What is Gleneagles lead crystal ? Is it not quality . I have a bowl which is Very heavy . I am not sure how much it would retail for ? I had a beautiful French crystal bowl which was much more attractive and lighter . It was beautiful. A friend accidentally broke it . I was heartbroken . She bought me a Gleneagles lead crystal bowl to replace it . Which was nice . However it is not anywhere as attractive and is VERY heavy . The light doesn't seem to reflect colours the way the French Crystal bowl did . It had a lovely finish . The other lead crystal is more plain and only has a kind of cross over belt in the middle . Just not as attractive . Is Gleneagles lead crystal cheaper than the French crystal ? It is not as pretty .

Hi, I've recently acquired approx. 800 pieces of various glassware from someone who collected the items from the late 1960's, up through the 80's, she had them in a storage garage along with various other collectibles. As best I can tell, about half is probably crystal based on what I've learned here and other sites based on sound, clarity and other indicators, But honestly I don't know the first thing about crystal and such. So my question to you is, would it be possible for me to send you pics of some of the items as you say and maybe you could help me a bit with the history and value, and to perhaps help me know if it is in fact crystal. I do know that she was apparently a high end collector according to her daughter. I myself am at a loss though. You can learn it. Just stick with one or two things to start. It took me a lot of years in school, museums, and looking at about 20,000 items as year.

I was under the impression that lalique glass was not actually crystal because it had below the 24% lead content
Gregory Owczarczak If any type of glass has more than 24% lead content, then it may be considered crystal. There is a specific definition for it.
Lalique glass pre-1945 was called demi crystal because it had a 12% lead content Lalique glass after 1945 had 24% lead content
