I used to think that Taylor had tons of prepared material for interviews like this because she always seemed to have a funny response ready to go. But then the jokes just kept coming and I realized, wait a second, she is just that quick. Either she has a massive rolodex of jokes for every possible situation or her brain writes jokes like ChatGPT. Either way, I'm looking forward to her show!
Probably cause they worship a dude that killed every man woman child and infant on earth except for 8 and who burns people for all eternity for thought crime. I think they're just going for consistency.
She's one of the funniest comedians I've ever watched. I feel lucky to be close enough to her age that I can really relate to many of her jokes. Absolutely phenomenal.
For the record, I am 65 and find her to be one of the funniest women comics in the world. I would go further and say she is one of the quickest minds in comedy. She is Robin Williams with breasts. Just as with all the best comedians, she seems to live for hecklers. The best ones look, scan the audience, for hecklers. That gives them a vehicle to keep the rest of the crowd entertained. She is literally that quick. I have no problem putting her in the same category as Robin, at least as a comedian. I don't know what kind of actor she is, as I can't recall her being in anything, but I would wager she could aquit herself just fine in a film.
They have such a good rapartee. I can see Stephen seeing himself in her. And her in awe but still clear-headed. I hope they have many more. Cannot wait for Tomlinson's show!!!
I came into this expecting a few giggles, but what I did not expect was to spray my mouthful of tea everywhere at "I know it sounds silly but it's REAL!!!" Even Stephen laughed for real at that one. The unexpected laughs are the best ones.
She's extremely talented! Earlier in her career she was already given a spotlight by Conan so she's got letters of recommendation from at least two of the titans of modern late night. Her standup is very dynamic, well-paced and clever, she used to do some really great crowd work as well, I think she'll knock it out of the park
While her Netflix shows contained jokes that she’s polished on the tour, and are very funny, there are a lot of clips on the Internet of her interacting with the audience that are excellent.
Even in this short interview she reacts to Stephen with a wit and comedic instinct that shows it's not just preparation. She is precisely the type of comedian that can carry a live interview show.
@@nocturnomedieval I just saw that clip about a month ago. It was hysterical! "It happened to your dad too?! You sick f%&k." Her interactions with the audience is great.

Taylor is innately humorous and witty. It's not just the writing, it's her experience of messing with Christianity in America that makes her so authentic and relatable. ❤🎉🎉🎉
I’m not a huge fan of her yet, but I’m all for that & I’m rooting for her. She has big shoes to create & I hope she can do it. I can’t help but feel she’s not ready, tho. Either she nails it or she doesn’t - it’s a cut throat biz. I hope she does & I’ll be watching!
Stephen's advice about the professionally attractive people is so true. But I've interviewed a lot of actors in my industry and the thing that you're never prepared for are the celebs who are actually more good-looking in real life, to the point that they don't even seen human. It takes your brain a little while to catch up to the questions your mouth is asking because it shorts out for a second just trying to get your head around their face.
I've only seen (and really enjoyed) her stand up, but good stand ups have so many transferable skills that moving into hosting, acting, or other disciplines usually pays dividends. And with her self-deprecating humour I'm very much looking forward to seeing what she does. But just in case the TV companies have forgotten, it's not "1 in, 1 out" so you're allowed to bring back Sam Bee and Amber Ruffin. 😉
Self-deprecating humour is not usually respected in the US, but Tomlinson seems to have found a way to make it work. I think it's because she makes it very relatable.
I discovered her through some youtube shorts, and she's ALWAYS hilarious. I'm glad she's gaining more recognition and hope to see her go really far, because she's definitely one of the funniest comedians out there.
A big part of Taylor's act is about how she's "the plain one" or not "gorgeous." I hope she is just using those memes as joke material because I believe, have ALWAYS believed, that she is one of the best looking comedians out there. AND one of the funniest. Might as well say it ... she's perfect.
Taylor is a great stand-up comic, I've been enjoying her humour for years. Thank-you. Thinks quickly on her feet and will make a fantastic 'Late Night' host. Congratulations. Cheers.
I was just going to say, the only sad part of Taylor hosting a late night show is no more specials. Thank God she's got one coming. And the day before Valentines day too is perfect because all us singles are going to need some cheering up when we realize how alone we are on the 14th :P
Thank you! I am useless at identifying what the band is playing for 10-15 seconds, even when I know the original. I know I am missing clever little references.
I really hope CBS will air Taylor's late night show in bits on TH-cam like they do for Stephen's show. It's the only way I watch Late Night with Stephen Colbert. ....

Move over Johnny, Dave, Jay, Jimmy, James, Seth, and Stephen - there's a new late night sheriff in town! Taylor Tomlinson is hitching up to host the new CBS show "After Midnight," and she's ready for blazing saddles with her throwback style. This whip-smart funny filly is a callback to the glory days of comedy, when legends like Hope, Benny, Marx, and Burns ruled the roost. Taylor's here to honor their legacy with her classic style and razor sharp wit. But don't let her old soul fool you - her material is fresh as a daisy. She's got the confidence of Sid Caesar, the likeability of Carney, the insight of Rivers, and the charm of Carson. And with those calves, we'd follow her anywhere! Taylor may be a bastion of tradition in the world of modern comedy, but she's also a pioneer - the first female host of a major network late night show. So put on your cowboy boots and saddle up for some seriously funny business with the fabulous Ms. Tomlinson. We'll happily ride off into the sunset with this spectacular new voice after midnight each night. Welcome to the herd, Taylor!
I'm gonna hazard a guess and say they're aiming for a young millennial audience with her show, and the best way to get those views is through new media marketing. They'd be really shooting themselves in the foot if they didn't, so probably yes
"No forgiveness in Christian Comedy".
That's _the_ joke and it's hilarious.
Because its so very true.

I think she has what it takes. Very commanding charisma and amicable sense of humor.
