Interesting video, Ben, particularly since the RC field you landed at belongs to me! LOL!! One of the members pointed out on Messenger, you had a video of you landing and taking off from it. Being RC we don't get to see what you see. You are welcome to visit anytime, just make sure if there vehicles down there you give us time to get out of the way. Our flight patterns are always North of the strip.
Been there done that! Word of CAUTION to anyone wanting to get down and low flying around! ALWAYS, ALWAYS do a ground recon of any field or area you want to do some low flying! I was EXTREMELY fortunate when I hit a powerline going across a farmers soy bean field to his barn! The power pole was along a tree line and the single strand wire went directly to the barn and was practically invisible against the lush green field! Never saw it, I went forward in my shoulder straps and thing heard a loud "PING" sounding like a piano wire breaking! Fortunately, my spring steel landing gear snapped the wire with only a small bit of paint off the forward edge of the spring gear! So NEVER fly blow in an area unless you've looked it over from the ground! I was very lucky!
Beautiful. Here in western Maine we have trees and mountains so the only easy alternate is the road youre following. And thats why we have pitifully few ULs in these woods.
I flew my Quick Silver MX in south Florida back in the 80's and loved every minuet. I really like being taken back in time while watching these videos :-)
I loved flying my kolb!! Had an engine failure and had to set it down in a plowed field, and once all the weight of the A/C was on the wheels, it 'stopped' rolling and flipped over.....no damage, and I was up flying again in a few days
This video is incredible. I've had ultralights on my mind for a long time but this video makes me feel like I really NEED to prioritize and persue this. So inspiring. I won't be able to sleep tonight. :)
Like the other guy….been there ,done that. Looking for deer, buzzing the corn/soybean fields. Even more fun when the evenings when I was flying the paramotor. I need to get back to Ohio… great video.
This is one of the best low flying videos I have seen. All the deer in the fields were neat to see. The whole area is beautiful. Thumb up, subbed, and can't wait to see more of your content.
Hi Ben....just subscribed....I just bought a Talon XP which has a single hydraulic hand brake....I see you have a split hand brake allowing you differential braking...although I believe I heard you say yours is cable and not hydraulic.....I'm looking for a duel hydraulic hand brake set up like yours and would be very interested in more detail on your setup especially if you have any contacts for a hydraulic setup. Thanks in advance and I am enjoying your channel!
Hi I've enjoyed your videos. I am 68 years old but would still like it to have a firefly. They seem hard to come by. I watched your setup of the Firefly and I noticed you have One Wing strut but I have noticed on some they have two what is the difference thank you for any info.
That was exquisite and just what I needed to see tonight. Magnificent. Gotta tell you the kolb rep at Sun n fun was unfriendly and pessimistic, but I'm still considering it along with the Aerolite 103. I can't remember do you have the F-23 in that Firefly? Again, just a super video, Ben.
Hi new subscriber this is the 1st video I watched of yours and I must say I'm jealous always wanted an ultralight of my own however can't afford to buy one
Just curious where in Michigan you live, love your videos. I fly a foot launch powered paraglider but have wanted an ultralight for years. Actually I started out years ago with a private pilots license flying Cessnas but I find the low and slow flying far more fun. I'm in between Grand Rapids and Kzoo.
What is the deal with flying out of your own land? Does the local government try to get into every hole about the case? I am looking to buy some land in the desert to do the same.
Hi Ben , My brother and me are looking into buying something like you are flying there . What would you think something like that would cost . Thanks for the nice video . What is the make and how old is that machine . Thanks Ken
Hello nice video, I’m stuck between this ultralight and the Aerolite 103, I would be sold on this one if I was able to get a ready to fly model, that’s one disadvantage of this ultralight. Is there anyone or shop that will build this for me if I purchase the kit because this one is really catching my eye
I'm near kalamazoo michigan and I can't find a decent rc airfield so I've been using the road lmao, shoot I'm selling all my rc to get an ultralight frfr 100% lmao good night fur a flight yo
I live near Kzoo also and have been wanting to fly ultralight ever since I took a flight from Plainwell back in the day when they use to sell and offer quick flights from a two place ultralight.
I've really enjoyed your videos, but since you've started using the 360 degree camera I end up Fast Forwarding through it. When you have a long segment of the 360, or multiple segments with shorter Pilot POV thrown in, I just move on to another channel. I simply despise the 360 degree: warped view for speed, disorientation of sizes and distances, which makes it, for me, unwatchable. I'll keep watching for your build videos, but since it looks like you're going to be doing more 360 optics, I'll pass on the flying videos. Cheers from the Oil Patch in Central WY
Does 25 mph into a field scare you? I've had much faster dirt bike wrecks than that. This thing is an ultralight, ultra low energy. Flying low over thousand acre fields is not asking to die, it's just fun. Fun that you'll never have.
I enjoy the expanded range and speed envelope that these Kolbs have in comparison. (30-63mph ish ;). Paramotors are very cool but this gave me the best performance vs cost that could operate from my yard. P.S. Notice the risky biscuits sticker on my rudder. I need to find a local paramotor pilot to fly with!
The 360 was great Ben thanks for sharing.

