Double Thunder Dragon on the field backed up by Cannon Soldier, opponent surrenders. That is such a surreal visual. Also, holy crap the amount of drawn Droll & Lock Birds is nuts.
Did I miss game 1, why surrender? You had 7000 lp with 4 pieces in hand. Probably could have lived another 2-3 turns based on field and hand, at least. Very possible to draw pot of greed or charity and win the game. Was I wrong?
Can you please stop surrendering so early? In this matchup specifically, spellbooks weren't killing anytime soon. There was a chance of drawing the exodia pieces. Also it is more fun to watch the decks fight it out to the end.
Game 1 was already lethal with just the known cards, for example: Turn 4: Fate, banish fate in GY + 2, banish any normal summon/set (G1 being pre-side means there's no opportunity to bluff mirror force) Turn 5: Standby, use field spell to shuffle back eternity MP1, activate both star halls Secrets add blue boy Normal blue boy add eternity Eternity add master from banished Master copy eternity, add fate from banished Fate, banish 2, book a blue boy from turn 1 Flip blue boy, add power Activate power, activate wisdom 7 counters on first star hall, 6 on second 200+3*500+1000+4*1300 = 7900 Game 2 is similar, except the set fate on turn 2 is unknown
There was no reason to surrender that early especially in game one. Spellbooks didnt had enough damage to finish duel and drawing in pot of greed or graceful charity discarding sangan or witch turn later or drawing required missing pieces could have that game end in completely different way. Situation wasnt good for exodia but it had chance if fight continued on. It wasnt completely out of game yet.
I knew Droll would be huge for Exodia but Jowgen aswell? Damn that was hard. Canon Soldier could beat over it but other than that, especially with SB backrow? Too much I guess At least Exodia is not out yet
The reactions to that game 1 show how few people have actually duelled against Spellbooks. If people think Exodia had 3+ more turns against a 6-card Spellbook hand with full board setup they're actually insane omg please play the game 😭
Stars halls generally make the blue boys bigger but that takes time you know xd. Kycoo is the bigger monster and he gets to 4k attack sometimes with star hall but that's not guaranteed and also for setup you probably prefer the 3rd blue boy for setup instead of normal kycoo in that scenario. So seeing 3 pieces in hand and probably between the 3 potential blue boys spellbook could have put 4k or 5k damage, while exodia had 7k lp, and one top deck pot of greed or graceful charity could have been really big. I'm telling you this because I played this match and specially I've played spellboks a lot over the past decade. So yeah, there was one or two more turns, not 3+ turns as some commenters said but still relevant considering how exodia works. Anyway, don't misunderstand me, I'm glad with the result xd but we have to be honest with real possibilities.
When i saw this i overlooked how good Jowgen is against a deck from BEFORE the milenium. Like he has no right being this good except for the part where this was an era pre where anyone cared what card effects can and can't do
the early stoppages weree AWFUL this game. They have been bad for sometime, but here? G1 there was a big chance to sack, and in other games, you still had 2-3 turn clocks, play it out. One of the worst episodes this year so far.
I believe you got the last will ruling wrong at 3:25. You only summon 1 monster each time a monster is sent to GY rather than having unlimited summons once Last Will triggers, so Cannon + Last Will by itself isn’t FTK. It wouldn’t have mattered here since Reborn or Graceful to trigger Last Will get you to Cannon + a body which is FTK, but something to keep in mind in the future.
@@bunnyhound824the original errata tho said something like "substitute a dead monster with another from the deck" so iirc actually its like azgana said, it triggers everytime a monster goes to gy. not 100% sure but worth double checking
@@bunnyhound824 As Hclody said I'm not saying you can't use it multiple times a turn, but as far as I'm aware it was ruled at the time that you summon 1 per monster sent to GY.
last will summons a monster everytime a monster goes to gy, for the ftk you need cannon+will+ANOTHER MONSTER, only cannon + will is not enough. last will was broken but not broken as in this video
*See, I told you!* OG Exodia is an amazing deck and I dare to say better than Chaos, BUT Spellbook is quite good at just negating searches, drawing and the special summon of last will this deck relies on. Was close but Exodia just lacks ways to interrupt the opponent's plays outside judgment to out a Joden.
Does it make sense to play matches with an even number rof duels to eliminate the luck of the dice roll? Wins would be more decisive like 4-2 or 3-1. Maybe it wouldn't work but just a thought.
@@nbonasoro but even numbers don't have a clear majority 😂😂😂 that's why I'm telling you this. The number of games must be the same in every match, so if you play best of six for example you have the chance to go 3-3, not the same as best of 5, where you will always a winner at least 3-2. But whatever, believe what you want.
@@sejotejerina3732 The number of games do not need to be the same every match. The number of games will be a minimum of 5 and continue until the score has 1 deck up by 2 games. Not hard
@nbonasoro lol you're trying to make something similar to tie breaks on the tenis volley matchups? That would be awful, not knowing the amount of games in every match, how far would they go? Specially in really close games for the bottom bracket. Dude, you're not helping, sorry to tell you this.
anti-special summon effects being good against even a deck from the literal first year of Yu-Gi-Oh makes me evem more adamant we don't need those kinds of effects legal in the modern game

If you struggle against the old school decks then your deck is not gonna be the best deck ever. Jokes aside... I feel like you should not scoop against spellbook until your lp reach zero, u know, spellbook takes forever to inflict damage and you know, the top decks are a thing. Other than that, I played this match with friends and spellbooks took it by 2-1 (we are too lazy for best of 5 xd) that's why I saw this coming. Oh man, this year has to be for spellboks, as the previous champion was dragon rulers, for 2013 supremacy!!! D:
@thenightstalker6165 dragon rulers won the previous cross banlist cup 😂😂😂. But ok whatever, you just like to troll people and get attention. I think we all know who you are by now 😂😂😂. OCG was horrendously broken, between Sangan and witch working when milled or discarded, last will lacking a once per turn and working like sangan and witch, and having 3 pots and charities, the deck is just absurd, over a decade ahead of its time and at the level of 2013 decks like Spellbooks or Mermails.

That's the fun in an Exodia deck! Why on earth surrender when there's a chance?
