CASTELL DE FARNERS

El castell era un feu del vescomtat de Cardona i la castlania la van ostentar la família Farners fins al segle xiii, en què va passar als Vilademany. El 1240 Pere Ramon de Vilademany el va cedir en testament al seu fill Arnau i va lligar la dependència senyorial al vescomte Ramon Folc IV de Cardona. Hi va haver discrepàncies a finals del segle xiii entre la sobirania que exercia el rei Pere el Gran, que reclamava la potestat del castell al vescomte Ramon Folc VI de Cardona, i aquest, que es resistia a cedir-la, la qual cosa va arribar a crear un greu problema de jurisdicció fins ben passat el segle xiv.
El castell també va tenir episodis destacats en la guerra civil catalana contra Joan II: el van ocupar els remences el 1485 i després de la Sentència Arbitral de Guadalupe va tornar a ser ocupat altre cop pels pagesos condemnats, que n'havien quedat exclosos dels beneficis. Després de Joan Pere de Vilademany va passar a Carles de Vilademany i de Cruïlles, i els últims senyors del patrimoni dels Vilademany van ser els comtes d'Aranda i el seu successor, el duc d'Híjar.
El seu darrer ús data del segle xviii, quan fou ocupat per un regiment borbònic arran de la Guerra de Successió.
Apareix documentat el 1046 al jurament de fidelitat del vescomte Ramon Folc I de Cardona al comte Ramon Berenguer I.[1]
Tot i que podeu accedir als peus del castell i l’ermita de Farners en cotxe, us animem que gaudiu de l’impressionant entorn i aparqueu a l’ampli aparcament que trobareu al parc de Sant Salvador. Un cop aparcats, només us heu d’endinsar al parc i seguir el recorregut senyalitzat que us portarà en escassos 4km al peu del castell.
Aquesta construcció romànica del s. XI, conjuntament amb el turó del Vent, el cim ubicat davant per davant del castell, us ofereix unes vistes espectaculars de la plana de la Selva i part de les Guilleries. Although you can access the foot of the castle and the chapel of Farners by car, we encourage you to enjoy the impressive surroundings and park in the large car park that you will find in the Sant Salvador park. Once parked, all you have to do is enter the park and follow the signposted route that will take you to the foot of the castle in just 4km.
This Romanesque construction of the s. XI, together with the hill of the Wind, the peak located in front of the castle, offers you spectacular views of the Selva plain and part of the Guilleries. The castle, a small fortress adapted to the terrain, which was restored a few years ago, offers as a highlight the possibility of climbing to the top of the main tower, as well as walking the circular path
