    Amy acting like Sheldon isn't a mama's boy 😄 the only reason he doesn't still live with her is because they're in different states. He'd totally live with her if he stayed in Texas.
    Also, why is it a problem for Americans to live with their parents? Howard's mom didn't have anyone. Why would've he left her all alone, be alone and pay rent? Is it some kind or landlord propaganda? 😄 It's rare in my country just to go ahead and move out for no reason.

    • @sksaddrakk5183
      @sksaddrakk5183 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      okay a couple of things here. Yeah Sheldon would totally live with his mom IF he did not deliberately move out to not be controlled by a zealous reborn christian (or whatever religion Mary Sheldon is a follower of) who explains everything with god's will, which is clearly against Sheldon's own values and beliefs. One reason to move out from your parent's place is that you do not necessarily want your parents to know when, how often, how long, with whom and to what level of satisfaction you have intercourse (amongst a lot of other things) and because you want to live by your own rules. Of course you can trade these freedoms for the comfyness of your momma's home and become more or less a freeloader (as you seem to suggest that an engineer who works for the NASA will not pay rent, if they stay at home.

      Howard's relationship with his mother does go beyond just living at home. I agree though that there is an inappropriate stigma in America to living at home. But what they give Howard a hard time about isn't him living at home.

    • @MaxMckayful
      @MaxMckayful ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@sksaddrakk5183 While the freedoms listed are legit, you also are shackled to needing to earn more, which isn't exactly "freeing" in that sense. Also, only some people are freeloaders. Others work while living intergenerationally and contribute to house chores. On the whole I'd describe it as trade-offs with pros and cons each way, and dependent on one's personal relationship with parents. What's being called out here is the cultural value that it's "correct" and "desired" to move out, and it's looked down upon to not. And ask why, when each choice seems valid and comes with pros and cons.

    • @sksaddrakk5183
      @sksaddrakk5183 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MaxMckayful I agree that there is no 'wrong' or 'false' in that situation. I just wish to point out that if one does not contribute financially to the daily costs, I would consider such person a 'freeloader', as regardless how many times one takes out the trash or does the dishes or the washing, someone else has to pay for ones food, heating, accomodation (be it rent or mortgage) et cetera. The 'need' to earn more is probably inevitable if one wishes to start a family of their own...

      they cannot? Did not Newton stipulate the theory about gravity and then went on and proved it?

    • @Logan_Baron
      @Logan_Baron ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well yes and no. It's a matter of degrees. Scientific theories are all proven in some sense. If you look at it with the court of law standard of "beyond a reasonable doubt" then no, they're never 100% proven. But for something to become a scientific theory it does need to be tested and become the most likely answer. But then sometimes later more information comes that overrides the old theories. The problem comes from even science using the 2 different definitions for "theory". When they say "scientific theory" they man the generally accepted answers that have been determined through testing. While not all theories that theoretic physicists come up with become part of the widely accepted one Scientific Theory. But no scientific theory will ever become a law (as those are 2 different things). The issue then is if any of Sheldon's theories have ever been accepted by the scientific community as part of the main scientific theory. But surely Sheldon has made major contributions that pretty much "Proven" to a large enough degree to be considered accurate.

      you're thinking of religion, dude.
      in science, theory means fact.
      in religion, thinking something is correct without proof is called faith.
      science flies you to the moon, faith flies you into buildings.
      science used reality to stave off covid, billions survived.
      faith told people it was all a hoax, 2 million plus americans with faith died, another 10-15 million christians ended up with lifetime brain and body damage.

    • @Howareyou414
      @Howareyou414 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tdcfc I think you dont understand what I meant. I am not trying to devalue science. I am just saying, that you always have some probability that the theory is actually incorrect. In science you spend your time trying to disprove a theory. If you cant disprove it with the data you have you work with it in the future. The probability that you couldnt disprove it when it in fact is not actually true is usually really small (p-value=0.05 etc.) but it is there. Always. So, you never really prove a theory or a hypothesis. That is not how it works. You usually try to make a model that is as close to the reality as possible with the tools, methods and knowledge we already have but the model will never be perfect. That is okay. The most important thing I learnt as a graduate in a scientific field is: Nothing is definite. And for people who dont understand how science works it can actually be dangerous to blindly believe everything media said was "scientifically proven", because media has the tendence to not cite and also not do their research. And I feel like everyone who ever tried to find out answers in some scientific field found out that different people have different outcomes of similar studies because they manipulate the data differently or use different methods. Also the perspective tends to shift over time. So, the common believe that science can prove something with 100% certainty is incorrect.
      Just google: Science doesn't prove ... or smt similar and see what I mean.
