does it again when he is reborn he only sees his people as things.
@@ComicAcolyte Skull Knight and Guts don´t have what it takes at all to even kill one God Hand member. And the manga is already too far to get a believable powerup for them to close the gap. I am 100% sure this wasn´t the ending Miura went for. This is no stupid Shonen deus ex machina bs. He planned something else.
Gaiseric have not killed the previous Godhand, there is a new one that rises every 216 years, the oldest one is bumped out. Void is the eldest current member of the hand. The memories of the branding festival we see from the armor's memory are of the sage ascending to be Void and sacrifying Gaiseric's kingdom. All that is pretty clear. What is not is, was Gaiseric branded? If the sage hated him, why would he be accepted as a sacrifice?
It’s implied he and/ or The Elemental Kings(possibly summoned by Flora’s magic; potentially why she was shunned from Elfheim) killed the 4 previous members (Void being the 5th), who were more beings - reflective of the natural world; Water/ Frost, Wood/ Earth, Fire/ Ash & Flora(not the witch) and then Void as the final one). These other 4 beings weren’t necessarily powerful, were manipulated by Void to be killed in that encounter when SK lost his humanity to the Berserker Armour, and were later replace by the GH members who Void had a hand in hand-picking.
@@ausgamecollector Why or how did you get to that conclusion? Would you mind developing a bit please? I never read anything about that. This being said, to me it seems incredibly improbable as the Skullknight only recently created the blade of dissonance. More on that, how do you kill a concept with a blade? It's like saying Gutts killed Slan in the Qlhipphoth. Thing I understand is, there is a new one every 216 years, and there are 5 spots in the Godhand.
You know this series is doomed when one of the biggest mysteries regarding the most mysterious character of the manga EVER is about to be revealed, only for the author to switch to showing some monkey business involving Isidro. It is beyond frustrating, and it hurts even more when Miura dies just a few months later. We really got shafted on both accounts, but the SK stuff really leaves a bad taste in the mouth, there's no way to justify wasting half a chapter on Isidro's antics. Maybe the taboo that Flora has committed has something to do with bringing Gaiseric and the priestess to life as Dannan, but it does seem like Dannan is as old or older than both, so I still think she is the priestesse's mother, if anything. Also if no one noticed before, but the female figure on the armor of SK's horse strongly ressembles the priestess. What I can't wrap my head around is how Gaiseric is supposed to have been hunting down heretics, but he was in fact in love with what can only be a witch or someone who would be deemed a heretic. Maybe the Holy See/ God hand distorted that as well. Or the fact he knew about Guts' birth, that he's born from a corpse. So many mysteries and we'll prolly never know for sure why SK knows so much, or even what he is.
Eh... I think you mixed things up on your own. There is no "heretical remarks" in Gaiseric era for magic users like witches & wizards. Magic is as natural as breathing itself back then & normal people can see elves or astral creatures just fine. Only when "Holy See" religion suddenly appeared (after Gaiseric dynasty fall) that heretics exist where magic stuffs being banned & people with magic being persecuted. Gaiseric arrived at Elfheim simply because he was a conqueror on a voyage to a distant foreign land. Also, I would argue Holy See Religion was made by Void (god hand) aka The Sage to prepare the age of darkness after his eclipse. So many evidences of this theory in the manga.
Here's an ending: He realizes that he has everything he needs with him at this moment, and griffith showing up reiterates it. He stays with casca and his friends until the end of time.
I started watching Fist Of The North Star since I found out Miura was inspired by it. Maybe he was inspired by that story's ending too and wanted Berserk to conclude in a similar way? 🤔
read Devil Man. the art is a bit out dated for modern readers, but it has more heavier influence than First of the North Star, especially the ending and how demons occur and the main character alternating between being a blood thirsty demon and a decent human being, and the "best friend"(spoiler territory there) being a "best friend" and lastly, the Eclipse which in DevilMan equates to all human beings losing their shit, murdering everyone around them and parading their body parts around a fire like pagan worshippers. Guts = Akira Fudo, Ryo = Griffith, Casca = Miki Makimura I do not think Guts will beat Griffith. It's too cliched and also it's not like Guts can just summon Griffith for a final battle unless he sacrifices his humanity and everyone around him for one last battle which sounds stupid for a character with so much growth. Either Guts prepares for the inevitable darkness that will descend upon the world with his team mates or Guts will get a chance to fight Griffith and instead just walk away, denying Griffith that last shred of honor he was suppose to reclaim. Basically being a counter "FUCK YOU" to what Griffith did to Guts during Golden Age's Eclipse and as the window closes between the living and the dead, Griffith screams in horror as he remains in eternal damnation. To me, this possible ending makes more sense, despite probably disappointing a lot of fans who want a cliched final battle, because these demons/apostles crave the evil within human beings, as shown by how powerful the sacrificial mark gets with each kill a person commits, but by not appealing to their wants and needs, and by shifting your unchangeable destiny to not act, you deny evil its purpose and power. Also isn't Griffith missing 2 more sacrifices to complete his behelit ritual since he sacrificed ALL of the Band of the Hawk but 2 escaped? that should be an important plot point.
@@thomaslao9832 👊 I appreciate the insight man, I didn't realize how much influence Devil Man had on Miura. The plot sounds undeniably similar I might just have to put Fist of the North Star on hold on that note.
History can't not change and future is already set in motion, the World is forever changed. Never to return back to what was, only to remain as it is. Causality is the defining thing in this story and the only notion is to move forward on the path ahead cause there is no turning back the effects of causality This is not a repeat of History for Skull Knight to correct or to guide guts through but aid him in the effects of causality to give hope where it seems there is none and lets not forget he does not train a hero but a man struggling against fate. Skull Knight is a man that Failed at every chance he had against causality thus he in the forgotten ghostly state he is in now. A weakened soul desperately trying to correct a lifetime of mistakes. His Journey left him with nothing and his only pursuit is the god hand and thats the only similarity that him and guts have is the pursuit of the god hand. Hes no teacher and guts is no hero, only a man struggling against the fate that has been set upon him. You can not give Skull knight the role of mentor but more so a curious spectator to see where this man similar fate may end up going. Literally in the conviction arc he saves luca in a similar fashion would you state that he is a mentor of her to? Also agreed Guts was reborn into a different person in the defining moment of said conviction arc but lets not forget in lost children arc he let the beast out, he caved into darkness. Dove head first into whirlpool of hatred for the god hand. His love for casca was the defining thing that he tempered his anger to change his course to protect the only thing he values more then revenge on griffith. Skull knight did not impart this knowledge or wisdom to guts in any shape or form but only to purpose more questions then answers to only give a slight advantage in the time to come. Gut was always the only one to determine his own actions. Causality is literally the defining story trait of the entire story and thats whats so beautiful about it.. through the gruesome and awful horrific events... those that willing to accept what is, are willing to tread through what always will be from there on out.