Awesome Dale! I grew up on rc planes and still do alot of rc flying myself! Never landed at a rc field that wasn't full of nice people :)
This is the dream… I fly paramotor now, but one day I hope to have enough land to launch a fixed wing off my own property! Thanks for posting!

Wow! A near decapitation incident like that would probably scare me away from low-flying...forever.
Beautiful. Here in western Maine we have trees and mountains so the only easy alternate is the road youre following. And thats why we have pitifully few ULs in these woods.
Awesome video, beautiful landscape, your living the dream, thanks for posting God bless.
Awesome footage and dont by shy with the Phazer swap Kitfox!!!
Thanks for taking us flying! That was awesome!!!!
I flew my Quick Silver MX in south Florida back in the 80's and loved every minuet. I really like being taken back in time while watching these videos :-)
Where did you fly over and what could you see in south Florida??? 👍
I loved flying my kolb!! Had an engine failure and had to set it down in a plowed field, and once all the weight of the A/C was on the wheels, it 'stopped' rolling and flipped over.....no damage, and I was up flying again in a few days
Hey I was there with you and you didn't even notice me great flight. Thanks
Truly enjoyed this and all of your videos. Brought back memories of the way I used to fly my Hurricane many years ago.
This video is incredible. I've had ultralights on my mind for a long time but this video makes me feel like I really NEED to prioritize and persue this. So inspiring. I won't be able to sleep tonight. :)
Fun flying. I built a Kolb firestar II and loved it. Sold it now building a sonex #1472
Been there done that in a Challenger I clipped wing. It like a magic carpet ride. That camera is really cool
Awesome footage keep em coming. Kitfox also...
Enjoyed the fly!!
HI really enjoyed these trips great fun to watch great job bob UK.
Great video!
That’s for sharing,.....really enjoyed your flight,......really calming and enjoyable,...again,....Thanks. 😎👍✌️
The 360 camera 📷 improves video production quality 100X! Very interesting. Would have liked to seen deer 🦌 & other wildlife closer.
Currently fly PPG and really like the idea of something like this in my future. Thanks for sharing!
I think most of us would like to have a ultralight as would I ! And if I owned one low and slow would be what I would enjoy most.
Very nice !
Like the other guy….been there ,done that. Looking for deer, buzzing the corn/soybean fields. Even more fun when the evenings when I was flying the paramotor. I need to get back to Ohio… great video.
great footage, I love seeing you fly!
Def looks fun! Take the Phazer Kobe to that same RC strip!
Good idea
nice video..enjoy flying as long as you can..
This is one of the best low flying videos I have seen. All the deer in the fields were neat to see. The whole area is beautiful. Thumb up, subbed, and can't wait to see more of your content.
That is the kind of flying that I’m aiming for!!! Thanks for the ride….
i realize it's kinda randomly asking but does anybody know of a good place to watch new series online?
@Dakari Luca Flixportal =)
@Evan Sergio thanks, I went there and it seems like a nice service =) I really appreciate it !
@Dakari Luca Happy to help xD
Awesome! My dad and I fly there, super cool to see!
I enjoyed the video throughly ...Thank you!
do you use a noise canceling headset? if so, what model? what handheld radio do you use?
Cool video. Cool channel. Not sure about the 360 camera yet....
This is awesome. Would love to do this.

