Same here. I had it on my DS as well and when I would look up videos on how to beat it I would constantly see the console versions and wonder why my game looked worse. Blew my mind a few years ago when I was browsing steam and found the PC/Console edition. Great stuff.

@@chromerot yeah you have to get your XP level (or whatever it’s called I forgot lol) all the way up to max. It was kind of a cool reward I just randomly found out one day playing the game on ps3 like 5 years ago lol. Messing around as a samurai is somewhat useless kinda fun, and it’s not really an advantage in the game or whatever, so it’s not giving you a sense of “oh I need to grind this game to get this”, it’s kind of just more a casual side-benefit that adds to the replayability :)

I always love fishing in this game, which is why the flooded village is my favorite level. The open area where you have to use your hat to go across the village that has been flooded is really good but my favorite fishing spot is the one close to the shop in the bamboo forest. It's just so zenny. So calming. I really want another adventure game where it doesn't always feel like 100 enemies are chasing me all the time. I want more modern games where I can explore actually beautifully stunning places and you can do small relaxing stuff there, even if it's just fishing in the middle of a bamboo forest that has been submerged. I do think that this is what we all need. It's actually getting a bit tiring with all the crazy combos with hard enemies games that we got nowadays. I mean, I like them, I like challenges, but I also like to take a deep breath once in a while. Just sit there and enjoy the view. The videogame industry, especially triple a studios, really need this type of games

Really glad you bring up the "futuristic" UI thing. Always in your face and needlessly complicated, ham-fisted insert into genres where it doesn't fit, and is often intrusive or immersion breaking even where it does fit. Part of why I still love Oblivion and Mini Ninjas. Oblivion's UI is your adventuring journal and map, with your item lists being like if your character was keeping a ledger with sketches alongside the entries. Mini Ninjas UI is literally the scroll you can see on the main character's back, and opening the inventory screen has it scroll horizontally like you're actually turning through an Asian style scroll. Sometimes its the simplest things that can make or break the experience.

I was listening to this video without having rlly studied the thumbnail and you don't mention the game in the title so hearing you talk about mini ninjas was such a shock and I was grinning the whole time. I love that game so much and periodically go back to it and beat it.

If two people had it on DS and were close by, they could play co-op. It was a 1v1 where one person is the main nInja and one person is a samurai and they place you on a decent sized map so you guys would have to find each other and fight. I remember as a kid playing it with my buddies at daycare.

When I was younger, my dad brought me and my brothers to GameStop once and we each got to pick a game. I can't remember what I picked, but my dad picked Mini Ninjas for the 360 because he thought it looked cool. When I saw the cover art for it, I expected it would be some basic kids game and I wouldn't like it, but that could not be further from the truth. My brothers, dad, and I each took turned playing that game for weeks. It had so many cool spells and fun mechanics. I especially liked how his hat could be used as a sled or boat at the press of the RS button, as well as the spell that turned you into a bush. Also the parkour and secret passageways. That game was so imaginative and simply really fun to explore and advance in the story. I wish the steam port was better because I'd love to replay that game on my PC now.

I got all 6 bookmarkers of this game
And it was mind blowing finding out,
The 3 good and 3 bad, paired up
    is one team character poster.
It's like finding out that the magazine publisher, who had an Avenger each week for a year,
could all be played in order and
the Average logo was there the whole time
    that is like National Treasure
    puzzle thinking

I played this game by chance, I never saw of any adverts or anything for it. I had an Xbox back around 2011 or 12, fast forward, and whenever we used to go to a toy store, I would look in the reduced games section. Around this time they were getting rid of a lot of Xbox 360 games (rip xbox /360) I had picked this up with a few other games and honestly didn’t give it to much thought. Out of all the games. It was the one who played last, but the most I ended up for the sugar, i fell in love with its atmosphere. I had forgotten about it all these years right until I saw the thumbnail of this video. This was such a special experience in my childhood that could not be replicated. Thank you for that :))

I played Lego indiana Jones demo so damn much on the Xbox 360, but on our ps3 had mini ninjas demo, and I had a blast. I never asked for my parents to buy the game, but boy was it a blast to play the first level over and over again. I’ll probably emulate it
