That is a rare engine indeed.

I’m always on the lookout for special little engines such as this one. To my surprise this one was located only about 50 km away from me and I drove up to pick it up. Usually I’m paying stupid postage costs to come from the other side of the world somewhere.

Yeah cheers, it’s an old motor and I don’t think there’s too many around so it’s good to hear it running. Although it still has its problems which I will work through.

That thing is cool. Does it run on glow fuel is that why there's oil coming out of the exhaust? By the way , cool name except mine is spelled with an "i" (no e)

It’s running on petrol with a drop of oil in the fuel.
The oil I suspect is coming from the intake valve stems. You might notice in the video I am using a brass carburettor, I couldn’t adjust its original carburettor so I made up an adaptor to fit this one. It came off a 12cc engine which is similar capacity to this engine so I thought it would be ok but it is in fact too small for this engine and had the effect of creating a vacuum. Since making this video I tried the engine with a bigger carburettor and it worked much better and the engine would rev harder as well.

I am unfamiliar with these engines .Was it designed to be a model airplane engine? And if so about what year?

@@no1dirtbag there is an article that you can read about the Morton M42 here: modelenginenews.org/cardfile/m42.html
The article suggests they were designed around 1944
