Our neighbours were bus drivers, school janitors, meat packers, unskilled construction workers, taxi drivers, corner store owners, grocery clerks, plumbers, carpenters, auto mechanics, auto body workers, city Works Department workers, landscapers and factory workers. They all managed to buy a house, raise 3 to 5 children, provide education, 2 good used cars in the driveway and 75 percent owned summer vacation homes. They never defaulted on a mortgage payment, always payed their taxes and utility bills, never struggled to put food on the table, or to put gas in their cars or heat their homes. Everyone could afford to get away for a vacation for a few weeks per year and the immigrant families often vacationed by returning to their origin countries to visit family every couple of years. He is right. I work for a large construction company in Vancouver. Just getting the permits takes 3 to 5 years and only then we are allowed to build stuff. Even after the permitting process cities come back to construction companies with ridiculous requests during the construction. They don't want houses to be built and I'm experiencing it 1st hand.

Entire generations are being robbed of our homes, history, and hope because of poor leadership. And while the excuse is that many of our problems are happening elsewhere as well - that’s the point! Our officials will bend over backwards to follow failing global agendas and interests while turning a blind eye to their own constituents, to the extent that the people don’t feel like they have a voice either. And then as a response we get waves of regulation limiting our voices and what we can hear.

Until Canadians realize that the current government does not want to build homes because of 'urban sprawl', and want the minions to live in multi unit housing this won't change.
The developer likes building these because they can sell more doors per acre of land and the urban planners tell politicians this will stop climate change which also produces more tax payers per acre. When you see a highway jammed with traffic they see 'growth' .
The entire problem stems from the belief that building or making almost anything causes climate change.
    It's not incompetence it's ideology.

    • @SoybeanAK

Trouble is the profit isn't that way. Single units on postage stamp sized lots offer a way better margin for builders, and the single-family-only zoned areas end up costing the taxpayers money because they never provide enough tax revenue to pay for their infrastructure. Developers (and GCs) are the only ones who profit from that sprawl, while the mid-rises actually help the economy.
But no-one wants to live in them because they're all built out of tarpaper and spit in North America, instead of being solid and soundproof. Again, developer margins.

There's nothing wrong with multi unit housing. It's probably the only way forward at speed as well. Population grow estimates have us gaining 10 million people by 2050, thats 370,370 people per year. We have to build that many housing units every year. Just to keep the same supply and demand ratio that we already have. More to make it better.
Single family homes won't get us there. They take too long per unit to build even once the red tape is out of the way. Plus then more infrastructure is needed. Realistically we need to build a mix of high and medium density housing that has employment and services on ground floor, along with single family homes around those.

Never vote conservatives for anything. The only item that needs to be conserved is the environment to which the conservatives are opposed of. Other items needs to be advanced and progress must take hold. Through out the world cite me one example that conservatives have done good. If you want the chaos and demagoguery of Trump in Canada then Poilievre is that person. He has neither the skills nor the principle to do good to economic problems facing people. He has gained dexterity in finger pointing over the last 20 years as a career politician. Only anarchists and market wolves will support PP. We do not need anarchists and wolves they need to reside in the jungle.

Great message and Right On Point. I seen a clip the other day where Trudeau went up to a citizen who said to Trudeau that you have Ruined Canada, and Trudeau had the gall to confront the gentleman and ask him directly. "How have I ruined Canada" ? I mean if Trudeau has to ask, then he is so completely out of touch that I wouldn't waste my time giving him an answer. However, the gentleman did give him an answer, to which Trudeau did not respond, but instead exited immediately. This is what we get with him. Well, I have had quite enough of it, and I am sure that most of my fellow Canadians have as well. We must come out in MASS and make sure Pierre gets a Majority government. There is no other way around this nightmare.

As a 26 year old blue collar Canadian, I sure hope you can deliver on your promises. I grew up believing I had won the lottery in terms of being born in a thriving and growing country that majority of the world respected. I was excited for life and my future ahead because I was taught if you work hard, you can be financially independent. However that is not the case at all. I have no choice but to accept financial aid from my family.(extremely grateful i even have this option) just to put a roof over my head, food on the table and gas in my truck. Not only is the Canadian government currently stripping young Canadians of any cash they earn, but they are now taking money from the middle class retired folks because they don't want to see their children end up on the street? The toll this takes on people my age is unmeasurable. Not only are we scared for our futures but were scared for the future of this country and our families. I'm all for what you are selling in this video , but if you get into office and things don't change. You can expect shit to hit the fan across the country.

Look at this quote today from the Trudeau Federal Government Today Pierre - The federal government said that in 2022 international students contributed more than $22 billion to the Canadian economy, greater than the contribution of auto parts or lumber exports. So you have stated you will BOOST that number of temporary foreign workers and increase immigration with a blue seal standard. You are not going to stop foreign mass immigration at all. There should be a heavy tax for those that want to purchase a second home in their name, and especially those that leave houses empty.
Fix this problem alone, should greatly reduce house prices. And couple that with building more houses, and the market should then be fair again for first time home buyers.

I started following Canada parliament Debates and trust me being unbiased i really like this guy his thoughts and way of presenting quite impressive compare to all his present competitors right now. What more can we say why Justin is not as capable as he is, cause i believe the proper term would be nepotism Justin is gifted that position born at a rich with strong political background family he hasn't seen the ground reality of Canada. I think if i was a Canadian sure sort i find Pierre more worthy for the post of president rather than any other politician at present.
