The substantial level is the normal level middle of the 5 levels and i would guess it can't go below substantial as an attack will always be likely and never been below substantial, the heightened level is also the middle of the 3 options and would also doubt it could go down to "normal" too many asses on the line in case something happens. Why they have to use such hyperbolic language for normal is any ones guess.

Videos like this are totally out of order, putting people on the spot who aren't trained to deal with the media and then uploading it to youtube. It's completely out of order to put emergency service workers on the spot like that considering all the crap they have to put up with anyway.

I work for a fairly large fire department and would never treat a member of the public like that. Even with COVID I would ask if they wanted to see the trucks they pay for but because of COVID I can’t let them get in the trucks right now so I just open the bay doors and let them look at them. As far as firefighters being hero’s that’s total crap, we all get paid to do a job just like other people with jobs and I doubt most firefighters would do the job if not paid. Those Mitsubishi light pumps are becoming popular with rural fire services. They are much cheaper and almost as well equipped as a standard rescue pump. They are usually allocated to the more remote retained (part time/volunteer) fire stations. Although they are not as durable as a standard pump they only have light usage and their smaller size makes them ideal for country lanes.
I would scrub him off the Christmas card list . One of the other auditors, cant remember who it was got tea and toast on an audit. Mark fucked up and he knew it.

Hes a nice guy. He used to tell me all about his experiences in the fire service and his interest in BMWs. Said he likes them as they survive crashes alot better than fords and Peugeot etc.
I think you forget this is during covid and these guys were already at risk as it was. As a coming through firefighter I’d absolutely let people in and give a tour now covid has lifted. However always knock on the door first and speak to someone

Julian is dabbling into a little bit of auditing I see, hope you know your all your rights on public photography and the laws surrounding it my friend, because auditing is not a walk in the park and you can really be tested by the public and police when you least expect it. I've seen many auditors, not just in the the UK but all around the world get verbally and physically attacked, detained and arrested by the police for just doing public photography. As regards to this video I thought you done pretty good but a little bit of inexperience did show. Fireman Mark was incorrect about most of the things he said, recording a firestation and firefighters is not illegal, just the same with filming a police station and police officers, only difference is you can't be detained and arrested by a firefighter, but they can still call the police on you. Mark's main issue was not that Julian was recording the station and the fire vehicles but with Mark himself, he made it perfectly clear that he didn't want to be filmed, he had every right to ask Julian if he could stop recording but he had no right by law to order him to delete the footage on his camera or phone. Julian had every right to be on the fireststion property, it's not private land but government owned, funded by public tax money, there were no restricted access signs posted anywhere or areas which Julian shouldn't of been. Mark needs to brush up on public photography rights and laws as he didn't have a clue and just made a lot of false statements. Accusing Julian of almost be engaged in terroristic activities for filming the firestation was insultive and shameful, especially considering Julian stated on the video that he used to work with the guy and also knew his partner.

One of the big key factors to auditing is showing you are confident and assertive when need to be, not one for being pushed around and dictated to, using your civil and public photography rights effectively and applying the correct law(s) with them. Many people in the UK are uneducated about their right to film and photograph in public and basic/general laws, auditing is more about educating the general public than anything else, but also incompaces/includes government/police corruption and tyranny as well. We have a civil and lawful duty as the free press to hold our government officials and employees accountable, to publish our documentaries, news reports/stories, video clips etc to the public for their interest. There is nothing written into British law/legislation, that in order to be a credited/official journalist or news reporter that you must be registered with a nationsl press association/organisation and have press ID. Anyone who takes out their camera/phone and starts filming a particular live event, then shares that on a social media platform or other which is intended for public interest, automatically becomes a member of the free press as you've disseminated a news story, documentary or information based video.

Once he saw it was me he was caught off guard between continuing with the confrontation that was already decided upon. Its interesting as he knew me and that im not a threat. I gave the explanation that im just videoing the fire station. I hold no malice obviously and I like him just the same as before. He's a good guy and was just doing his job but got caught off guard. It is what it is.
Heightened level of threats from terrorism, but the English Channel is not patrolled properly and patrol resources that exist are used in escorting services which could and should be avoided, as in nipped in the bud, if the French police and coastguard did their job and we did ours. And people are let in without documentation, no references, no background or activity checks. Quite stunning that no one can put people over profit (renting out hotels to newcomers, and providing services to them using taxpayer's money - which is a vast business and 'makes millionaires overnight').

Wandering around an operational fire station, what a plank. Did you not think that maybe the gates were open because they are in and out all the time, either going to jobs or doing community safety stuff etc? By all means go to the front door, buzz, and ask to have a look around, but you can't just go wandering around the yard ffs. Oh but there's visitors spaces. Yes for contractors, non uniformed staff, occ health, people there on courses etc, not for Joe Public to park in and just go for a wander. Yards have vehicle movement plans etc, routes that people walk so that they don't get ran over. I support auditors but wandering around an operational yard, taking ffs minds off their work is just plain stupid. Get a grip.

I support auditors but wandering around an operational yard, taking ffs minds off their work is just plain stupid. Get a grip.
They ought to make that clear with signs if its that important then. There are plenty of other signs.
