In HO I made the stands by cutting half way up a length of tube then spreading them out to make the legs (my prototype was that style), a smaller piece of tube was placed in the top of the stand to reduce it to the wire size. The rest was the same as Laurie's.

Laurie, last summer I spent a great deal of time to unsuccessfully do exactly what you did so easily. Couple questions: I also model HOn3. What gap do you have between the points and stock rails, std or larger? And can you provide more detail, or a sketch of the small throw arm under the stand? This Yankuch appreciates your fine videos.

G'Day Bruce, I use a tiny piece of brass shim and drill 2 holes about 0.030" apart, say a 0.020" drill. This I solder the vertical wire to in one hole - don't solder over second hole. I loop a wire through the second hole so it moves freely but stays holding in the shim hole.
Always tinning both mating pieces solder shim base and brass stand - I have a small lathe but you can use tube.
Then insert the target wire up the stand. Make a handle from wire and solder to top wire out of stand.
Then solder the target onto wire. And add PCB ties, I solder one tie to turnout rail and do any adjustments for wire from tiny shim lever to turnout throw.
You need to orientate the 90 degree to suit the way the turnout is set to but when doing this you will see what adjustments are needed.
      Glad to help - Laurie

Laurie, thank you for the quick and clear response. Only other question is what is the dimension of the point to stock rail? Per NMRA HOn3 gauge or widen to...?
