  • Adding line numbers in a Word document is a straightforward process. Here's how you can do it:
    1. For the entire document:
Go to the Layout tab on the ribbon.
In the Page Setup group, click Line Numbers.
Choose Continuous. This will number every line in your document from beginning to end.
    2. For a section of the document:
Select the text where you want to add line numbers.
Go to the Layout tab on the ribbon.
In the Page Setup group, click Line Numbers.
    Choose Line Numbering Options.
In the Page Setup dialog box, click the Layout tab.
In the Apply to list, click Selected sections.
    Click Line Numbers.
Check the Add line numbering box, and then select the options that you want.
    Click OK.
    3. Other Line Numbering Options:
In the Line Numbering Options dialog box, you can also:
Restart each page: This restarts the line numbering at 1 on each new page.
Restart each section: This restarts the line numbering at 1 in each new section.
Suppress for current paragraph: This excludes the current paragraph from line numbering.
Set the starting number: You can choose to start line numbering at any number you want.
Set the distance from text: This controls how far from the text the line numbers appear.
Count by: Instead of line numbers appearing on every line, you can set an interval so that line numbers are only displayed every few lines (e.g., every 5 lines).
These options give you flexibility in how you want to display line numbers in your document.
    I hope this helps!
