- Ahead of the NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series season-opening Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals at Gainesville Raceway, 16-time NHRA world champion John Force, who drives the PEAK Antifreeze and Coolant Chevrolet Camaro SS Funny Car, applied one more exclamation point to a career punctuated by superlatives Thursday when he was inducted into the International Drag Racing Hall of Fame as part of a 2023 class.
Founded in 1990 by “Big Daddy” Don Garlits and his late wife, Pat, and housed at the Don Garlits Museum of Drag Racing in nearby Ocala, the International Drag Racing Hall of Fame recognizes the most accomplished straight-line racers in the world with inductees from North America, Europe, Asia, and Australia.

Hey John, just once, I'd love to hear you put a shout out to the thousands of Canadian fans including me, that continue to support the NHRA series just because of you. I've been to the fall races 7 times to Vegas, I have your daughters autographs but never been able to capture yours. So you can't retire until I'm finnally able to get that signature from you. Your a legend to many of us Canadians too.......

THE GREATEST DRAG RACER OF ALL TIME
Armando Serna.... After "Big" (Garlits), you mean. lol I'm in no way putting JF "down" or anything... he is a great race driver, team owner, and "mouth piece" for the sport, for sure.. but if it weren't for Don, T/F (AA/FD back then) may not have even survived into the 1960's, and if he and TC (Tommy Lemons) hadn't of made the RED's run straight after his trans/clutch explosion at Lions, T/F would most likely would have been "finished" by the mid 1970's.... far too many were getting killed in the "slingshots" (FED's).
Garlits has probably forgotten more about fuel racing, engine building, chassis building & set-up, etc, etc, etc.... than half of today's racers all put together.. period. It was once said that "Big", Dale Armstrong, Austin Coil & Bill Jenkins knew & forgot more about all facets of the sport, than All the racers combined who ever lived and raced.... past, present & future.
All four of them were absolute mechanical geniuses in their own positions and sectors of the sport of drag racing. True Innovators of the sport who "built" the foundation for drag racing to become what it is today.
Enjoy 2023 and whatever racing you can... this will be the last year for any of it... If, it even makes it through the remainder of this year.

You must be a "newbie" to the sport (withing the last 20+/- years), if you think, that. The GREATEST... was there at the ceremonies, and John acknowledged him, multiple times during his typical "short" speech.
There will NEVER be another John Force. I also can listen to John talk all day long. !!

The greatest and most colorful personalities in drag racing win or lose ever. I met him at Indy to sign one of my diecast cars he was the nicest ever I was too shy and embarrassed to get him to sign my otherdiecast I have . I cherish the one car I got signed to this day. If he should retire or die I don't think I would follow drag racing as close as I do because the other drivers are ass holes that don't understand that the fans the main reason they are allowed to race along with at which fan driven . I don't care for Ron capps I met him at the same race and I would have knocked him out cold if we had been some where private. I had to tell him to shut up he was trying to chastise me for asking a small question. I still can't stand to watch him on tv. John force is the king of drag racing he's our Richard petty. May God bless him and his family...........
