From what I can gather, the online missions (or at least Trevor's) take place 6 months before the actual story (I.e the trio meeting each other and Mike and Trevor reuniting) and Wade met Trevor one year before the main story so no, he didn't die, Trevor was probably talking about some other no-name subordinate.
