I was searching for some good Revit tutorials and i found this interesting video this video is really awesome waiting for more videos from you shahrukh sir
Unfortunately, the formula assumes that the X (Length) dimension is greater than the Y (Width). Obviously that is not always the case in a typical building. Since typical notation of X x Y dimensions always lists the X first, you'll need to use two different labels in your family and use additional parameters to hide one label or the other when X or Y is the greater number. I ended up with two family types that I can switch between based on the greater dimension. Formula does not work at all if room is square. 😕 So another label must be added where Length is simply Perimeter / 4 and then a third family type added for a square room.
I am still having the trouble as others. I followed your method. I would like it to show Length x Width every time, however this method (as well as others I've found) will show the bigger dimension first every time wither it's the width or the length of the room. Any suggestions?
The formula assumes the X dimension is larger and will work perfectly if that's the case, but will flip the dimension otherwise. Since we can't use formulas based on Area, etc. to calculate this automatically in our parameters, we have to create two types (and associated Yes/No parameters for visibility) for our room tag based on whether the x dimension is greater or less than the Y.
First of all thank you very much for sharing the information 😊❤❤❤ I have tried as per your instructions it's working but what about L,C,U shape rooms !!!😢 The parameters don't work properly 😮😮😮 can you please give solution on that....😊 Thank you in advance 🙂
@@bimparametrics7037 one more problem sir jee if you add plaster thickness to brick wall so the room parameters count room dimensions from internel face of the plaster not from brick face 😭 how to solve that problem 😭
the formula only works for rectangular spaces. if the room is not a rectangle the area of the space makes the formula based upon the area incorrect with respect to the dimension value.
after trying this the result i'm getting is longer side X shorter side. And if I change formula to(Perimeter + sqrt(Perimeter ^ 2 - 16 * Area)) / 4 result i'm getting is shorter side X longer side. but in the video i can clearly see that it's x by y. how do I achieve that. can someone please help me out. thank you.

Hi usually when i do this , the dimension which is the largest appears first . Usually when we dimension it we do the horizontal dimension first followed by the vertical one. but if the horizontal is lesser then revit automatically makes the dimension with the higher value appears first. is there anyway to control that ?

Grate .. I saw many tutorials which achieve this using dynamo .You done this in Revit itself, brilliant👌 . Thank you
Thank you very much Sujith✌️

Thanks very much for tutorial tag room
That was excellent, thank you
Amazing! Thank you for sharing!
Thank you, please subscribe for more videos
i tried this and it just tells me that my “length” is case sensitive and doesn’t work so idk what i’m doing wrong
genius! thank you for your sharing!
Wow am amazed thanks
Super Sound quality

Nice thanks! What can I do if my room is not squared/rectangled? I have an L shaped room.
got the same problem.
very well done. thanks
For length every other youtubers use a different formula . I wonder if both are correct
How can I apply this for L shape rooms? or curved room... any suggestion will be much appreciated. Thank you in advance.
It is very nice for a room with only four walls, but does not work for irregularly shaped room, such as an octagon.

Edit label > select the top parameter, and shift it to below the other parameter.

Sure, I am trying to develop a paramateric equation for same. Once done I will share here

I guess this only works with rectangular or square rooms?
Yes

Have you tried this formula?, Because as per this formula it will not create the same issue.
Let me know if you still facing the same.
@@bimparametrics7037 same problem. It doesn't work as you say

This does not work, but I found a solution that works for all rooms, square or rectagular
Can you share with us
This formula for length would give you accurate result only if the Length of Room is greater than the width. So not accurate
