I saw this comment on Twitter and it’s perfect. Klay Thompson is the Michael Jordan of Tim hardaways. He would fit perfectly in Dallas.
Klay Thompson will get REALLY OVERPAID shortly so forget that crap.
If they lose DJJ we will be able to replace him. Let’s not make him into an all defensive team guy. I like him and I think they get him back for something reasonable. We love him more than most teams. On ball defenders with size are rare but gettable. We lost Brunson then two years later we were in the finals. KP didn’t work out then we went to the conference finals. Grimes actually might be the answer. We will know in only four months.
I honestly think OMax will be a better version of DJJ. Go get Klay Thompson if he wants to be here and the cost isn't absurd
I would really love to see the "moneyball minute" format come back and hear kirk ramble for 10 minutes every now and then
THJ is a regular season player Olay Thompson to they don’t show up in playoffs when it matters!
Thanks for the show. Entertaining as always. Great birthday gift. :) I am very appreciative of THJ to do everything he could to be the best player, team mate, member of the community he could be in Dallas. He deserves credit for keeping the Mavs together as a TEAM by being a pro when the coaching change happened, the front office was in turmoil, when they did not reach the playoffs and many more times. I see a lot of similarities with Dwight. Both "tax" for what was supposed to be the bigger fish, but turned out to be essential. They embody the next-men-up mentality and did so for years without moaning. So - thank you ever so much THJ! ❤🎉 - that being said, welcome Quinton! I hope he will fit in the culture of the team and help shape it positively. Now with a once in generation doc in Casey Smith gone and the loss of the impact of Dennis Lindsey still needs to be measured, I am a bit nervous. Since deals are in the works for a longer time, supposedly, than what the public sees with a tweet, I believe Quinton is very much a deal done by Dennis, including the additional 3 2nd. On another note, will Markieff come back or will O-Max emerge on his spot as 3rd guy on the 4? Markieff appears to be another glue guy and Kyrie and he appear to be close.
I’m worried that the Klay talk is an indication that DJJ is leaving…he signed with Klutch and they’re likely to demand every last cent…teams with cap space might offer him a Bruce Brown 1 + 1 sort of deal of $20m+ 😦
Good then let him walk because there are a bunch of guys who can do what DJJ did for the Mavs. I’ll give you 2 examples of guys who are younger and 1 has way way more potential. The 2 guys are Patrick Williams and Naji Marshall.

I can’t get on the rose-colored glasses THJ journey. I never liked the extension (just to whiff on Brunson), and when he sat, we went the furthest in the playoffs (now twice).
Please no on Klay Thompson. He's mostly washed...maybe on a vet minimum. 0-10 and the Warriors were better without him. If they lose Derrick Jones Jr they need another lockdown defender.... without that role filled this Mavs team is a play-in team. The Warriors are an intelligent organization. If they aren't willing to spend big money on Klay they know kore than anyone else why he's not good enough.
You can't have Luka and Kyrie in the frontcourt without a guy like Derrick Jones Jr to cover their defense limited rears.
So glad Hardaway Jr era is done... but still feel like the Mavs need to get better and I don't know how they can do that.
They've gotten lucky with making in-season upgrades...but I don't know if that's always the way to go.
Also, while Nico has made some good moves recently...I think the jury is still out a little bit whether this was just a situation where someone at the poker table won a few hands in a row or is actually a genius Danny Ainge/Sam Presti type.
I'm hoping Nico is that good, but I'm bracing myself for a boneheaded Klay Thompson mid-level exception deal after losing DJ Jr and seeing the Mavs revert back to a play-in team without that lockdown defender hiding Luka an Kyrie's deficiencies.
It's like the 1995 Rockets who traded away Sam Cassell and other pieces of their championship team for an over the hill Charles Barkley (a big name but without the game or defense, old and washed)
The Jalen Brunson debacle and Grant Williams debacle are also in pretty recent history.
I'm hoping Nico is an Ainge/Presti level genius though and I'm wrong.
About Klay, not sure what position he would play. Kyrie is a lock to start. Will Klay slide to the 3? Matchup depending? Luka/Klay would work to give Kyrie a breather. If Quinton works, Jaden still develops, maybe Josh making another step, Dante getting even more familiar and comfortable, there would be a logjam at the 2. Does that mean AJ, with his multi year deal is out?
Such a bad take about Klay, you won’t find 38% on 9 attempts anywhere if you aren’t Luka or Steph, his shooting and shooting gravity is insane. The mavs lost in the finals because Boston aggressively shrunk the floor and DJJ, PJ, Green, Maxi nobody could hit a three.
What a shocker another Mavs fan who brings up 1 single game of Klay if that’s what we are doing then Kyrie is washed because he was fucking atrocious the entire Finals. DJJ is not as good as y’all Mavs fans want to believe. Patrick Williams & Naji Marshal can do what DJJ did and give you a shit ton more shooting & with Patrick Williams way way higher upside & both are younger.
Mavs can do a S&T plus still have the Full MLE to upgrade the roster which is exactly what they should be doing and if they don’t upgrade and just run the team back it will be an epic failure.
@@joesutherland9354 Nice try...it's not just 1 game...Klay got removed from the starting lineup for a reason. He played better off the bench but still career worse plus minus. He's not a starting caliber player in the NBA anymore. If the splash bros team say he's not good enough to start next to Curry, he sure as heck can't start anywhere else.
@@adamstewart247 So did Wiggins, Kuminga, Looney, CP3 the Warriors as a whole was a shit show last season ask any Warriors fan. Yes he did play better off the bench hence why he’d fit on the Mavs to be in that THJ role and the benefits outweigh the negatives. First an elite 3p shooter around Luka and Kyrie can play with both also allows Mavs to lower Luka and Kyrie’s minutes during the regular season as well which needs to be done. Also on the Mavs he won’t be asked to be the 2nd option or the POA defender the Warriors asked him to be he will be on the court with 2-3 defenders at all times so he doesn’t have to. With the Mavs roster on defense he can guard the slower wings and not have to guard the quick guards and he can play the 2 or 3. Also allows Kidd to rest both Luka and Kyrie at the same time for short periods if he wants and play Klay next to a Exum, Grimes, PJ and a Gafford/Livley also depends on who the Mavs use the Full MLE on.
Kirk is just sometimes extremely difficult to listen to when it comes to Green. He lacks all objectivity. “If you quote Josh being listed 6’7 on NBA website -”…Josh is listed as 6’5 lol, the exact same height as Grimes (who we just traded for), and Alex Caruso. He’s tall enough to play SF, as he has entire professional career thus far.
Did you just compare Josh Green to King Caruso?
6’5 is not tall enough to play SF, what world are you living in? 6’7 is the minimum when there are so many great wings and a lot of 6’9/6’10 monsters at SF

@@mouseinthehouse_ Alex Caruso is a wing…Yes, you can absolutely play SF as a 6’5 wing, what matters even more is wing span and Green’s is nearly 7’.
@@braveheartedlionCaruso is still a way better defender and screen navigator. So it’s an upgrade even if it’s not due to size.

He is 34,wants last ,kinda big,money and cant be a +defender anymore.

Mavs state media because he didn’t play on the Lakers and that’s in LA lol. Mavs state media when Kleber had one of the best Mav lineups +/- this last season.
