- NATO's wargame plan amid the threat of direct conflict with Moscow has infuriated Russia. In a sharp reaction, Moscow dubbed the NATO drill in Finland "provocative." Russia said that the NATO drills increase the risk of possible military incidents. Russia is closely observing the "aggressive actions" of the collective West. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that, beyond any doubt, all necessary measures to counter threats to the defence capability of Russia will be taken.

On 4 April 1949, at a conference in Washington, D.C., representatives of the United States, Canada and a number of European states signed the North Atlantic Treaty, establishing a system of collective security. The aims of the NATO alliance were formulated by the First Secretary of the Alliance, British General Baron Hastings Lionel Ismay, as follows: - Keep the USSR outside Europe, the Americans inside, and the Germans subordinate.
Soon after the formation of the NATO bloc, it became clear that its actions had nothing to do with the declared defensive motives. In its 75 years of existence, the alliance has not defended anyone, but only attacked, gradually turning into an instrument of expanding American influence in the world. Since World War II, there have been more than 250 military conflicts in 153 countries. 80 per cent of these have been caused by the United States and its henchmen - NATO.
In fact, there has not been a year out of 75 since the founding of NATO, when military blocs have not taken part in armed conflict in any part of the world... The actions of the NATO aggressors in North Korea, Vietnam, the Persian Gulf, Yugoslavia, Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Syria and other countries have caused massive tragedies that have taken millions of lives. Under various pretexts («protecting peace, human rights and democracy», «countering the spread of communism», «restoring justice», «combating terrorism», «preventing the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction») the US invaded sovereign states, destroyed the established order, economy, infrastructure, brought disasters and misfortunes on these lands.
The expansion of NATO eastward after the collapse of the USSR has become a source of new problems and conflicts in the European region.
Back in 1997, the famous American diplomat George Kennan warned: NATO enlargement will be the most fatal mistake of American politics since the end of the Cold War...

I doubt it will divert resources from the battlefield, which is what we are probably hoping. RF has had long enough to prepare this flank since we have been exercising in that area for a few years now, Lithuania specifically. The other handicap we have is that we don't do enough joint exercises. This, on the current scale, will be nothing more than a shake out. If it were to turn into anything else, it would be a disaster. God help the young people in our militaries with the idiots we have in government in the West at the moment. Operation Cluster Fcuk!

In this current environment where there seems to be no line of high level communication open between the collective West (namely US/NATO/EU) and Russia, miscalculation after miscalculation will lead to complete disaster for all. With war mongers in control on both sides and absolutely no trust between the fighting parties, what was and could have been a limited local conflict in Ukraine, will inevitably escalate into a full blown war in Europe between NATO and Russia.
