    Glad you posted, I been thinking about you and hoping you and family was safe from all that devastation. You’re a good son as well. Your father will enjoy that very much.

    Nice setup for your Dad, great work....Rule of Thumb in electrical, always hook up the load first, then the line....safety first.

      Before you connect to battery, should have connected to inverter incase battery somehow shorts out on you, 51volts at that amperage can kill you.

      Be a good idea to do all the inverter hookups before connecting it to the line at the battery honestly.

    You talk about the corrosion that comes on the terminals. I used to look after a battery bank for a local radio station. And you put Vaseline over the terminals and you get no corrosion it’s pretty standard if you know about lead acid batteries

    Where does your AC output go? Did you hook it up to a junction box and run 120v circuts from there?

      The Ranch House already has breaker panel the romex go straight to it.

    Over $4000 for just 11kw :(. I like the design of the big battery but I can build 23kw battery pack for the same price. Glad BigBattery took care of your father 👍

      How?

    • @Ojames600
      @Ojames600 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LVLifeguard I purchase raw cells from Docan power and just add a JK BMS with 2A active balancer.
      EVE 280K 280ah 6000cycle USD $111/pc
      EVE 230Ah USD $106/pc
      CATL LF280 295Ah 6000cycle USD $135/pc
      CATL 228Ah 240ah USD $108/pc

      EVE 105ah USD $62

    I know its not as convenient but building your own lifepo4 battery bank is kinda the way to go. I did the pre built stuff at first but soon realized....

      @ModernOffGridDIY  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I completely understand your point but for most people building there own is out of there comfort zone.

    • @matthewknight5641
      @matthewknight5641 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ModernOffGridDIY it was out of comfort zone for sure till I realized I couldn't afford to buy 30 kw of server rack batteries. The grade a eve cells are still kinda expensive but probably a third or quarter of buying premaid

    • @niktak1114
      @niktak1114 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@matthewknight5641the difference is big but not THAT big. Server rack batteries are around $300-350/kWh depending on model. Comparable DIY packs with grade A LF280K cells are ~$200/kWh.

      @matthewknight5641 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@niktak1114 I have 48 280 k grade a eve cells. I've built 2 batteries for my system and each battery is 3p8s. It come out to 840 amp hours in each battery so its actually 1680 qmp hours. I really wish I'd started with 48 volt stuff tho. Mostly the only reason I'd rather have 48 volt is I'd have half as many victron charge controllers to have bought. This might sound weird but I was kinda addicted to the solar battery stuff for awhile. Sorry for the long response but I kinda like to chat with others woth the same interests I guess.

    Always look forward to your videos. Happy for your father too! Wondering what the cost is now per KWH for grid power in the 808. Be well. Aloha 🌴

    What an awesome gift that Big Battery has given to your Dad Definitely a game changer for him to have more power and no maintenance. Does he live at the ranch year round? How cold does it get in the winter?

    Thanks to big battery for the upgrade. Lead acid battery with corrosion and space issue is all gone wine lithium ion Phosphate.

    You could wire the generator to the A.C. input on the growatt. Possibly the dry contacts would be programmed to start a two-wire generator. But with all the solar you've installed he probably will never need the generator in the future. 😂

    I have both lead acid and LFP batteries. The LFP are nicer but I wouldn't have them in a shed or garage here due to cold weather. They sit snugly in my home's lower level.
