- Welcome back to Stick to Football, brought to you by SkyBet, and today our full-fit squad of Gary Neville, Jamie Carragher, Jill Scott, Roy Keane and Ian Wright are joined by Premier League legend Rio Ferdinand.
Ahead of Manchester United v Liverpool on Sunday, the former Red Devils defender and club team-mates of Gary and Roy joins the show to talk about the rivalry and importance of the fixture, as well as current on-field issues at Old Trafford.
Rio also recalls his special time at the club which seen him win 6 Premier League titles and a Champions League, including his breakthrough, national career, relationships with players past and present as well what life at Manchester United was like with Sir Alex Ferguson and after his retirement.
The team also talk about why they went in to punditry, giving unique insight into the industry and the changing world and influence of social media within the game.

@@rb2718 Gary Neville interviewed AF for a TH-cam video in the past, it's not completely out of the question unless his hatred towards Keane runs deeper than we think - but then he did start talking to the BBC after 10 years so we never know.

Rio’s reasons for not going into management are admirable, knowing that he needed to be there for his kids at such a difficult time. One of the best defenders we’ve ever produced. Great guest and great show.

I've lived in Spain for over 20 years now, and I've played plenty of footy over here. The Rio anecdote about Busquets saying they played "boom, boom, boom" and his hand gestures, he's actually referring to them as being very physical with their challenges and banging into them instead of intercepting the ball cleanly.

I find the conversation on the england team dynamics so fascinating in how each time they revisit England they seem to reveal more about the interpersonal dynamics and the psychology that SAF drilled into Man United players. Wrighty's comment about them just seeming like these fascinating winning machines or drones, and Gary's about how they always seemed exclusive due to how their standards were so sharp regarding being first and being early, and being bonded as brothers, just fascinating

If he was an okay player it wouldn’t be a problem for me. What’s incredibly frustrating is that there’s a top player in there that just disappears and appears as he chooses fit.
Still overrating him saying his the level behind the likes of a Salah. It's not the level below it's about 3 levels, not even in the same stratosphere of these elite world class level players.

@@brettpearce8843Last season both Salah and Rashford scored 30 goals.. Rashford had 6 more appearances, but that still shows levels are not all that different when Rashford is on it. I would agree he doesn't deserve it if there is such bad consistency but the reason some mention these things is he's shown he can be at times. Rashford is also 5 years younger.
The best thing on TH-cam! Not just soccer, not just sport; the best show! Get entertaining, knowledgeable and interested people together and allow Gary Neville to ringmaster it. The ability and acumen of Gary Neville, as well as his willingness to allow others to be more knowledgeable and take the lead when it is warranted, along with his lack of ego when they needle him and his self deprecation is incredible. Could write all night about this panel and the ‘chemistry’ but I need to listen!
The insights into David Moyes is essential viewing for anyone following Klopp at Liverpool - absolutely fascinating. This podcast is gold.

Always liked Rio. He was under a lot of pressure not just when he joined United, but when he went to Leeds too. He was a British transfer record when he went there and I remember seeing his debut live at Filbert Street. He had a rocky start and Leicester won convincingly 3 - 1, but faced the challenge and became a better player for it.
