I'm currently prepping for my first sewing social which I'm doing at our village hall....absolutely nervous but excited at the same time. Going to take a simple blouse to make today as think I'll be talking too much to sew 😂 I actually wanted to make a Bloomsbury blouse with some lovely bright check fabric I got from BTPD but silly me didn't order enough 🙃

Those Lady McElroy fabrics are fabulous Cara and look amazing in both your outfits - I can certainly understand your reluctance to let them go! I’ve been eyeing up the Stitchbird pattern for a while as I love the shape of it. Your sleeveless black Maison Fauve top/dress is beautiful on you as well. Hope you enjoyed your London trip and look forward to hearing about it. X

Love all your makes. The rate at which you sew & complete garments is amazing. In respect of wide leg trousers have you made the Tilly&Buttons Safia trousers? I love them as they have the gathers at the back but flat at the front, such an easy make.❤

I adore that pink/green co-ord set 😍 Hope you enjoyed BST, didn’t book any of the events there this year as we are seeing Bruce Springsteen later in the month! My sewing seems to all about the shirts at the moment although sewing time also seems to have reduced now I’ve started vlogging😂It takes me ages to do each one! Gives me extra respect for what you manage to fit in, it’s lovely to see your enthusiasm each vlog 😊

@@sosewmad we actually saw him last time at BST & thought that would be his last tour here! I’m in love with the shirt I’ve just finished but can’t find the buttons I want to do it justice!
To get rid of the itch in linen soak the garment in coca-cola overnight, then wash as usual and the itch will go. Hope that helps.

Some lovely makes Cara. I was interested in the Peppermint trousers/Thea trousers comparison. I’ve made 2 Thea’s and love them. I have the Peppermint pattern. Why do you like it more?? I’m making a Saguaro set at the moment. Are those similar? Not sure which to make yet. I have some beautiful Italian fine wool set aside for smart trousers. Which pattern do you like?
Great question having made the Thea and wide leg I prefer the width of the wide leg trousers, can’t explain it as they are v similar, the saguqro have a lovely pocket and are lovely, but on this occasion I’m after a non elastic waist band

Cara, you are such a naughty influence! This time, I'd like to introduce a pattern company to you. It's called Itch-to-Stitch. Patterns are PDF only, reasonably priced and they have such lovely patterns for what I call my "everyday" garments but of course, fabric choices can elevate or tone down any piece. I just finished my 2nd Crystal Cove Cami. The back is super cute. Anyway, hope you take a peek.

@@sosewmad Cara, you are amazing. That you even remembered my husband had been ill is so thoughtful and lovely and for you to ask about him is truly touching. Thank you for asking. He is doing so much better! He was in the hospital for a week and he's been recovering at home for a week and a half and is set to go back to his own patients tomorrow. I'm ready for him to go back😆, 😁. I've only managed to sew 4 things in 2.5 weeks! What I have managed is buying fabric and new patterns, yippee! 💝

Hi Cara, I'm new to your channel and found you when I was looking at the Salto top by Maison Fauve. I like a lot of their patterns but I have a larger bust and was wondering how they sew up. I've lost my confidence in sewing, particularly for myself because of this and I would appreciate any advice that you could give me. Thank you and I've just subscribed!🥰🥰
Hi Tracy welcome on board! It’s so lovely to hear from you. You’ll notice from my channel that I’ve made A LOT of Maison Fauve clothes and I find the measurements true to size, there’s little ease generally, I haven’t made the salto yet but have the pattern, it’s lovely, their sew alongs are amazing, just change the captions to English

You’re welcome, if you make the option with no button placket this will give you the easiest indication of fit, enjoy
Beautiful fit on the wrap green and pink top! How did you get such a great fit? I am struggling to do that with every pattern except the Zadie. I have made the Roseclair with their size calculator and the M7969 5 times with so many adjustments and cannot get it right. Any tips appreciated. I have a full bust md I am tall so I need to add length and width, and it is usually too revealing or gapping.
Tbh I’m surprised too that there is enough coverage I have put a popper on for extra protection but it’s a lovely top, I made another today and did add the darts which has given it lovely shaping, it would need extended if you are tall

Hello from the northeast of England. Did you enjoy the Andrea Bocelli concert? I was there on Friday and thought that it was excellent. It was a shame that the weather did not behave itself! Which outfit did you wear in the end?
Wasn’t it fantastic! Such a shame about the weather, I ended up making a quick top to go with my tremplin trousers and bomber jacket, wasn’t the weather we’d hoped for! Did you enjoy it too?
@@sosewmad I absolutely loved it. Andrea has a beautiful voice; I could listen to him all day. His guests were superb, too. The duet with Virginia always makes me cry. I have only just gone back to garment sewing, so I was dressed in ready-to-wear trousers, a sweatshirt, and trainers, with a not-so-waterproof jacket on top. I am so pleased that I packed a complete change of clothes because I could not wear any of those items the next day as they were soaking wet. Did you manage to get a seat out of the rain?
lol I was standing! A plastic poncho was my best purchase 😅
Avoid fabric softeners as it makes fabrics highly flammable. For the itchy navy fabric try soaking it in full strength coca cola over night then wash as per normal. Also for your red and green cross over top consider putting a poppa thingy to prevent gaping at the cleavage.
