Dyko's Tech museum: The IBM 6750/3 Quitewriter

  • Here's a look at one of my "tech curiosities" from my little museum. It's an electronic typewriter from IBM with a Model-M style keyboard. It's got the same kind on buckling spring action on the key's. An oddity of this 1980's peice of office equipment is that it can also be used as a printer.
    So let's take a closer look at this device an what kind of tricks it's got up on it's sleeves.

    Thanks for posting this. I worked in software development at IBM Lexington on PC/Typewriter combo machines (IBM Personal Typing System).

    Hello! Do you have any other device connected between the Typewriter and Computer in order to enable the Printing function?

      No, there’s no special device required. It only needs a computer with a compatible parallelport and a text editor. As a printer it’s quite limited, it can only function as a generic text printer. It can’t do graphics, only text.