Amen! :)
Yeah, Guts' story is great but there is also the other side of the coin. The story about dream and conviction to achieve it, the story of the other common child but with a clear goal in his mind, the story of a man who rewrite the 1000years history of a nation, the bigger story, the tale of Griffith the white hawk.
Poignant
Skull Knight taking that pot-shot at Void when he was grabbing Guts and Casca was awesome
Zodd is a chimera of sorts with the head of a Lion
- They both have an endless thirst for battle and bloodshed
I willing to bet that Zodd is Gaiseric's beast of darkness and as he lost his humanity, it got separated from him.
Skull Knight constantly clashes with Zodd throughout the story but never kills him eventhough he easily could.
(Afterall he's on even footing with the Godhand who could easily defeat Zodd)
I think it's because he's holding back because he isn't sure of the consequences of killing his physical body.
Just a lil theory
More easily a frenemy, like the relation between Gatsu and Grifis... unless his true frenemy is Void (but it's implied that Void was present in the former GodHand incarnation, so maybe not)... 🤔
...Miura, why you had to go at this point of the story? 😢
Saw the video on that by Tranquil Dionysian, he breaks it down well
SK calls him “Old friend”…….
I'm pretty sure his berserker armor wouldn't be a skull if his beast of darkness wasn't either
What a fantastic final set of chapters from Miura… giving us Casca back, Skull Knight lore, and that phenomenal cliffhanger ending. Which seems to be the official ended…
R.I.P Kentaro Miura.
sad that there was no full ending and his assistants didnt get to finish it. but i certainly enjoyed the journey and Kentaro Miura left us a masterpiece that will be passed down and live on.
He must of had a conversation how he wanted to end it... had to
Done bet on it. Because of his legacy no assistant will dare touch it.
Who would want to be known as the man who ruined Berserk?
Do you think Griffith has a plan other than the kingdom Stuff
HOWEVER
Demons do show emotion so idk if this is an inconsistency. We saw this with the slug count, we saw the fear in the snake apostle.
So maybe not all humanity is lost unless godhands are really a different tier in terms of emotion. In that case, Griffith is really having an oh shit moment.
It's confusing, but that's the beauty of it
@@seeker_rodan3113 spoilers for moonlight child
moonlight child is the son of guts and casca that was corrupted when Griffith r*ped casca
That was amazing, thank you so much! This channel truly is a gem!
This is now canon for me. You, my friend, make absolute sense!
Wow. I’ve read berserk twice but this is absolutely amazing
OOOOOOOOOOHHHHHH! I GET TO SEE IF MY PREDICTION WAS RIGHT. SO PUMPED!!! Also I think Morda will replace Farnese on the team
The best, most well rounded explanation of Berserk's trajectory and real ending with miura passing away. Thank you.
Berserk had much more to offer despite giving us so much already.
Guys, great news :D we might get some more!
Anyone else played Elden Ring and thought that Radahn's armor looked like King Gaiseric? Pretty cool imo
His helmet reminded me of Grunbelds personally, but I agree with the armor set as a whole looking like Gaiserics
elden ring is a berserk fanfic
He is zod and gaiseric combined in a way.
No bro it looks identical to gurunbelds armor
Radahn kinda reminded me of Raoh from Fist of the North Star
I love how this is uploaded at my favorite holiday April Fools, for my favorite character
Thank you for this great video. I just still can’t believe Miura is gone.
Loved your analysis, dude. Nice info on Zelda. Did not know that.
Fate really is cruel in berserk the skull night suffered and lost his love and his body in the eclispe and 1000 of years latter his descendant gets forced on by a future god hand just a awful turn of events a final spit in the eye.
Another difference in their experience is that casca survived, solely because guts was a “fish that broke the surface” and said fuck you to fate.
This video drew me in from the start to finish. This was amazing work. I was genuinely surprised that you don't have much more subscribers.
What a great job 👏🏻 made me look at how it ended differently, and I don’t hat it👌🏻
Very well put together video explains a lot of plot points especially with how confusing the end chapters are. Thanks for the video :)