wonder if it would be worth a 360 vr video where the user can choose where to look
cool video
Good to see you back in the air bro, 2000k is just for starters! Don't get me wrong, 360 is great, but good audio is greater! ;)
Thanks for the video. I really appreciate it and I will like to buy an ultralight like that. Thanks a lot! Grettings from Chile.
Love to hear what u think about TRIKES with their opposite controll system but very easy folding to keep in garage
Trikes are neat but I don't really see the advantage or benefit over a normal fixed wing such as a kolb.
You know of course a power line strike would be fatal with the pilot forward configuration..looks so fun be careful..
i like scale flying. nice vids.

Very cool flying!
I love the FireFly...I'll trade my paramotor any day for one!
Why switch?
Nice flying! What kind of motor and how many hp do you have on that Firefly?
Rotax 447 40hp
Whats the wingspan
22ft
That was exquisite and just what I needed to see tonight. Magnificent.

So you forgot to turn the fuel on and you dumped it in the corn field is that correct?
Just curious where in Michigan you live, love your videos. I fly a foot launch powered paraglider but have wanted an ultralight for years. Actually I started out years ago with a private pilots license flying Cessnas but I find the low and slow flying far more fun. I'm in between Grand Rapids and Kzoo.
Between Lansing and Detroit air space
What are you doing with the floats at the end of the video? It had the word “mariner” on it.
Thanks Ken
Warmer weather.. NICE.
Great content and keep at it.
Flat land, lots of woods, cold snowy winters? Where are you?
Lower Michigan
No aviation lights?
How long is your firefly? I would like to buy an enclosed trailer to store one in and wondering how big do it need to go.
What’s the key to flying low?
Do FARs on minimum altitude above terrain, structures, and people not apply to ultralights?
Correct, Far Part 103 has its own specific rule set.
Very nice
Night? Its sunny n bright. Do you need instrument ratings
Daytime only vfr
How did you do the front views? Chase plane?
will someone correct me but in any ultralight wouldnt it be better to have the motor and prop behind the seat or in front
Both have their pros and cons. I prefer pusher for ultralights.
Who supplies the nose cone?
Yeah deer everywhere, except during deer season or in yo head lights lol

Do your neighbors get upset with the noise taking off from your property?
No noise complaints yet. Also there is no noise ordinance where I live. Another perk of living off the beaten path.
Awsome brother
More firefly!
I noticed you carry a intercom, is that so you can record radio chatter on the GoPro?
Yes, it also allows for me to narrate. I use the audio out port to a gopro audio in.
Awesome!
Fun flying --yes. Watching the view bounce, spin, twist and move Not so much! Helmet Cams suck!
Awesome
What do you think of the bow tip hand holds I installed??
Very handy!
@@bkairys Forgot to install them on the second Firefly that I built..
Where are you from ? Joe H. Toledo, Ohio
Near 69G

New sub from near Hudsonville, Michigan. So where are you located near Ben? Nice video.
Near Howell Mi
@@bkairys thanks for letting me know.
Be careful flying around Michigan I've heard your governor likes to take her broom up when it's getting towards night.
What IS the safest altitude & airspeed for this hobby?
Beautiful!!
Cool bird, but your camera-man-ship needs a little fine polishing, I think I got sea sick..
Weeeeeeee! So fun.
Good

YEE HAW!!
Low and slow in an ultralight is just asking to die. Good luck to you... I suspect we will hear of your demise soon

WAY too fast for my taste.......you need a paramotor ! 👌
