Thank you, Dominique! I watched your video and got helpful tips. I applied for 12 positions yesterday for a Student Nurse Extern and received an email this morning for a phone interview. Wish me luck! Thank you, again!
I’m a nurse extern and where I live you can not do any of that like it’s only registered staff who can pass meds and start IV’s, however, it depends on the nurse and how confident you look!. I have got to pass meds, check blood sugars, start IV, hang medication in fact high alert medication on my own with no nurse there etc. It all depends they just tell you to not say anything. But yeah the hospital is an amazing experience trust me
@@DominiqueDooley secured the position, start at the end of the month. Thanks for informing me about the letter of recommendation. My interviewer said I was the only one who had one. Thanks Golden Bae
@@arthimohan6229 for my interview she asked a lot about my clinical experiences and skills that I feel like I could bring to the team. I would say what really helped me in the interview was that I had questions to ask her, so near the end of the interview it felt more like a conversation.
@@arthimohan6229 no problem, during that portion of the interview just mention it’s been online and talk about how it’s played a part in your learning and say that you would like this position to obtain the missing hands on portion of clinicals. It’s really just the way you word it.
Girl I just found you because I’m so nervous about my extern interview! Your voice and the way you explained this helped calm me so much and got me excited for this. Thank you!!!🤍🙌🏼
Sorry to be offtopic but does anyone know of a method to log back into an instagram account? I was dumb forgot my account password. I love any assistance you can give me
Cna Maryland $24.95. I work at one of the sister hospitals. Depending on hospital base and location pay before Covid $12-15 after about $17-19. If you have a year or more $17-20. Downside at my hospital nurse extern make less then cna. Extern wear cna uniform top color but nurse color pants.
See! Everywhere varies, that’s why I try to stay away from numbers because every state and facility is different but I know you guys want to know about pay.
I am so glad I found your TH-cam! You are one semester ahead of me, so everything you post comes right on time. I just started looking at extern opportunities in my area for next summer.
thank you for the information I only have 6 months left of nursing school and was really thinking about it since due to covid I don't get as much clinical experience !!! I DONT want to be nervous when I do finally get on the floor when i pass the nclex.
I recently have an interview for a nurse extern position, but I’ve been a CNA for almost 7 years. If I were to accept the job, the rate is lower than my position now. Do you have any negotiation tips?
Eeeeeek!! 😱😳 I would negotiate to at least keep your current rate but just change positions. Stress your long term relationship with the hospital, 7 years that’s almost a decade! Also your work ethic, attendance/time punctuality! Bring up how much of a gem you are to their facility -as you ARE 💎 if the position is lower paying than a CNA, unfortunately there’s not much you could argue, I don’t believe; however, I would fight for your current rate/raises you’ve earned in the past years! & of course if it doesn’t work out, you’d have to decide whether to keep your money, or go for the experience. Please keep me updated, I’d love to see how everything worked out, I hope this advice helped 💕
Hi Domonique, I hope you see this. I might get a position at a hospital for a nurse extern position. On my application I put $17 an hour. However, I'm seeing that there are other nurse extern, who get $20 an hour. If I get the interview, how do you think I could negotiate this? Or do you think it's not appropriate during that time?
Hey Dominique , this is a great video! I am looking into a nurse extern positions. you mentioned a recruiter . Did you use indeed or linkedin to get a recruiter or is it through the hospital?
I'm curious to know if LPNs/LVNs (Already licensed) can work as a nurse extern while in (RN-BSN) nursing school? If IV, EKG, Phlebotomy and acute care training certificates are obtained. Please advise. Thank u 😊
That is something that I am unsure of; I would assume so, not because you have a LPN license but strictly because your completed with half of the RN program which is the main requirement and the only thing that makes you eligible; however, the best way to find out is by asking! ☺️
It’s from Slove Hair & styled by @hair_byedherlie on IG, my best friend ❤️ the details will be in this weekends vlog girly don’t worry, I put y’all on 🤪
My biggest piece of advice is to continue to apply to new positions that open up. Also, take into consideration sprucing up your resume as it could be that also. Lastly, if you know anyone in the hospital that your applying to, tell them to put in a good word for you-that’ll speed up the process a lot!
Yes! Sometimes I work the Covid unit; where everyone in the unit is positive for Covid. That requires me to be suited up and masked up; I don’t even wear my own scrubs there. It’s so crazy!
This video is perfect. I have an interview for nurse extern today and this helped me.

Hi, love this video. What hospital are you externing at? Hope you don't mind me asking
I hope you see this!! Did you need your cna license for the externship position? even though you already had yours?
I see you girly ❤️ & no, nothing is required of you as far as licensure when it comes to becoming an extern.
Is a nurse tech and nurse external the same thing? Just curious because I am in the process of being a nurse tech

Are international students eligible
I have emailed the recruiters and no one has got back to me what do I do?
