The struggle to get on a buck is real in the wolf (un)management zone north of hwy 2. My cabin is just northwest of crane lake about 11miles. Right in the core of the minnesota wolf study area. Waiting to get another wolf season up there. I registered the first wolf of our first season, a gorgeous black male that i caught in a snare about 4hrs after setting it on a large beaver dam crossing.
Nope! Deer density is very low where we hunt, so I am guessing it was the same deer, but it’s hard to say. I went back and watched the footage over and over and zoomed in and still couldn’t tell…guess I’ll never know
I got my 2 sons that can hunt and my gf on their first bucks this year. 8pt, 4pt, 7pt, . First year i did not hunt BUT i get all muzzleloader season to myself to hunt now with no kids sniffling, talking loud or anything.lol

I went to my cabin by crane lake this last weekend with the intent to hunt, BUUUUT, i got severely distracted when i found 6 walkable inches of ice on the whole north end of my lake see (st louis county long lake) on lakefinder. I slent the weekend reading a good book, poking at the fire in the woodstove and running out every 30mins or so to tend to tip ups that kept having flags flying. By dark i had my 3nice 7lbish pike, and 4walleyes close to 20". Brought them up into the yard to let them freeze overnight on my deck stairs, woke up to zero fish, and a pile of wolf tracks everywhere. Ill be in nebraska on a duck hunt this weekend, but next weekend ill be hunting at home by forest lake on my familys 390acres so i cant imagine i wont ounch my tag during that 2 days if weather cooperates.
@@therealfarwater i would like to do a winter camping/fishing trip somewhere in the ely area this winter but have not bought a hot tent as of yet. Hoping to rent one from the shop. Would love a camping/lake trout trip on snowbank or thomas if snow depth, slush, or travel by foot permits it. When renting a tent from your work, do they show you how to set the tent and stove up? First trip in a new setup would likely be close like wind lake, found, or hell, even stupid glacier pond or tofte lake to get the feel for it. I ask you simply because i dont know any other wintwr campers since my buddy moved to alaska and took his dogs and dogsleds with him. He had a BIG tent and a BIG stove so im completely new to the smaller snowtrekkers. Ideally would be a dual person trip or if others go id be down too.

@@nickmotzko5185 yea, I’ve read it, you’re reading it wrong. Controlled substances are drugs like weed, painkillers, etc., OR have a blood alcohol above .08. As I drank one light beer, I can pretty confidently say I was well below that legal threshold.
Yes sorry I misunderstood their wording i guess I re read the laws you have to be under .08 unless they determine your under the influence so from what I understand I have been waiting for sunset for no reason dang it will have to have a beer now while I butcher venison to wash down the taste of foot