Thank you miura kentaro your legacy will live on you inspire many readers, game developer and other artist 😭
Skullknight is precisely how to implement a ""Gandalf"" character that still has personal and very human driven investments in an outcome. Even if a lot of it can be boiled down to revenge.
I wish I could forget berserk so I binge read it again, so sad he passed.
U unlocked so meny memories it's too much man 😔
It’s interesting how Berserk defines Skull Knight and Guts’ fates as intertwined.
I think it's just a hollow armor haunted by the soul of the king.

I hope it does continue as well
As much as I want it to continue in some capacity, even though I know it wont be 100% what was originally intended, at the VERY least everyone deserves to see Miura's notes, character sheets, and concept illustrations, so that we as longtime readers could possibly catch a glimpse of what an original ending might have been
@@THEMANGALOG Honestly the worst that would happen is it’s not good and everyone can just treat it like new Star Wars letting Berserk just fade away just feels wrong

Berserk enjoyer: i want this masterpiece to be as is.

#MayBerserkLiveOn

god damn it dude...why hit me square in the feels?
I hope his assistants just print a separate book out that tells the world what he was planning and how he wanted it to go.
Beautiful video and also so bittersweet
Even if I have to wait 20 years for the end, It will all be worth the time, hopefully.
this vid goes so hard

I have faith that the story will continue.
@@ComicAcolyte If Guts does not learn forgiveness and Griffith does not give up on ambition the cycle continues no matter how big the sword

@Knee Ger He never showed a feat to imply him being able to defeat or even touch one.
Flora before she dies says something like "history is not a circle but a spiral" that for me clarify a lot about berserk despite its complexity
Where did you get this 216y bit? What chapter?

It's like saying Gutts killed Slan in the Qlhipphoth.
Thing I understand is, there is a new one every 216 years, and there are 5 spots in the Godhand.
I think the sage was Void and that was the day Void became a member of the god hand. It would explain the hate Skull knight has for void

FUCK YEAH FOR THE TWILIGHT PRINCESS OPENING
It's really sad remembering that we will never get to see the end of Gut's journey
Here's an ending: He realizes that he has everything he needs with him at this moment, and griffith showing up reiterates it. He stays with casca and his friends until the end of time.
@@jonathanbusche8093 I guess I can live with that. No. I will live with that. It’s a good way to look at it. Thank you.
Loved this one. Keep it up
Griffith gets his empire. Guts gets his band.
Guts = Akira Fudo,
Ryo = Griffith,
Casca = Miki Makimura
I do not think Guts will beat Griffith. It's too cliched and also it's not like Guts can just summon Griffith for a final battle unless he sacrifices his humanity and everyone around him for one last battle which sounds stupid for a character with so much growth.
Either Guts prepares for the inevitable darkness that will descend upon the world with his team mates
or Guts will get a chance to fight Griffith and instead just walk away, denying Griffith that last shred of honor he was suppose to reclaim.
Great video! Subbed.
Another thing Guts has that Skull Knight did not is Casca. A reason to live other than revenge.
my hope is that he made a Bible of berserk explaining everything
History can't not change and future is already set in motion, the World is forever changed. Never to return back to what was, only to remain as it is. Causality is the defining thing in this story and the only notion is to move forward on the path ahead cause there is no turning back the effects of causality
This is not a repeat of History for Skull Knight to correct or to guide guts through but aid him in the effects of causality to give hope where it seems there is none and lets not forget he does not train a hero but a man struggling against fate.
Man i missed this manga
having not read the manga, my first impression of skull knight was that he was a future/ cyclic version of guts
I've never met the man called Kentaro Miura, yet unlike others that have passed, I mourned this loss. Perhaps not as much as others that have had a more vested interest in the series. But my love for the series was real.
I wept for a week straight and I have to stop myself from getting emotional any time I dwell on this. As a “Struggler” my way is not over, Rest In Peace my savior, I will continue this fight until I turn to dust
Man it would‘ve been so cool if every godhand member had their own arch nemesis. Just like void and Skull/ femto guts.
They were probably sacrificed
