Chris Thile (pronounced Till-ay) was also a young prodigy on mandolin and was awarded the $800,000 MacArthur Genius Grant prize in 2012. He's played folk in the group Nickel Creek, or classical with Yoyo Ma in The Goat Rodeo sessions and when I saw him at the Kennedy center this year did a 45 minute piece he wrote for orchestra for the Extroverted Mandolinist. It recounts his time at a record company party and meeting Carrie Fisher and is quite funny. He can play Bach as easily as he can folk or jazz and did some improvised club sessions with Jacob Collier at the Blue Note.
Madison Cunningham, is also pretty good and tunes her guitar uniquely lower and more like a cello to give it more oomph.
This song was recorded with orchestration on DJesse Vol 4.
Yes, almost anyone that JC has collaborated is worth listening to in their own right. You might try Lawrence the band or Daniel Cesar or Mahalia.
    Have you heard fellow-Brit Raye?

@@bryanleggo3489 Thanks as usual Bryan for all the info and insight. I love learning more about artists and you are making it much easier for me to do so with your comments. Thanks also for letting me know the correct pronunciation, lol. Yes, I've heard Raye. I have mixed emotions as I think she has a wonderful voice and some excellent live performances but I'm not keen on some of her commercial music.
