    • @SarahZafar

      Hello,
      once you let the plain yogurt get dry as it shows you on the video, you can start making the Quroots into small circles
      using regular plain yogurt out of the container let all the liquid out over night using cheese cloth,

      @@saramo1882 Yes not a problem Happy to help,
      You can leave it at your kitchen counter over for the night for the plain yogurt to get ready and dry before you make it ito QUROOTS :)
      if you keep it in the fridge its going to get moist and not complete dry.

    I’m definitely going to try to make some this summer! I also like making my own yogurt (way cheaper). Right now I’m Texas it’s spring and the weather doesn’t always allow for 3 days of full sun. So I may just try the fridge suggestion and see how that goes.
    And just out of curiosity, do some people dip these in chocolate or cover them like chocolate covered strawberries?

I put the Quroot in my dehydrator on the lowest temperature of 95 F. Can you tell me how dry they should be? I've never had Quroot, or even heard of it until I saw your video several days ago. Also, what does one do with the finished product and how should it be stored? Thank you for sharing your knowledge.

      to make the sauce of Quroot for any Afghan recipes.
      you'll need to soak the Quroot in warm water for over night, But make sure to rinse it with water first,
      the nest day once its all soft you can put it in your mixer with a little more water, But make sure its nice and soft.

    hello , hope you are doing well , sorry to bother , i just wanted to know its nutritional values like protein , fat and lactose percentages if you are aware of or may refer to any website where i may find ? reply will be highly appreciated , thanks and best regards

    • @hastman7960
      @hastman7960 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well technically it depends on the yogurt or the milk you use to make that yogurt. So for example you can make yogurt out of goat, sheep, camel or cow milk which ever you prefer in nutrients. For me its goat milk due to its high proteins and less lactose. Then there is also the different varieties of milk like skimmed, full fat, semi skimmed etc. So the all in all the end product of Qurut has the 80%-90% nutrients of the milk from which the yogurt is made and rest nutrients are drained with the water which is also called whey. You can further use that water to feed animals or use it for baking and soups.

    So, hung yogurt that's been salted and dried into mini paneer balls. Looks good. :) (Also, any Indian, Pashtun, Turkic, Persian, or Arabian dish calling for hung yogurt can be done with plain Greek yogurt and drained in half the time. My friend Ali used to make paneer in a similar way in college. He was Pakistani and a culinary major. )

      Sarah Zafar Ali could cook like crazy. His American girlfriend, not so much. Lol. He always had something tasty for us guys in our dorm at MSU. Pulao, biryani, tahdig, the best lamb dishes in the world. On weekends, the guys would invite him to the bar for drinks but always politely declined because he was a devout Muslim. Instead, I'd invite him to the local hookah lounge and he'd bring something good. They all missed out!!! Happy memories. :)

    The Qoroot I used to munch on when I was a kid looked much darker/grayer in color - perhaps because of all the dirt mixture or perhaps the salt they used contained sand. If those are not the reason, why are yours so bright white :D

    • @SarahZafar
      @SarahZafar  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      razever thats becoz mine is homemade from pure and clean Yogurt container made in Canada. plus I dont live in Afghanistan where the Quroots were left in outside for days and weeks to get dry.....! I honestly am not sure how they made the Quroots back home which you have mentioned and discrib, but that was my guess......

    I love we qurut but the problem is that I don't get soft and less salty qurut as I was used to eat in my childhood days. from years I have been getting extremely sour and salty qurut and so hard that I even can't eat them.

    • @SarahZafar
      @SarahZafar  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Have you tried my recipe yet?
      you need to buy 3 percent plain yogurt...the higher the fat of dairy is the less sour it should.
      and please use less salt as it shows you on my video...Good Luck :)

    First thing if u wrap it with plastic moisture can't escape. You should use towel instead. Second thing i did go to afghan store and got some qurut. It was like a rock. I thought i will break my teeth. The store owner said u suck on it. But again sucking gave very little flavor. I will try this at home hope its not as hard as what i have purchased before

    • @streamx2
      @streamx2 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      qaroqchi i can deal with the hardness but not the hair and dirt. It comes from Jalalabad etc to Kabul so it gathers all the dust, then after being in kabul for so long someone buys some to bring an sell here. Making it at home is the best option.
