The riff at the end really has a strong resemblance to the ending of The Return Of The Giant Hogweed by Genesis, awesome to see the influence these guys had from one the greatest prog band of the 70ies!
It was actually called 'Margaret gets her oats' . I don't know if there is a version about. The only studio tape was recorded at The Enid's studio in Suffolk but I think this is it!
I am amazed - there are not many people about who had access to these songs. It is great to hear them again.

This is perhaps my favourite Marillion song. I played this till the tape wore out.

That was some journey in time! Wow! But i didn't recognize Fish...who was singing then?
Doug Irvine. Marillion's co-founder and the very first bassist and singer.

Dougy is also playing bass and Brian Jelliman is on keyboards.....good times!
They'd never have made it with that vocalist.

I think it's safe to say they needed Fish from both the lyrics and the vocals perspectives.

What happened to Doug?
are there any proper studio recordings under Doug Irvine's name?
No.
I’m assuming you’re talking about the quality of the sound, not the fact that there are other recordings ?
I really like Marillion, but this is too seventies for me.
