Just came across this and really enjoyed it, the hole series, thanks for taking the time to explain everything like you did.

Next year I'll be going to get my D2 that has been sitting for three years and I'll need to go through the steering brakes, so I thank you for these videos. While the D2 and D3 will be different there are certain techniques and methodologies that may well apply to my situation. I had adjusted the steering brakes until they wouldn't adjust any more. It was well used when I got it about 10 years ago, but before it laid down on me I was able to push out a 3.25 mile driveway, and clear and mostly level a few acres.

Definitely should have cleaned that cable with spirits of salts or something similar, that cable might be stuck in there but it sure as hell won’t be soldered in there very good !!!!

To adjust the brakes on a 1990 cat d3c be the same? I’m needing to adjust mine and they look a lot alike but on that plate that has the rods coming up below the seat on this dozer mine has the plates just like this on but not the rods sticking up only a 9/16 bolt head I had to remove my seat and base to find that. So would I turn the bolts the same? Reason asking is I can’t find anything on it on google. Thanks
