- Pianist, arranger, and composer Bob Zurke wrote “Eye Opener” in 1939. Zurke played with Bob Crosby’s band before starting his own group called the Delta Rhythm Band. He wrote swinging band arrangements as well as some hot piano solos like “Hobson Street Blues.” “Eye Opener” was a staple of pianist Ralph Sutton’s repertoire and is a perfect vehicle for the stride piano idiom.

Thank you so much for watching! ✨
Loved Stephanie's solo portion.
C'est toujours un plaisir d'entendre du stride et la main gauche de Stéphanie
Талантливые и большие молодцы❤
Получаю море удовольствия от исполнения ❤
WONDERFUL...
That tune was new to me. A real toe-tapper.
Excellente partie stride de Stephanie !
Super!!
Great!
Unbeatable Duo!
Running out of superlatives for you two. Just grateful you use TH-cam to allow us mere mortals to witness your greatness.
One of your best duos ... and you have set the standard quite high! And your solo parts made me imagine that Fats Waller and Earl Hines were playing together, because Palo gave us the same "vertigo feeling" that Father Hines conveyed in many of his records , and because, well, Stephanie is the current Queen of Stride Piano. Thank you, both of you!
WONDEFULLY. You are a Dreamteam. Love you.
Beautiful Thanks!!
Perfect, you are fabulous
Delightful. Charming. Brilliant.
Wooowww.. fantastic..!!
Like always entertaining and magical.❤
Romping, stomping, sizzling & scintillating..... in that order !
כל הכבוד ❤
Very elegant as allways♥️
Getting even better!
Thank you Stephanie and Paolo for introducing songs we hadn’t heard before… I didn’t know of Bob Zurke, or that he died so young. As always you make a challenging tune sound so much better than the original (to me) with your brilliant timing and close harmony.😊
Great stuff again! Within just three minutes two duo sessions, in between which we get a stunning solo from each of you. Once again you show how you can both play as one and yet that you are individual pianists with different styles.
Very nice and different. There's another four-hands version on TH-cam using two pianos by Dick Hyman and John Sheridan from the album "Forgotten Dreams, Archives Of Novelty Piano (1920's-1930's)"
Magnifique solo stride de Stephanie! Digne de Ralph Sutton🙌
So crisp as always!
I have been a ragtime and stride fan of yours for years and this is an incredible example of that part of your never ending amazing repertoire. You are both special. .
Entertaining . . . thank you both for a fun tune. Wow!!
The BEST duo piano team ever! Impossibile non amarvi, Stephanie and Paolo, thank you for all this Beautiful Music!
Great job as always. Love the individual solos. You both look like you’re having such a wonderful time. I’m sure it takes hours of practice to get it, so where we your public, can enjoy these performances. Thank you!
What a firework of rhythm and brilliance! Especially the counter-beat passages are an incomparable pleasure - many thanks for that!
This really was an eye (and ear) opener for me. Never heard it before--imagine that! Loved it!
Wow, now that's what I call a fantastic eye opener!!! May I say it just one more time; you two are fantastic!!!🤩 Lots of love from Gene in Tennessee.
Beautiful playing in various styles and great vibe, bravo ✨🙂
Extra!: And I love the 2 solo, great idea!! 😃
Repertoire idea - maybe some Robin Frost? The stuff he wrote for piano roll might be human-playable with 4 hands...
I'd never heard that before so it was a true Eyeopener for me! It was breath taking as ever.
Can anybody tell me what the three things that look like audio jacks are under the right hand side of the keyboard?
Thanks,
A human piano roll. 😮
On croirait entendre dick wellstood et teddy Wilson
Je voulais parler de Ralph sutton pour sa version de eye-opener
