I recall Yu Da Wei having fought in another Sanda vs Muay Thai event but not sure which one. The only thing that I remembered very clearly is this guy have no fighting spirit. Bunhom is known as Pathawachai on this site www.angelfire.com/sd2/kingofsa.... I went with the name Bunhom as that was his name on the video. I don't know who is right. According to the previous site, he's a seasoned veteran with over 80 fights. He sure fights like a veteran. One of the rare Muay Thai fighters I've seen that can nullify the sanda throws and takedowns and consistently counter with knees. Great fighter. - กีฬา

Most of these comments 6 or 7 years old so I hope most of you have learned by now that incorporating aspects and strengths of both arts will develop one into a better fighter 😉

Well, we all knows Thais don't have much more of a strategy than enduring punishment and keep going forward, like a train... But that's not necessarily good and that's why Thais are often retired at 25.
San Da is more tactic in that aspect: Sometimes go forward, sometimes withdraw to make the adversary attack and use that against him.
I've seen fights won by Thais where Chinese were demolished and vice versa.

@unimaculata : I cannot agree with you and I'll explain why. Muay Thai is not just striking. It has excellent throws too. You cant grab by the torso but you can throw by the neck and you can sweep or takedown grabbing a kicking leg. Also, Thais are allowed to use knees and elbows in a way that Sanda fighters are not used to.
Because these fights have unified rules (catch all rules) I think that all in all none of the fighters is in disadvantage and it's pretty balanced.

just because your fit doesnt mean u have good cardio just like, just because u have big muscle doesnt mean u can kick someone ass. muaythai is a proven art thats why mma fighter use it and all mma fighter that r champion have muaythai background with jijutsu as a ground backup

But that would be unfair for the Thais, without using elbow head strikes, kneew to the head and everything. The fact that this is unified rules makes it fair... If it was sanda or Muay thai rules, it would be less fair...

yeah i have heard that story before but only on you tube comment sections. never found any evidence supporting it. how ever if you search sanda on wikipedia it does support my statement. thats cause i did proper research before bringing out my argument. and sanda wins plenty of times out side of china. check out yi longs fights. they win fairly end of story. just cause ur favorite martial art lost doesnt mean it was unfair of biased.
There are plenty of Sanda v Muay Thai matches under Sanda rules, and plenty under Thai rules.

nope its unified rules not sanda rules. so they both have advantages and disadvantages. and lemme educate u on sanda, you see sanda was created in the military and it was based on the most effective Chinese martial arts. they eventually made a sport out of it since kung fu didnt have a sport. it has nothing to do with muay thai. so it is completely chinese. and sanda defeats muay thai FAIRLY 7/10 times.

Saying Liu Hai Long never won by standing and striking, is like saying Thais never win without using knees and elbows. We all know these are different arts and while Muay Thai favors 90% striking and 10% throwing, San Da favours 50% striking 50% throwing. It's not a very pertinent thing to say that an athlete from San Da never won fighting like Muay Thai. Of course he will not mmitate Thais... He will use San Da Arsenal. I don't expect Thais to win with throws either!..

hmmm...those were interesting articles....but they were either some small statement on a forum or some mma site try to promote there stuff. anyways they could be legite, but what does that prove. when pro muay thai fighters defeat some small unknown kung fu school what does it prove.
and yes it will end up looking like muay thai. when tkd,, karate, or any martial art is adapted into a ring situation they are all gonna look similar. cause we all have the same anatomy. sanda is kung fu period!

you can claim it as much as you want, but the facts are facts. and sanda is a kung fu hybrid. that argument is closed.
and yeah i can say the same thing bout muay thai fighters only winning in thailand, but what can i base that on. nothing. just like your claim. most challenges are initiated by the thai's, so most sanda wins against mt are in thailand.
as for fighting top champs, well most style vs style fights are amateur fights. champions only fight on major promotions.

why is it that everytime when china is going to lose, they will find excuses such as this one, the thai fighter pours alot of water in between rounds therefore the chinese fighter is unable to grab him and throw. its totally ridiculous, the sweating is also water, just admit defeat man
