Let’s say you managed the role play well, demonstrated the communication strategies they want to see, but didn’t quite do the role play in 5 minutes. The 5 minutes they listen to ( they stop listening to assess at 5mins) will be a good role role play. But, let’s say you struggled through the early tasks, didn’t demonstrate the communication criteria and also did not finish within time. It would definitely affect your score on this case. Try to think of the role play as an opportunity to demonstrate your ability to communicate well with a patient, try to appreciate the patient’s feelings and concerns and be able to explain medical procedures in the sort of language a lay person might understand.
